Can Females Be A Good Tame Pet Too?
My females are just as adorable and tame as my males are. They love to mess around and they love to be with people they know. So don't you worry about that

We're Building An Aviary In The North
I'm planning to build an aviary this summer. Not at our home but on the island we are spending our summers at. My talented father is helping me to plan and to build. Lucky me! Here are some photos from the weekend. The most exciting thing that happened was that I shot two field-mice and that my father fell down from a ladder. Unfortunately I didn't took photos of any of that. But anyhow I hope you will prefer pictures of the bird project. Evening 1.We found a good place to build on and sawed down some tiny trees to get mot space. Day 2. The weather wasn't the best but we are not afraid! Here have we the foundation of the house. The foundation of the floor and the structure of the house is fixed. Day 3. I don't know the word but the boards that are holding the roof are done. And the roof And some walls. The holes are supposed to be places for windows and a door. The east wall is done (yes we will close the hole that the kid is watching us trough) This wall is supposed to be in touch with the aviary. The man in the carrot-dress in the evening sun, here is the "roofblanket" (haha made that word myself, I don't know the English verision) Day 4. we are nailing the last and then we take our boat and go home. And from the other side. Aaaah, nicenice. If everything goes as I have planned the birds will get sea view from the aviary.

Sounds familiar :mallet:- Bush Budgies
They are unbelievable sweet bush or not. I am one of few (?) who prefer the originally form of budgies rather than the English version. (gosh that sentence was bad written I’m afraid)- Urgent Budgie Help
Thank you for that link Kaz! It was a good article.- Scandinavian Budgie Owner
Thanks! Most of the time I use my Canon EOS 450D, sometimes I use my smaller camera, a Canon PowerShot A710 IS. Most of the photos in my first post is taken with my bigger camera (450D). In the summers (June, July, August) it is around 20°C here (which should be around 70ºF), so yes they can be outside in aviarys. I don't have anyone yet but we are going to build one soon! Some of my friends who have parrots let their budgies be outside all year around, of course they can go inside if they want to, they got special food and they are common with the temperature since month back in time. So on the days they are outside playing in the snow and in the nights they go inside for sleeping. Pretty cool accourding to me! In the winters it can be around -20ºC (-4 ºF). But like I said, the aviary-birds can go inside if they want to.- New Bird Boy Or Girl Please ?
What a beautiful boy! But I agree with that he is older than 12 weeks.- Introducing Myself, And My Beautiful Budgies
Hi and welcome!- Too Much Calcium
Thanks for that link! Interesting article.- French Moult
COLD weather must be the answer Making plans to house budgies in an IGLOO I'm sorry to tell that FM is in Scandinavia too, and it isn't that hot here... But an igloo for you would be great! You can take photos and show us so we can laugh without mention it.- Too Much Calcium
UV-lamps for birds work too, it is NOT the same lamp as the reptiles use though. Windows close the UV-light out By The Way.- Some Pics
TCB is such a beautiful color!- Hello ;)
Cool to live in Japan! Welcome- Tweetaville Community
They have beautiful feathers, looks like you take good care of them :hooray: Do you know what the yellow things around their eyes are? One of my friends birds - who also lives in an aviary - looks like that sometimes, she took them to one of Sweden’s best vets the first time she saw it, and he had never seen it before! They ran some tests but they never find out what it was. When I had my birds in an aviary they get that yellow thing too... I suppose it isn't dangerous but it would be interesting to know what it is.- Too Much Calcium
Thank you for the answers! And so do I, except I don't have any breeding birds.- Baby Budgerigars
Sweet babies! Especially Kiwi :hooray:- Captive Foraging With Squee
Still loving this thread! It really inspires me! Here are some of my bird's captive foraging-toys Hidden food Food and grass Hidden food-bowl Look at her tiny little tail feather, fun moulting. ehe. :hooray: Food and grass in a box. The destroyed the box. Food in a candybox Food in parcel (is that the right word?) Food and paper in basket. (The basket has my grandfather made) I don't know the word for the paper-thing but it is food inside it. This doesn't really count :hooray:- Too Much Calcium
I heard someone worry about their budgie getting too much calcium, I have never heard about it before so I ask you (because you are pros ): How much calcium are they supposed to eat before they get ill, and what are the symptoms? What will happen if they get "too much", is it even possible? If you have any good articles for me I would be happy!- Baby Birds.
