Funny Beak
have a babie that is always getting out of nest box way to early and on inspection instead of just poping it back the first few times noticed it has a top beak sitting just inside the bottom beak there is no hard food stuck in it very clean to have made it misshapened what is the best way to deal with this the bird is chasing parents for food they are still feeding it at the moment but seem to be slowly ignoring it i gave it some handfeeding today but want to know whether to trim the bottom beak or not and or will it fix itself

found it elsa them all your birds look exellent the other bird has beautiful colours havent seen one of those before beautiful and i love all the pictures but im still bias about the greywing and the texas colours i have baby texas out now flying but their colour has a lot of suffision no where as good as yours and there was one plain yellow in the nest as well this time no suffision their father has more suffision in him than my other male that bred sunny guess this is where it came from wont be breeding him with same hen again going to experimentate your aviary looks big you would have lots of room in it they are very lucky birds thats why they look great

im so pleased thats great to hear no i havent looked yet will do ive been off and away for two weeks roughly buying crest budgies i got 9 visual with full heads and tuffs and half heads they are mauves and white ones and blues and green and grey they only culls but they diamonds to me we gave one a haircut as it was only looking out one side of his face now hes livened up chasing everything that moves and we saw lovely breeder aviarys with birds that made me jealous you should of seen the trophys ribbons ect unbelievable the ones i brought are nearly finished quarintine now too so thats exiciting and when i got home i had a nest with 2 visual crest babies and two non showing but unfortually ive lost one of the visual babies dont know why big babie well fed they out of crestbred hen and visual male very dissapointing as these pairings dont throw many visuals but thats whats all over the net telling you to pair like that personally i have better percentage with crest to crest but any way oh well will find your post and have a look

Cook Or Not
When my budgies eat the soaked rice, they "hull" the outer coating and eat the inside as if it were a seed. They take little bites of it at a time. They do not like it cooked, maybe because there is really nothing to hull that way? thank you i have done three lots of diffrent rice and gave it to my birds so far so good i havent gave to all my birds i suppose you could say im using some as guinea pigs i mean ive gave it to my birds that have never had any troubles with diffrent things and retired and birds im not breeding so if something did go wrong there is no babies or anything involved i did raw rice brown and then cooked with vegs and things mixed in the birds swamped it thank you again

Another Sick Budgie
but they choose not to have done that and its not good to just watch it in a cage doing nothing we cant get her to take it and i dont like reading about the bird just sitting there while help and the offers isnt or cant be acted on unfortually in this case so you try to find something that in her experience and circumstances she can do that will enable the bird to have some sort of chance like i said i would rather try anything than nothing the fact it could die by a spoon feed is irelevant because if it did its a lot quicker than starving over days and once again the poor thing is dieing anyway so far better to try than not and watch it starving in this case i like everyone really wish she would or could have be able to have taken up the offers yesterday but this is how it looks at the moment1/ vet not possible2/ libby not yet3/ could at least try something simple4/ do nothing exept discuss its not playing vets to provide some basic things trying to help you out instead of you only being able to watch untill something is sorted out and i for one have made sure to try to state that your age and expience and circumstances have made it harder for you to deal with this moreso than us adults if we were in your situation
-
Another Sick Budgie
this time im going to differ in opioion because for the last couple of days we have had a bird just sitting there wasting away while questions have been asked and offers put out but not being able to be taken up on we have a young person that probably hasnt got a crop tube well obiousbly hasnt done it anyway even if they did whereas on the other end everyone has a spoon and its not beyond her age and experience to try and bird is dieing anyway i know how hard it is for a adult to crop feed a very sick bird and the spoon for a young person in that situation in far better than keeping looking in the cage doing nothing but questioning you have nothing to lose in that situation at all just a thought

Scalyface On A Found Bird
yes he was good and only charged the normal avian consult fee instead of that and then whatever you have done after that whereas i never got smears autopsy or anything else done at all this time it will be good for you when you get the outcomes of your birds it would be stressful waiting for you but it will be a help for others to learn from as they say something good from something sad
-
Another Sick Budgie
yes i agree with all and just read all the post libby offered hours ago would of been better for the bird i thought it just happened in which case tea gives bit of energy to get to proper vet help
-
Another Sick Budgie
yes you can and just put the tinyest bit on the spoon at a time dont fill it right up theres not much else at this stage left to do if something not done quickly the longer a bird sits not doing anything the more downhill it goes darl
-
Another Sick Budgie
try to give it a crop feed if you can if not try some black tea or chamoile tea made up put a bit on a spoon and see if it will drink it that way it needs some energy soon dear
