  3. Hello everyone, I had a post that I was working on but I got so busy and I didn't like the way I did it. My first pair of budgies to breed are my Violet (Lady) and Yellow, some say creamino? (Mixie). Well I had been trying to get my budgies to breed for about 2 years now, when I decided to separate the pairs, well I was successful! There is 6 eggs in total the first on the 21st of February 2013 and the last on the last on the 3rd of March 2013. She started to incubate the eggs the day after the first egg, so I thought that there would only be a few eggs 2 or 3 maybe, but there is now 6 eggs, 4 of which are old enough to be candled and they all seem to be fertilised the other two wont be ready to candle for a day or more yet. I will show you the pictures of the babies when they hatch and add the eggs on at that time too. Well that is all I have to say and thanks to everyone on here, but especially a few people like Finnie and hilly!
  4. okay so change of date, the first egg is due on the 11th not the 9th,i read the 18 day egg chaart wrong (oops) but yes she is still fine.
  5. yep third egg came today she is looking after them really well she rarely leaves the nest other than for a stretch a feed and a private time, so I am getting happier every day, and the first egg is due on the 9th of march so 12 days away. =)
  6. okay thanks for your help she stopped tapping anyway and she has been getting some of the shavings out so all good.
  7. okay so I got home after going out and she has stopped and is incubating the eggs (however does she sleep in there)? But all good now.
  8. Hello, My nesting female budgie is jerking when she sits on her eggs she just jerks and make a knocking sound but she doesn't do it when she's out of the nest box. She has eggs and there are 2 of them she is due to lay her third tomorrow but I am worried. This is my fist time breeding and I need help. she eats the wood shavings in the nest box every now and then, and I don't know how much she eats or drinks. so please help, Budgie_Mad.
  9. okay, update time, Second egg today so happy, she is doing well so far adn i am happy with them.
  10. Hello everybody, I noticed on the 15th of Feb that my budgies started to mate for the first time, so I read up big and did extra homework on them and I have finally got my first egg. It was small but not too small, she started to incubate it the morning after laying, I don't know whether that means no more eggs or just not many (if anyone could answer that), and I am hoping tomorrow that the second if there is a second egg will arrive tomorrow (Saturday). The first egg is expected to lay on the 9th of march and I am really excited. I am hoping that I will be able to make my aviary a better aviary as when I open the door they can fly out. so hoping to put a exterior entrance that you can close before going through a second one. The breeding pair colours are Purple and Yellow-ino, and that's all really. I will update when I can and hope you can give me any tips that you think would be good. From Budgie_Mad.

  13. okay, well she started incubating this morning, so is it possible for only one egg or does it have to be if this ones fertile?
  14. yes as it takes 18 - 21 days before hatching
  15. okay so she laid her first egg yesterday afternoon and started incubating it the morning after. Yay
  16. okay good I hope it's fertile or at least one will be. Fingers crossed. She's started two incubate it and its only tomorrow so she lays it one afyernoon and incubates it next morning is that okay.

  19. Hello, again I am nervous as I am first time breeding and I was wondering, what would happen if you touch an egg. Also how long does it take for a female to start incubating her eggs lastly the first egg she laid is small, she hasn't laid anymore yet as she laid it this arv but it is smaller to what I imagined. does this mean it is infertile?
  20. thanks, yeah I noticed she wasn't incubating, and can you touch the egg to candle it?
