the mesh is around it because of cats that have recently got a few of my birds.i am colony breeding because im 15yrs old and dont have the time and money to individualy take every pair out so they can mate. and ive had birds breed before like this back at my old townthe birds might be hunched because it is 6 degrees at the moment the food is seed and grit and silverbeat ocasionalythe floor is concrete slab i made. with quaillthankscamand the seeder hangs from the roofcam

hi all. i have had my aviary for many years now i have got new birds male and females, put more boxes in. i am colony breeding as i dont have the time and money to individually do it and im just after breeding for enjoyment not for colours. i cant get them to breed. ive seen 2 birds mating but nothing happened all the birds seem to be paired up and kissing one and other but i dont know whats wrong. i feed them with silverbeat and celery 3-4 times a week too any help would be greatly apreciated cam

hi all havent been on here for a while, ive got a seeder that spins that is green on the bottom and has little prongs poking out where the seed is , its like a spot for each bird to eat, my question is it always gets seed on 1 side and none on the other and there is always no new seed coming thru the top, i have tried lossiong it off and all but i dont know whats wrong, is there something im doing wrong? thanks in advance cameron

hi all when i bought my aviary a couple of years ago i got 4 budgies in there and there was no mating i got 2 males later as there were 3to1 females previously these males apperead more interested with each other and they still didnt mate so i got 3 more a couple of days ago and suddenly 2 of the older birds are kissing and mucking around and another two are doing the same and ive been asked by a lady to take good care of 4 of her budgies as she is moving and im wondering will it most probably make some kind of problems with these couples like less interest as there may be (better looking birds) around? or fighting? just a question? cheers cameron

i lost my best friend today turbo i got her when she was in my aviary attacked by her mum in the nesting box so i rescued her when i was 11 she died today because of eggbound i think she was about 3 years old she talked and said pretty boy, sat on my finger and shoulder and tried to eat everything i was eating like icecream apples etc she has helped me through some very bad times in my life and i have loved her all the way RIP turbo you are my best friend love cameron :sad: :sad:

it defenatly works act like it dosent hurt and they will stop .. cameron

turbo used to do that but she has stopped now she also used to sleep in the seed container as well cameron

hi all my budgie turbo has always sat on the top of her seed containers chirping and waiting for me to come and talk to her and let her out for a fly. when i do let her out she will follow me everywere and sit on my shoulder and i will say prettyboy which i taught her to say and she will repeat it and her tail will lift up and she will get white rings in her eyes. i think she is attached to me because once she goes back in her cage she will go back on the seed container and chirp and i will talk to her then she will go back on her perch a few minutes later she will be on the seed containers again and she poos in her water and seed all the time. i feel guilty when i leave her while she is on the seed containers chirping because i feel she is really bored should i buy her some new toys? there is 1 toy in her cage which she has had since she was born (3years) and that is the only toy she will touch all the other ones are like brand new. i think she might be attached to things to easily. does anyone know how i can stop this atention seeking and calm her down? thanks in advance cameron

hi i went to my local petshop and it was 50% off everything to do with birds excludes cages i bought 2 calci perches for $3.50each these are the big ones a new water dispencer $4.00 and the best thing i have ever bought a bird bath $5.00 the one you hang on the cage it has a cover. i put it in when i got home my budgie got straight in there and got wet and it made no mess (thats nice for a change) cam

i have a female budgie turbo she got attack by her mum in the box next morning i got up and checked up on the birds and she was in the corner floor of the aviary with blood and feathers missing from her head so i thought i would look after her about 3 weeks later i begged mum to keep her so i did she has only ever once bitten me she talks goes on finger and all of that way more tame than my previous male pet i think females can be tame aswell but they can get eggbound like one other of my birds hope it helps cameron

hi i went away on the long weekend and my budgie has bitten off both her front claws i have left it thinking it will be fine i just want to be on the safe side .she has always picked at them . her feet are not the same as a normal budgie they are flakey or scaly almost. i have attached a picture but it is not very good it goes blurry when i go close so i have edited it to make it easier to see. can anyone tell me what to do or what this is. her feet have been flakey ever sice she was born. thanks cheers cam s

hi everyone thanks very much for all your help i moved around turbo's cage, new perches etc moved the cage as well turbo is much happier he doesent hiss any more and is more nice this is what the cage is like now

hi i bought an aviary yesterday and i would like to have a breeding cabinet and breed them properly does anyone know any plans ideas what materials etc to make a breeding cabinet to help me get started cheers cam
