  1. Wow!! :laughter: I agree with you in this instance DrNat, but the other purpose it serves is to prevent people from going out a taking their own pets from the wild, which of course they shouldn't do. In that situation they would deserve the fines and I suspect this licensing would be saving more animals than its killing. In this case I'd start looking after the duck and follow up on the other stuff afterwards. If she gets fined for that, then I'll join your protest march!!
  2. I didn't realise you needed a permit for a duck?? We have a pair of wild ducks move into our pond in the backyard every year. We feed them when they're here and they have become so used to us they come inside if we leave the door open (not that we do that intentionally). I definitely keep them away from the budgies though.
  3. We've had our budgies for months and they're only just starting to drink in front of us now. Don't panic if you don't see them drink (like I did )
  4. Congrats, she looks great!! I used to have rats, they have personalities more like dogs than mice! I really wish I could get another but Michele has made it clear there is no chance of that.
  5. Thanks By The Way these are their cages. I know Ozzies is not ideal but it was only supposed to be a quarentine cage, but she has become attached to it (besides the colour really suits her ) . She spends most of her time on top of Ernie's cage anyway. I did try putting her in Ernie's cage, but she just looked really nervous and Ernie just sat on his favourite perch and closed his eyes. As soon as I put her back in her own cage, they both continued playing with their toys.
  6. They're both finger tame. In the mornings they both sit by their doors and immediately jump onto my finger ready to come out and at night time, they both happily step up to go back in their cages, but if you try to put them away early, you have a bit of a chase on your hands. Ernie will happily sit on your shoulder all day, but Ozzie will fly off every time you walk past the play gym.
  7. Haha, thanks. They both look really healthy to me - touch wood!! Trust me you'll soon get flooded by my questions if they show any signs of ill health! The picture is Leon Pericles "In search of the lost city mountains". I think his art is really interesting: http://www.leonpericles.com.au/ (I think the budgie poo in the top of the frame just adds to the appeal! )
  8. Here's baldy & bossy.
  9. Isn't it amazing how similar budgies and humans are! I'll post some pics!
  10. okay well quarantine has finally ended for Ernie and Ozzie. Liv told us that Ozzy ended up being a hen, but we decided we wanted her anyway as she is a real sweetie. But now I can't tell if they really like each other or hate each other or just can't make their minds up. Ernie is moulting and is a bit more grumpy than usual, but still not too bad. Sometimes they seem to ignore each other other times they look as if they're feeding each other and other times they chase each other around sqwarking. Is this normal?? They live in seperate cages that are next to each other as they both seem to be attached to their own cage, but they both come out an play together when ever we are at home. What should I look out for in case they're not getting along? What do budgies that get along well do? Is it okay to keep them in seperate cages next to each other?

  15. Thats horrific. I'd say conditions over there must have been worse yesterday than Ash Wednesday given that fire fighing equipment and practices, as well as public awareness and communication, has advanced so far over the last 25 years and yet a similar number of deaths have occurred. I hope this weather brings the much needed relief!!
  16. Far out! I've just read the news. What a disaster!! Words fail me! Having been through ash wednesday I can imagine the terror you're going through! I hope everyone is okay! good luck, God bless!!
