Budgie Goes Mad ! Stressed ?
Maddy might be right Giardia is a possibility he seems to be irritated, wouldn't hurt to put him on a course of Ronivet to be on the safe side.

I have got Clearbodies and splits which are par ino's and I also have greywing clearbodies but they don't have the ino red eye that this hen has. I have taken a couple of more pictures, the camera doesn't seem to capture the colour exactly and she still is yet to fully colour but here they are.

Thanks for your comment, her markings have a grey tone to them not brown like my lacewings. I am thinking she might be a heavily suffused lutino as she seems to have quite a bit of body colour as well. Just something I haven't seen in thirty odd years of breeding, she is similar to the platinum or par ino type birds. I will have a play with her and put her with a nice male then use her sons to see what I get. Cheers Jenny

Not Sure
Hi Guys I bred this hen and I'm not sure what colour she is and would be interested in what you all think. She hatched with red eyes and as the pins came through showing colour I automatically thought she was a lacewing but she is definately different than my other lacewings, she is colony bred so dad is probably a raffle. She seems to have grey tones in her wings instead of the usual brown tones anyway here are some pictures and see what people think. Cheers Jenny

Post Pictures: Of Your Dogs
Congrats Kaz Here are some pics of my babies This is Simba she is supposed to be border collie cross springer spaniel but I think she may have pointer in her but who knows. She is 14 years old now and has had a couple of strokes but she still thinks she is a puppy sometimes. This is Sarge our German Shepherd he is the man of the house, he is five years old and we originally got him after we had some birds stolen. He definately makes people aware that he is here when they come, but he is well behaved and just lets us know when someones here, he is a bit spoilt for a guard dog. Last but not least is our new puppy Wally he is a Border collie cross groodle {golden retriever poodle cross} and gives everyone something to smile at, always full of energy and living up to his name constantly. At the moment he is all legs and still growing but he seems to be quite smart and is well mannered. Here at 8 weeks at 17 weeks All together now The quiet times

Hi and It may be that the chicks are just huddled in the corner, without pics it is hard to say if there is a problem. Moving them will not help just make sure they don't seem cold and there crops are full of food and they should be fine. But if you can get some pics someone will be able to tell you if they are healthy or not. Cheers Jenny

New Member With Colour/variety Question
Hi Nett.H Thats a mixed bag you have there it is a bit hard to tell from the photos what the exact colours are, your yellow bird looks to be a lacewing as it has to much suffusion to be a lutino but it could also be a double factor spangle if it has black eyes. I can't see your pied properly but if it has solid black eyes with no ring it will be a recessive pied. As for what colours you may get it will depend entirely on what the birds are carrying genetically as your hens are both green series birds and your cocks are blue so unless your hens carry the blue gene you will get all green series birds from them. Bit like a lucky dip really but thats the fun of trying. All of the hens from your opaline cock will be opalines at least that much is for sure

New Breeder! Help!
The chances of the last egg hatching are slim but it wont hurt to leave the egg there anyway.

New Breeder! Help!
Hi Megan The average age for a budgie is about six years but it is not unusual for them to live till they are ten or more years old, more so now there are better quality feeds and suppliments available. Your male is most likely pacing the cage as he will be looking for you to bring extra food now that he has babies to look after but it may also be him adjusting to his new cage. My birds are always exitedly waiting for their soft feed when they have young in the nest. Cheers Jenny

Some Of My 09 Bred Birds
Thanks for that Kaz :bliss: Thanks Robyn it just boils down to lots of patients and lots of photos and a camera you trust. I still prefer to use my old camera to my new one its just what I'm used to. The great thing about digital cameras is you can take as many as you like and just keep the good ones. Cheers Jenny

Some Of My 09 Bred Birds
Hi Robyn thanks for your comments. Sorry I couldn't tell you the exact parents of that bird as they were colony bred and I did a lot of switching around I could guess but a few of my birds can throw that colour combination he is a greywing opaline green dominant pied, guess you could call him a clearflight, I tend to just seperate them into either dominant or recessive pieds. Now I better go and resize all my pics, thought I'd done it before I uploaded them, silly me. Cheers Jenny

Greywing Spangle Or Cinnamon?
Hi Lealotta looks more like greywing to me in those pics. Cheers Jenny

What Could I Get.
Hi Robyn it apears to me that the only hen from the clutch is the cinnamon violet recessive pied the rest of them seem to be and should be cocks their ceres look to be more flesh coloured than brown. Cheers Jenny Also forgot to add that the hen at the start of your post appears to be the same as the mother of all the birds in question from looking at all the pics.

Sexing Please
Hi To me both the pieds look like males but the albino looks like a hen. Cheers Jenny

Oh My Goodness! Desperately Need Help
I agree with the others as in take the hen out and let the dad continue to feed them until they are weaned. As for the injured one leave him with dad also as long as the bleeding has stopped, and keep an eye on him to make sure he is getting fed hopefully he will feed him until he learns how to feed by himself or you can hand rear him. I have had a few birds with beak injuries that have continued to be fed by the parents and gone on to learn to eat without most of their beak. I have a red rumped parrot hen who had her top beak removed to just under the cere by another parrot who managed to learn to eat and later managed to raise her own babies, so it may be a matter of supporting this baby until it can manage on its own, you may have to offer it soft food for longer than you would normally do but it is worth a try. Cheers Jenny
