  1. it says in the Faq, " I note her best points and her worst point. I then pick the cocks that have good points that will counter her bad points and visa versa." what does this mean?
  2. okay Kaz, i was thinking of breeding the budgies ive had for a while. the female is vey big and healthy and her cere is slightly crusty which i read was good for breeeding condition in females. the male is also healthy and plump and his cere is bright blue. also i still dont know what you mean by god and bad points.
  3. also if i need to improve cere colour what do i do
  4. Kaz do you get this happening much with the humidity in Perth
  5. what should i be looking for in cere colour? and also in the how do you prepare for breeding Faq what do you mean by best and worst points.
  6. okay thanks Kaz, ill probably try and get rosie and Puff in the best condition possible so that they can breed, do you know anything good i can add to their diet apart from what i mentioned above.
  7. thanks Gb for the advice, i have a cobalt cock called Puff(picture on other page) that has never bred before and a nice big hen called rosie( picture on other page) that also has never bred before. i was also thinking of geting another hen so i have two hens and two big cocks to breed. also if/when i get the new breeding cabinets should i put food on the bottom so that she can eat if the cocks not feeding or is that bad.
  8. Which pair are you talking about? The one on eggs, or the other pair? If I recall correctly, the one on eggs was really thin, and doesn't she need a good long rest, to get into better condition? How is the condition of the other hen? Just make sure she is getting a high quality diet, with lots of vegetables, vitamins, calcium supplements, to make sure she has a good nutritional foundation. I don't know if 3 weeks is long enough to build her up properly, though. i would never put the one on eggs(i think the eggs are infertile) straight back into breeding that would be cruel. i was going to get another hen because i probably wont try to breed the thin one again. i feed my budgies, seed, vegetables, fruits, shell grit and they get treats and cuttlefish so i do look after them.
  9. ive been doing a lot of research lately about breeding and stuff and i went to my school library to get some ooks and they did not even have 1. any good advice would be appreciated.
  10. hey jimmy, in regards to the breeding cabinet, in my back yard there is a deck and underneath that is a very large room, i was thinking in there. it has air conditioning and heating so that iis a bonus.

  13. well done amy on good breeding so far, hope you get some more good results.
  14. he is a very beautiful dog as KAz said but it looks as though he keeps your hands full judging by what you say about him in your new birdroom thread.
  15. Kaz i was thinking when i get the breeding boxes i will put the pair i want to mate together in the middle of November, that way when the eggs will hatch it will be December so i will be on school holidays, therefore i can be around 24/7 if they need me, i would probably only breed at this time each year.
  16. yeah deans got a good theory. if you dont already put some cuttlefish in there its great for their beaks
  17. in my avairy i have sand, soaks up everything, then you just take out old sand and get new.
  18. well done splat doing that with your injury:( . good luck
  19. yes that is the hardest part of breeding
  20. hang in there splat, just think when your done and pumping out new babies by the minute youll know that it was worth it.
  21. hey you guys wanted pics but my cameras broken, these are older pics of my budgies Rosie Scruff Puff
  22. okay cool, the only taming thing i know is when your budgie gets used to you or sometimes straight away if he is friendly is to get him to perch on your finger. all you need to do when he is friendly is gently press your finger side ways on his stomach, if you can get close enough and he trusts you he will hop on. it feels very good when this happens.
  23. hey lilly do you just want him to talk or do other stuff.
  24. well done on your first show.
  25. where could i get the breeder boxes that you told me about. also kaz i am going to change from colony breeding, because from what i have read there are better ways, i just need to know where to get the breeding boxes that you were telling me about. oh and get my parents to drive me there:rolleyes:
