Finnie's Breeding Journal
I have now used 7 of my rings, 4 on Colleen's chicks and 3 on Finnie's. It's probably a good thing for one of Phoebe's eggs to be clear, because I have 21 eggs, but only 20 rings! But it doesn't take long to order more. Colleen's oldest is showing yellowface! She will be my first Yf2 opaline. Yay! Colleen's 4th chick also has white down. So far, 4 for 4, with 3 more left to grow. I'm hoping that Patrick will turn out to be split for opaline, because I would like a green opaline, too. It's cute now, because when I hold the older chicks, their little toes cling to my fingers like a real bird, and the try to climb upwards, all the while stretching and flapping their long wings!

Is This A Clearwing?
I am just learning, so we will have to wait for the others. But is it also a spangle?

Finnie's Breeding Journal
Well, Finnie's 6th chick arrived this morning. By afternoon it was fed . She now just has 3 left to go. Phoebe also has 3 eggs left, but one was known to be clear. Since she skipped hatching one out yesterday, maybe #3 was the clear one. #4 is due tomorrow, so we'll see if she's back on schedule. I am now officially looking forward to not having any eggs left, and just having chicks! (It's kind of a relief now to check Colleen's box and know they have all hatched.) My fear now is that I will drop one. I am sooo careful. But sometimes they stick together. Once a note card fell to the floor and made a sound as I was lifting a chick, and my first thought was "OMGsh! There must have been a 2nd one stuck on!! NO!!! I was soooo relieved that it was a paper! Recovers from mini heart- attack...

I'm glad budgie heads don't really look like that. It's too weird.

Oh My Goodness! Desperately Need Help
It's great to see four people jumping to your rescue and posting simultaneously! You will have to decide what's best to do with the chick. Having a little one of your own to feed, I wouldn't blame you if you didn't have the time right now to hand feed the chick. If it is a permanent disability, and it will never eat on it's own, euthanasia may be for the best.

It Has Been A Month Now!
He sure is cute, Birdluv! Do you give him the rice and lentils separate from vegetables? I will have to think about adding those to my birds' diet. His newer photos show his black bars very nicely. I remember thinking he was cinnamon at first, and he wasn't. But now I can tell that the first photos just had different lighting. It's hard to believe a month has gone by! :sadsorry:

Finnie's Flock
Thanks, Kaz. I will check on the whereabouts of that toy. I think it got old and thrown out. :sadsorry:

Finnie's Flock
Time for the next installment of my flock. In the foreground, is Ariel. She is my first recessive pied. In the store, I picked her out because I hoped she was male. After the guy caught her for me, her cere began to look pale around the nostrils, so I didn't buy her. But I really liked her, so after I searched around and found some other male birds to buy, I went back and bought Ariel, too. I thought she looked cinnamon in the store. In fact, to tell the guy which bird I wanted, I told him the purple and white one with the brown spots on the wings. There were about 4 fitting that description, but some of them looked blacker than others. Once I got her home, she didn't seem so brown anymore. In fact, I got a different cinnamon girl later, and now Ariel looks nothing like cinnamon to me. Since I needed a male bird to go with her to keep my flock even, I bought Keegan at the same time: Keegan is a dark eyed clear, green series. I'll have to breed him to find out what he is masking. Here are some more pictures of Keegan and Ariel. Here's Ariel between the cinnamon hen and a greywing: Later I will try to get pictures of more of them. :sadsorry:

Oh, Dave, I am very sorry.- Finnie's Breeding Journal
The IPS Driver error has been killing me today!!! I was so excited about Colleen's 7th and final egg hatching! I wanted to post, and tell Macka: "Guess what? None clear!! Yay!!" In this picture, I moved all the big ones out of the way, but you can still barely see #7: Now for some photos showing the feathers coming in on the older ones. The oldest: The second oldest: The third chick: Based on the white down on all 3 of these, I guess they are all girls. (I know the cere pics arent' that great, but the down will tell, with these parents.) Of the younger four, I have looked at the ceres and made guesses, but I won't post those until later, because my batting average here is only .500 The first four all have rings on them. I'm keeping an eye on Finnie's as to size, but her first isn't quite big enough for a ring yet. Finnie also had a new hatchling this morning, number 5 for her. You can see it at top right, with it's head butting the egg: (Phoebe still has two.)- Brown Cheek Patches?
What Dave said!- Hello Everyone!
Your budgies are beautiful! Welcome to the forum.- Air Sucking
Krosp, wasn't this one of his symptoms from when he was sick? Or did you find out in was unrelated?- Redoing My Aviary's Floor
Very nice, Dave. At first I thought, how can he do this in the middle of winter? But of course, once I saw the photo, I remembered that it is summer, where you are! By the way, where did you move all the concrete slab pieces to?- New To Bcf - Some Of My Flock
Richie, I think she was only sitting this way because it's awkward on the corner of the seed cup. I'm sorry for your loss. She was a cutie. -Finnie - Finnie's Breeding Journal
