Japanese Quail
Have you got a copy of the "A Guide to Pigeons, Doves and Quails" book... I would highly recommend it... There is information about them in there... I had Jap quails before and had the same problem with the net... No information... If you don't have it I can scan those pages and email them to you so you have some information at least... Let me know...

Hello There...
My name... Geez... Well its LittleBudgie because I don't like to be a big fish in the ocean... Small ones always seem to get away quicker... Hee Hee... And 2005 is used because that is when I got seriously into Budgies... Always had them and breed them before hand but in 2005 something went wrong in my life and my budgies were there for me... I guess like a dog for some people... My budgies always listened to my problems and loved me none the less... But they never did talk back, which I am glad to say... Hee Hee

Every state in Australia has a code they put before the year number........ for 2008 it can be X8 diamond 8 dash 8 etc The "zero"with the line appears to be the code for that year with the zero after it so the year would be 2000 Cool... Makes sence now... Thanks Kaz... :hap:
-
Hoss
Just a question Kaz, than why would they put the line in the second zero...? *confused as to why anyone would*

5 Eggs
I always happy if my lay eggs... But than again I guess I'm easily pleased... But 5 is a great average to get all the time... Like everyone has said, every budgie is different... I believe it depends on many factors... age (mature, old, young), diet (during and after breeding season), lifestyle condition (how clean the aviary is, containers, etc) and much more... Oh and even the male can have an effect on the females breeding too, example clear eggs...
-
Hoss
Poor Hoss... He's life is over... :hap: Young female budgies to look at for the rest of rest life... Poor boy... Hee Hee... I'm sure he'll have a great life you Emma... And the ring... ... Well, I'm not sure at all... there is a 0 and something else... Good luck finding out what it is... Could be a 6 but it seems to join up on the other end... Hmmm...

New Baby's!
Yes a hen will still lay an egg even without a nesting box if she has one inside... If you have breeding cabinets and you still want to keep the budgie pairs in that, than once the young have fledge block the nesting box hole with a piece of towel/cloth, that will also help the hen stop laying eggs...
