Haha!! I should add he was really good at it too. You know how moths flutter around and don't fly in a straight line, well he was able to keep an inch or so from the back of the moth most of the time.

Hey!! Those of us new to budgies need experienced people like you to stick around to share your knowledge, even though you don't currently have budgies!! Can you tell me a bit more about the symptoms of your hubby's feather allergy? My son gets mild athsma occasionally induced by allergies from pollen, so its something we'll have to look out for too.

Ernie was out of his cage this moring and one of those large moths was in the hall way. As soon as Ernie saw it he was after it, chasing it up and down the hallway with such determination that he was becoming a bit careless with his flying. I grabbed the moth and threw it outside before Ernie hurt himself. Do budgies always do this and what would he have done if he caught it? He really looked like he wanted to catch it. Now he's sitting on top of his cage scanning the room looking for it.

Ernie doesn't mind the noise at all. I was using the drill and angle grinder in the chook cage the other day while the chooks were in the yard and they all gathered around and watched me.

I'm really sorry to hear that, but its probably for the best. Has anyone got any idea what it was? How horrific!!

You did the right thing Trish, she was lucky to have a responsible owner like you. Less considerate people would have prolonged her pain to ease their own.

Has it been 4 weeks already! Wow that flew. Kif looks great! Has he still got "attitude"?

I want to get one more male budgie. I hope they don't breed! Although that said I have been thinking about getting an aviary and stocking it with nothing but bush budgies. I don't have approval from the fun police at this stage though. in fact she has only just agreed to a second male pet budgie, so I won't push it.

That is tragic, but try not to be too hard on your dog. He probably thought he was keeping you safe from an intruder. Something very similar happened to me many years ago, but the dog didn't know what she was doing.

I have never seen Ernie drink from his water bowl, yet he seems healthy and happy. How much do they drink? He gets fresh vegies a couple of times a week, could that provide enough fluid?
