Posted January 18, 200817 yr Im a new member of this board coming straight from Italy....Id like to share some lil portraits of my 6 budgies with this board's wonderful members. I know they may look 'vulgar' to some of you 'cause they are not particularly refined genetically nor suitable for an exibition, but I'd just love to have the opinion of the experts about their age and condition...so please feel free to express any doubt or concern on their actual conditions...do they look overweight to you? Please tell me...everything that comes to your minds. I would REALLY appreciate it  I eventually decided to post links to the uploads I did on photobucket...that's because many of those are already posted on another forum which allows a bigger frame...some are exclusive, though, a real premiere They are slightly bigger than those allowed (mostly 640x480), hence I hope there will be no problems even with the slowest connections... My aunt's 6 budgies were named after some famous painters because of their colors and patterns... Let's start with the gents, just because are those I bought first. Here's Gauguin... http://i220.photobucket.com/albums/dd228/m...e/PICT0001a.jpg http://i220.photobucket.com/albums/dd228/m...e/PICT0045a.jpg http://i220.photobucket.com/albums/dd228/m...e4/PICT0085.jpg http://i220.photobucket.com/albums/dd228/m...e2/PICT0029.jpg ...Magritte: http://i220.photobucket.com/albums/dd228/m...e/PICT0037a.jpg http://i220.photobucket.com/albums/dd228/m...e2/PICT0019.jpg http://i220.photobucket.com/albums/dd228/m...e/PICT0005a.jpg http://i220.photobucket.com/albums/dd228/m...e4/PICT0005.jpg Dalì: http://i220.photobucket.com/albums/dd228/m...te/PICT0007.jpg http://i220.photobucket.com/albums/dd228/m...e/PICT0043a.jpg http://i220.photobucket.com/albums/dd228/m...te/PICT0049.jpg http://i220.photobucket.com/albums/dd228/m...e/PICT0016a.jpg http://i220.photobucket.com/albums/dd228/m...e2/PICT0015.jpg And here come the ladies: Matisse... http://i220.photobucket.com/albums/dd228/m...e/PICT0033a.jpg http://i220.photobucket.com/albums/dd228/m...e/PICT0034a.jpg http://i220.photobucket.com/albums/dd228/m...e4/PICT0009.jpg http://i220.photobucket.com/albums/dd228/m...e3/PICT0029.jpg http://i220.photobucket.com/albums/dd228/m...e2/PICT0074.jpg Fragonard: http://i220.photobucket.com/albums/dd228/m...e3/PICT0018.jpg http://i220.photobucket.com/albums/dd228/m...e3/PICT0004.jpg http://i220.photobucket.com/albums/dd228/m...e3/PICT0013.jpg http://i220.photobucket.com/albums/dd228/m...agonard0001.jpg http://i220.photobucket.com/albums/dd228/m...e4/PICT0094.jpg And Tamara (deLempicka): http://i220.photobucket.com/albums/dd228/m...e3/PICT0005.jpg http://i220.photobucket.com/albums/dd228/m...e3/PICT0027.jpg Funny she has just one blue 'facial mark' (don't know the proper term in English)... http://i220.photobucket.com/albums/dd228/m...ra/PICT0091.jpg ...the left one is snow-white... http://i220.photobucket.com/albums/dd228/m...ra/PICT0090.jpg I find this one particularly irresistable.... http://i220.photobucket.com/albums/dd228/m...ra/PICT0073.jpg The couples are the following: Gauguin+Tamara: http://i220.photobucket.com/albums/dd228/m...ra/PICT0071.jpg http://i220.photobucket.com/albums/dd228/m...e4/PICT0111.jpg Dalì+Fragonard: http://i220.photobucket.com/albums/dd228/m...e3/PICT0004.jpg http://i220.photobucket.com/albums/dd228/m...e3/PICT0037.jpg http://i220.photobucket.com/albums/dd228/m...e3/PICT0036.jpg Magritte+Matisse: http://i220.photobucket.com/albums/dd228/m...e4/PICT0110.jpg Although I should mix some viagra with their seeds...here they look particularly sleepy... http://i220.photobucket.com/albums/dd228/m...e4/PICT0107.jpg Hope you enjoyed my 1st post and forgot my lack of linguistic skills with the cuteness of my 6 little birds
January 19, 200817 yr Lovely budgies Sandman.......and your linguistics are perfect. My budgies are just "plain budgies" as well. As Norm suggested, perhaps have your pictures twice, once for your other forum and again sized for BBC as it is cumbersome to click into links. Thanks so much! :ygbudgie: Edited January 19, 200817 yr by Phoebe
January 19, 200817 yr You have a great bunch of budgies there, and mine too are 'run of the mill' normal budgies. They all look really healthy and loved! Your linguistics are very good, I partularly like your sense of humor!!!
January 19, 200817 yr Your budgies are all such sweeties and look in really good health. Gauguin looks similar to my Arkady, different colours, but similar looking faces. I love the first picture of Magritte, so cute and Fragonard is such a lovely colour. I also very much like Tamara's markings. They are all very lovely little birds.
January 19, 200817 yr Very beautiful budgies. Just one thing though, please try and get some natural wood perches for the sake of their feet. I'm far from an expert but know that the plastic perches and even the dowel ones that are all the one size are really bad for their feet. Try and get a few of varying dimensions.
January 19, 200817 yr You have a great flock of budgie's sandman, they are all very pretty, my budgies too are just 'plain' budgies, but I wouldn't have them any other way :fear .
January 19, 200817 yr Author your birds are cute i especially like tamara I finally found someone fond of Tamara just like me! Many people seem to appreciate others mostly, particularly Dalì and Fragonard...Well, Dalì is my sweetheart, the only one who enjoys sitting on my hands, and I have a big crush on him...but Tamara is special. You can't see it form those pics but her wings have two white tones: the upper part resembles ivory, while the lower is really snow white... I love that 'run of the mill' expression and I'll have to write it down!!! Hey Sailorwolf! You caught Gauguin's peculiar expression!...I was just wondering if there was in the world another budgie with that same funny face...glad to hear from you...I'd love to see a picture of Arkady!!! But I really appreciated that suggestion about perches...because I bought those for that very reason. They are not made of hard, stiff plastic (like those I used to have before) but it's a strange material which is kinda flexible, just like natural wood, my budgies seem to like it a lot. Do you think I should put real wood perches???
January 19, 200817 yr I love all your budgies they are so cute. I am interested in the plastic clips which hold the food, I am not sure if they are available in Aust. may be someone will know. I have my budgies on dowel so I will have to change them this week. Good luck.
January 19, 200817 yr 'Run of the mill'... comes in handy I love mine just the way they are! I'd put some natural perches in. My birds (esp my budgies) stripped the bark off the ones I put in and now they are all smooth. The advantage of natural ones is there thickness is uneven which make your birds feet adjust accordingly giving their 'feet exercise'. Just check our safe and non safe branches/plants section of the FAQ's and remember to wash them and make sure they haven't been sprayed with chemicals.
January 20, 200817 yr your budgies are all so gorgeous, l don't have a favorite because l love them all
January 20, 200817 yr Author Hey you're right! Their facial features are very close, though Arkady is a gorgeous lime, while Gauguin is olive green...I guess Arkady's tint is the genuinely ancestral one...am I wrong? I'll take a look to the 'safe perches' section, though I'm afraid here in Italy is very difficult to find good wooden perches in stores... I gave a look to some picture posts and I must admit Australians have a natural talent to furnish budgies' houses...I love those wooden accessories!!!
January 20, 200817 yr I am interested in the plastic clips which hold the food, I am not sure if they are available in Aust. may be someone will know. They are available very cheaply through our budgie clubs here Zenie< Let me know if you want some and cannot source them close to you.

Yes Kaz, thank you very much I would really love to have at least 4 if it could be arranged. They are not available in our pet shops, actually they have a poor range for birds, dogs and cats are the animals most provided for.
