  1. ....convert them for an early age...
  2. I have 6 training cages in teh bird room. When I go in at night to feed and water the birds, i'll place 6 of the show team in the training cages for a bout 1/2 hour. I try not to pay too much attention at first but every 5 mins or so just encourage them to perch. This happens every night for two to three weeks leading up to the show. Each night it is a different group in the training cage.. As Heathrow said "I dont know how you get the time to do all this! LOL " As then days go on I spend more attention to them. Image me for the last few days sitting back with a cold beer and a judging stick just watching them and everytime they play up I get them back on the perch. Ah the things we have to do... Most of the time at shows they do behave...
  3. Congratulations Kaz... another for the fancy???
  4. i use Autocad but find it better for Cabinets and Nest Boxes..
  5. The Blow is an action that the bird does with the frontal. (forhead feathers) Simalar to a Peacock with the tail feathers. We say the birds is "Blowing" when it raises the frontal feathers... Nubblies is a very good example of a cock bird blowing..
  6. Just following up.... Have you made a start yet to your Dream? I'd love to see it.
  7. I take it that they were doing this as they were being judged.... They usually are very well behaved when not in front of the judge.

  9. Well if the ATo wants to look into taxing us they will be in for a Big surprise.. What would they say when you claim $2500 for the lost of a Gazzard bird? ..... or would they understand?
  10. Show birds are quieter as a rule due to the handling they get.
  11. To Show, You will need to Join a club first and then get some rings. The club can help you aquire the cages.
  12. Renee' Gracias por su entrada I find that looking into shops interesting.. Many breeders (of all levels0 sell there culls there. Some birds that time to mature and realy show after some time. These are good to try with. Many still have rings on and can be traced. I sell all my birds with rings on. I am proud of all my birds whether Show beaters or not.
  13. Great i'm looking forward to being 30 agian
  14. Some hens don't start incubation until the third egg is laid. If you have other hens laying you can try fostering. "Dead Heat"

Thanks Derek... Here is the resuls
  19. Yes I have breed a Yellowface Blue from two Light greens... So what you (the book) is saying is that Yellowface is recessive and the matrix for the ANBC should change so that a Yellowface doesn't win best dominant?
  20. It has been christened... for birds
  21. The understand starts with the green normal bird. What we see as green is infact a blue yellow bird. The blue gene does not make the bird more blue it removes the yellow pigment cause the blue to remain. For some reason the Yellow factor stops the yellow pigment to be removed from the head and partially from the body (more to the frustration of the yellowface show breeders) Ther grey factor over rides the blue gene causes a yellowface grey. Yellowface face being a dominant gene can occur in double factor. A double factor appears to resemble a normal green bird, but will give 100% yellowface birds.
  22. RIP I think you better go back to the drawing board. Nubby5 got it right.... Both parrents are Split blue and split greywing. One is masking yellowface. The inos are hens the others are not sex linked so can be either Hen or Cock. As Yellowface is a dominant it can't be split but can be masked by a normal green.
  23. .... we look to be a light green cock and light green hen but our off spring are... Yellowface blue Red eyed white Red eyed yellow Greywing blue What are we and what gender could our chicks be?
  24. Interesting that... It was in the albino class and the breeder couldn't understand why it was wrong classed.
  25. She should be able to look after 3 to 4.
