January 31, 200619 yr That is unless your bird is a recessive pied and if so wont get an iris ring at all. Ive got an 8 month old budgie who as far as I am aware isnt a pied anything but she still isnt showing any signs of an iris ring coming through which is a real mystery, unless she has some sort of recessive in her genes. I have no idea why the ring hasnt appeared at all.
February 10, 200619 yr I have a non-pied budgie that I've had for nearly 9 months and he still doesn't have the iris ring either. He is normal colored like the wild ones. Yellow head, green body, black shell markings on wings. Strange. I don't think he will get the rings ever. That's okay, I love his deep black eyes. They are large too because he is an english budgie.
