Rats do real damage when they attack ... whereas when a bird dies sometimes the others will peck a bit at the carcass. I'm leaning towards mass poisoning seeing as the quails died at the same time, do you live near an industrial site of some kind? Also ask about the neighborhood to see if anyone did any fumigation on the day in question. Whatever you do don't put rat bait inside the aviary! So Sorry to hear about your loss, weird that the quail's died to.... my only thought whould be either someone has used fumigation in your area and the wind has travelled it towards your aviary.... or the most logical seeing that it's been raining, is the seed went mouldy and created bacteria... in which the quail's will surely pick at all day.... so that's the most logical answer....
  13. ....Picture #4.... now THAT is SKILLFULL!
  14. Budgie's hide their illness to the point where it's too late to save them usually... and yes they will sit their and pretend to eat... but they are only picking up the seed and dropping it again...try everything you can and hopefully he survives... where is he at the moment? is he with the bourke?

What an absolute beauty of a set-up! congrats... no wonder their breeding already... it's perfect for them..... May i suggest just 1 peice of sheet at the back of the flight....cause that way hopefully the rosella's will land on the sheet of tin and poo on it instead of on the wire and through the cage for the budgie's to touch...
  23. Part of the reason i got rid of my budgie's (except 8) because of colony breeding issue's.... i had a nest slaughtered by one of the hen's... which spelt the end of colony breeding budgie's for me.... so fortunately i have taken up cabinet breeding and am replacing my budgie aviary once cleaned etc with regent parrot's...
