    Hi Stuey :sadsorry:
  2. Oh Nubbly, I can't imagine how terrifying that must have been to find your husband lying there injured. I hope you are okay too. :sadsorry:
  3. Yes, true Nerwen. Its called positive reinforcement training. 'Try' to ignore bad behavior and reward good behavior with treats, pats and lots of attention . Works well with children too :sadsorry: Ps. Splat after he does something like tear up your chair, you can give him 'time out' in a small room, shed, laundry for 5mins. Somewhere that is VERY boring. But you have to catch him in the act or else he won't know what he has done wrong. Best of like with the little guy.
  4. Sorry to hear about your special hen Anne
  5. I would say male also.
  6. Sorry to hear about your friends birds. It must be frustrating for her when she is trying to do all the right things.
  7. When they find who did it, they should lock them up and throw away the key.
  8. I hope she gets better very soon GB

Oh Splat, I really hope your sons house is safe from the flood waters
  10. Thanks Splat I will give her a go tomorrow with a 5 day old chick. The 5 day old chick is now happy with full crop in foster parents nest. I put him in at 8am, checked at 12pm and he had a full crop and then checked again 3.45pm, still good. Thank you again Splat for your advice Ps. Should I take out all the clear eggs now? Or leave them in because I plan on giving her another chick or two. well how old will the chicks you put in be ?? if they will be new born leave eggs your planing to replace but take rest if planing on moving older chicks out and leaving new borns in as they hatch then take eggs away i would move in the first three oldest and leave new chicks with mum Cheers GB I was thinking about giving her another chick tomorrow (Saturday), that will be 6 days old and one more on Sunday that will be 5 days old.
  11. Awww. That would have been good to see.

  14. Fantastic advice Splat :thankyou: I have a hen that laid 5 clear eggs and 1 egg was DIS. It would have been due about now, so I was going to give her a couple of foster chicks. I gave her a 1 day old chick but she didn't feed it, so put it back. Will it be okay to give her an older chick like you mentioned?
  15. She sounds very determined to lay. Best of luck with her Ratzy
  16. When dogs jump on you they are saying hello and wanting attention. So, when he jumps up turn your back to the dog with your arms folded and ignore him and even walk away. When he sits nicely for you, then give him a pat. Will your partner be taking him to obedience training? Might help him learn to behave
