  1. okay thanks L__J, Exciting news, Talks and Lil, the blue and turquoise have laid for the first time, just hope it is fertile. the 1st egg was laid on the 2nd of June 2013. As for Mixie and Lady, they have a total of 6 eggs, if there is another one it will be tomorrow 3rd of June 2013. The 3rd egg was on the 26 of May 2013, 4th was on the 28th of May 2013, 5th was on 30th of May 2013, and as I said the 6th was on 1st of June 2013. So far 4 are fertile, fith egg looks like the membrane hasn't been damaged by the crack because it appears to be getting vanes.
  2. No that's fine Robyn, any budgie you want is fine.
  3. They are so cute. I love pure white albino chicks. Also the first and last I think are cute too, love those I have one with a lighter blue. Good job, you didn't show the dad though?
  4. Hey guys, I need help adding pictures as I cant, I followed L__J's signature, which is a link to show you how to do this, but it still hasn't worked, so if you could help me out I would appreciate it.
  5. Good luck, by the way your images need to be on this forum not a link as that will not work.
  6. Hello everyone, I am now holding the competitions and the first idea that we have is a Budgerigar Calendar. Now this works by you putting in your favourite budgie for the month we specify. Then everyone reply's and states which budgie they liked best for that month. After we have gathered all the pictures, I will make a calendar, (this will only be A4, however 1 page per month). We then email the Calendar to the people that ask for them. Now for the first month we will start back at January. So Please enter your favourite Budgie For the month JANUARY. (this will be on next years 2014 calendar). WHERE SHOULD I POST MY PICTURE? Post on This Topic, and before the picture state, RE; JAN This is to know which month you want it in, only post for the month that I state. Also it will work better if the picture is upright. (higher rather than wider). Look forward to seeing all your entries.

Well for starters make sure that the flight and bird room are snake, rat and all those kind of critters proof. Then make sure that there is a system that you could make that let's you cover them in winter and in summer just make sure the sun cannot cover them to the point when they can't get out of the sun. Allow for shade and perhaps add a window (only small) for wind to travel through the sides to allow for cooling. If you take these into account you could have a very efficient aviary that can cope with all seasons.

Great idea. I'm sure the kids will love it. I do.
  9. Yes agree with Nadene, Mine are breeding at this moment too, I'm in QLD too and mine are coping okay.
  10. As for breeding clubs. You could look on Internet Sydney budgie breeding club. Perhaps yellow pages and maybe the pet store.

Nice work. I know that it looks harder than you think, that often is the case. I am thinking I should put a safety door on my aviary, but ther is only four of the birds over there. The others are in my new breeding cages. Keep up the good work.
  12. Welcome to the forum, you will need to; Know whether you are going to breed them 2. what living spaces do you have 3. get the right quality food, are you willing for the hard work 4. what will you get out of it lastly, do you have time for them. If you have all these done well you are off to a good start.
  13. Sorry about having to do links for everything, but I follow what L__J has as his signature, however it always says its wrong.
  14. Thanks **KAZ**
  15. Hi Budgie_Mad, just because you see the pair mating does not mean your first egg will arrive within 2 days of it, they will mate at any time and not produce eggs. If she is looking egg bummy it could still be days before she actually lays, THEN expect eggs every 2 days and they will hatch in the same time frame, if they are fertile. (18 days incubation hatch every 2 days) approximately. Good luck with them, great looking cage set up, should be a snap to keep clean. Yes, I know that they can have 'recreational mating', and about the egg bum, I just am a little bit on the edge atm, as I am really busy, I think that it could have been recreational mating, as the egg bum has only just started, However you are probably right. New topic As for the other 4 eggs, two so far are showing veins and little red bodies, third I am hoping is fertile too, but I will be happy to get two again. (Mixie and Lady)
  16. Yeah, well there is a side door that's the one I use. I could put them in a shed, however it is being used to restore 2 Jaguars, one is completed and the other is going under the restoring now, so no room there, birds make too much mess inside, so no for that, and no where else really, I am going to use a blanket and stand under that and that will stop it a bit.
  17. Thanks Jenny, they do enjoy it, I think though maybe I should make something to not let them escape when I open the doors as it is outside. What do you think, as there is no room at all in the aviary for that monster of a cage.
  18. Seeing how this topic is still live-ish, would it be possible to do a new one so us newer ones can have a try, I am just learning, and that was fun doing that.
  19. Most likely cinnamon, yellow. Doesn't look lutino, or is that just me, as it doesn't have any whiter areas, I think that's right, correct if I'm wrong
  20. okay so here are the photos. The other pair that I will refer to as Talks and Lil http://s1283.photobucket.com/user/Budgie_Mad/media/photo_zps313a682c.jpg.html?sort=3&o=0 Lady and her 4 eggs http://s1283.photobucket.com/user/Budgie_Mad/media/Femaleandhereggs_zps4d656c18.jpg.html?sort=3&o=1 The breeding Cage http://s1283.photobucket.com/user/Budgie_Mad/media/Onecageinthewholesetup_zpsc3950c78.jpg.html?sort=3&o=2 The rotating food and water http://s1283.photobucket.com/user/Budgie_Mad/media/Foodandwaterrotating_zps0ad96042.jpg.html?sort=3&o=3 The whole Cage http://s1283.photobucket.com/user/Budgie_Mad/media/Thewholesetup_zps0d7c0431.jpg.html?sort=3&o=4

Looks like you are going well, As for the question I believe **KAZ** said the sooner the better, depends really on how tame you want the babies. I handled for about 1 minute over the day from about 2 days old, thats to make sure its okay, but dont stress the parents.
  22. Well, i am no expert on mutations so I am not going to guess, They baby looks like however it will be very interesting colours. Not many people seem to be on at the moment, so my best advice is to just wait until, the baby is grown and then you can tell for certain.
  23. Sure, well, to surprise you all (and me) someone brought the cage home while I was having dinner!!!! so I will post a picture either this morning or this afternoon sometime, By The Way the other blue female that should lay, is worrying me, im hoping she isn't egg bound, I just hope that the day I noticed them mating was the first, which means it should arrive today or tomorrow, just wish me luck with her as its her first time and I thought she was infertile, however now she is getting egg bum, so fingers crossed.
  24. congrats. Mine 3rd was yesterday. And other pair showing signs of eggs.
  25. I am getting some more breeding cages, It is a very nice cage, and it better be for what the price is, It has four joined that can disconnect from each other, which is on a stand with shelving.
