  1. I've heard the same thing but I am not sure which gene it is...
  2. Good luck with the pictures... Computers these days...
  3. Thanks SJW... It was the only safe way I could think of... Hope some others have some ideas too..
  4. Good luck and can't wait to see what you build for your budgies...
  5. I have never had problems when removing babies for handraising even if it's half of the nest... But others here will defiantly be more experienced in that department of handraising and I'm sure others can give you more advice and share their experiences on the subject too... Removing nests... Hmmm... Can be tricky, cause you don't want to remove them all and leave one nest in there while you are waiting for babies to fledge... Other hens will want that nest and there could be fights... I would maybe leave the nests in there till all young have fledge but when a hen starts to lay new eggs, replace them with the false eggs so that will stop her laying more eggs (draining her of her calcium supply) and you don't have to wait for more babies to fledge... *The waiting game, everything around in a big circle same thing over and over again...* I'm sure others can help out too... ... Good luck and can't wait for pictures...
  6. Hee Hee... I reckon that is what they were talking about too... ... Love it... Congratulations...
  7. It is really hard to buy or even find someone who build's aviaries and sells them for a good price too... It isn't really fair on people like us, who love birds... But Kaz suggestion with the shed is the best way to go, if you have the spare time to do it that is... Good luck and hope you find what your looking for...
  8. They are all just healthy and beautiful... My fingers are crossed for your breeding success... Good luck...
  9. She is just beautiful... Oh and I think she is very special budgie... ... She will make her owner, you jen, very proud... Just look at that face... Love...
  10. Congratulations on the baby and eggs... Can't wait for pictures... With the handraising you can handraise a few from each nest and leave some for mum and dad, if you wanted to handraise but don't want 30 of them... And I don't blame you that is alot to look after... Good luck though...
  11. ... Hee Hee... I like the picture Liv... Just a question, what did the budgie eat...? He looks very happy and full too... Defiantly too small of a picture to tell... ... Good luck with the next photo...
  12. Hmmm... ... What will they be...
  13. I like that rule of thumb Kaz...
  14. I agree with Elly on the sex's of the Budgies...
  15. Just a picture perfect moment... I love the look you get after you stop too... That "But why, I didn't say stop" look... Hee Hee ... So cute...!
  16. Such cute little pink bums... They were... Love the shade of Blue's you got, just beautiful... You have done a great job with them, you should be proud of yourself...
  17. Thanks Kaz and Lynneski... I hope they will enjoy the space and designs I have come up with for them... Hopefully it's enough... Spare time, Hmmm... Let me know when you find some cause I'm looking too... Wont have much of it once I move...
  18. I'm glad you found it funny... ... I did... I always like a good joke or funny comment, always seems to make the day better... I bet she is laughing on the inside when her owner gets frustrated with her... I know my do... They look at me like "What are you doing, I spent all day doing that?" Poor silly little baby, they think they know what their doing... ... *When I'm 16 I'm leaving home, doesn't always work like that little budgie...* But I'm glad s/he is okay though...
  19. Poor neighbour... ... That would have been a nice site for them to see... ... Hope the wind dies down tomorrow, the rain I like but not the wind like it was today...
  20. I'm sorry to hear what happen... ... Glad you got to the baby in time, great work and a pat on the back... Defiantly keep doing what your doing while you can... Like budgiehero said if your budgie is still alive now, than you are defiantly doing something right... Soft foods may defiantly be the way this little guy has to go, but it depends on how much of his beak is missing too... I have seen birds adapt to missing part of their beak and continue to eat seed... Some can't eat the normal size seed they get, but will eat smaller seed just fine... I guess it all just depends on the birds itself... Good luck and like I said well done for everything you have done so far for this little guy...
  21. Cheeky lil... ... budgie...! The wind must have been everywhere today than... Sometimes I find not all area's get the wind when it rains... Smart budgies for hinding... I told mine thats it not my fault if you catch a cold... Do you think they would listen... Nope... Sheesh... You lucky with the nest though... Anything you can do to stop your hen pulling the doors off... Maybe she just wanted to do some spring cleaning... Bit early for that though...
  22. She is beautiful... Good luck with the photo's... Budgies never sit still, like kids I tell ya... Gotta love them...
  23. Thanks Budgiehero and Elly... I currrently have them in a 3mLx2mW aviary... I also have a 6mLx3mW, 6 bay aviary for the parrots and another 3mLx2mW, 2 bay aviary, which is one bay for my Zebra Finch and the other as a sale bay... Once I move I will have a Budgie room (converted shed) which is 12mLx6mW... This will have the budgie aviaries, breeding cabinets, quarantine aviary, sale aviary, holding cages, hospital cage, brooders, everything I need plus more so I've been told... Hmmm Don't know if I'll have room for seed now... Joking... There's an area for storing seed too...
  24. Thanks Budgiehero and Elly... I couldn't do anything outside here... It was raining from morning to evening, didn't stop... Poor birds they hated it... Hanging off the wire, getting all wet... Poor babies... But the wind here was bad... Glad my aviaries are still standing... Was it bad where you are too?
  25. Just reposting some pictures... So it shows the picture, not the link... Hmmm... Sure I fixed that before... Oh well... Fergie... Flower... Frost... Gradey... Ice... Jerri... King... LandSlide... Lemon-Lime Bitters... Lil Lizzie... Madam... Mauvice... Thanks Lynneski... ... These guys I haven't started breeding with yet, as I am moving house... Well I'm building on a 5acr block and setting up new aviaries and a new budgie room... The house should be finished before Xmas and I hope to start breeding with these guys sometime early next year... I have completely new stock and have been buying these guys since Jan this year... Buying up when I see good stock for sale... Before I had the everyday pet shop budgies, some were Clubs though... Last year (when I sold everyone) I planned to get into Clubs, Crested and Texas-Clear Bodies, so this year I have... I like the idea breeders only breed a few varieties they like but I can't choose which varieties I like, so all of them will just have to do... Hee Hee Thank you Pearce... ... Lemon-Lime Bitters... Now she is a story... Poor girl... I got her from a pet shop (wont name names) after having a heated talk with the manager about her condition... She was a young budgie with scaley face bad... Real bad and she was still on show for sale... Surprised, no not really... He claimed it was a normal part of budgie life and I said something like no its not, told him what it was and it just went through one ear and out the other... In the end I think the manager got sick of me, gave me the bird and said now leave and don't come back... So I took her and treated her... After a good couple of months of treatments and quanatine she moved outside, went through her adult moult and now she looks like what you see now... Not the best start in life but I hope she knows she is safe and loved now... She isn't even a year old... She my favourite too, but shhh don't tell the others I may get into trouble... Here is a picture of her going through her first moult...
