that is really cool i love it can i ask an all up expence sheet im still looking for alternative to extend Hi G. B. didn't really add it up BUT a handy Hubby helps, we used a recycled car-port for aviary, re-built of course. Then Husband used bed frames to weld up flight section. We had a stack of pavers so he put down one layer then black plastic to stop moisture coming up then a second layer. Lot of work but he did a lovely job of it.(for the floor that was)We had to"crumple" little rolls of bird wire to fill in all the roof contours to stop escapees, that was the hardest part. Making sure it had no escape holes. Then wired all the flight section. The door between aviary and flight we shut before we go in. thank's for your interest. P.S two more egg's last check. recycled bird aviary thats ace sound like kind of things i do lol i thought that looked like a car port but cause the wall i was like nar its a shed conversion just i was discussing with my dad about the car port at my place and ways to turn it into a flight as i dont have a car but mine needs to be removable and able to be placed in original form as im renting lol now i know it is possible will need to think harder mmmmmmmmmmm
  6. buddy....sounds like sitta cose is oh thats so cool thanks kaz,... sitacosic ,mmmmm ,dislexic for psittacosis
  7. well it works for me always has its not the heat its the taste they dont like and the marble thing that actually sometimes works i did it yesterday had a first time layer eat a first egg so i placed a malble in their two actually and she layed today as expected i swaped the egg though(as show test breeding ) with difrent hen who just layed also incase she ate it but no she was quiet happy to sit on them all i took out one marble and left one the chilly thing is last rezort but it works its the taste not the heat (i get the tridents sweet chilly with garlic ) and no extra water needed mm grr we all do things diffrent thats just my way . kaz is right about not always eatting eggs stress not being in condition lots reasons and about letting a hen go just for that or him for that matter
  8. as i said at start sounded like what i got told was one eye cold basicly the eyes become exactly like her one and very quickly the birds are not sick as such but their imune is down they can die if not treated imidiate and its very catchy but basiclly a viris like cold but if you do manage to catch it quick clean and seperate bird and ect the flock will be fine i would not put her back for 3 months really im not jokeing i had that once in my flock and when i thought it safe to put birds back i was wrong i didnt lose any but a hen and her partner i was lucky it went through them all though one at a time took me long time and a house full of caged seprate birds lucky i only had fifteen back then lol 3 month i kept them seperate cleaned aviary changed perches the lot my vet gave me just distiled water to clean their eyes with dayly they all were better in a few days their eyes but i kept them all seperate after the first efort where i put the bird back when eye was better and a week after the other eye was like it and other birds also well if you can try get a name for it please i have never come across it again and it was not parra what ever the long name i can not say is well not quiet three months but close enough to

  11. you all need to come to gippsland it is swarming with greywings and clearbodys ,fellows and black eyed clears even got crest and no i havent forgotten to ask about thoughs gazz show breed and large pet type both rung and un rung i once got a violet red eyed bird that i still dont know what he was for a friend he was marked like a rec pied but had red eyes very deep colour and black wings beautiful bird 20 bucks bargon pitty she wouldnt sell it to me when she moved to perth she sold all bird and told me after not very nice friend when i think about it when i told her i would pay anything for him and i ment anything never seen one since 3 years ago that was some one scored big time probbly doesnt even know it he was club rung too should have got the ring number but didnt care bout them then sorry lost trake well kaz here is my what i thought was a grey wing badley marked and have been since told is a dilute grey green mabe they will look like him he was darker when young seemed to lighten up
  12. doe it have to be budgies i recon it needs to be funny faces of us really ugly stupid pull faces
  13. Do your foster's have egg's/baby's of their own? what i do matt dog is i put up birds i want to breed with and at same time i put up birds that i have wouldnt mind chicks from but lays large clutches say 7 to eight eggs then as all my birds lay on same days or next day as you can see here in my post all the birds lay together meaning all chicks around same ages when hatching two foster hens per few pairs the fosters are birds i know are spot on layers so i pair them up a week in advance to other birds they are also birds i never seprerate they stay with same mate for life in my flock so when i see the other birds ready then i put them all down (remembering i watch who is in condition closely ) the fosters start laying usually two to three days before my other birds so if i need a foster their is two to choose from but its not often that i do they get to raise all their own chicks unless some one has troubble feeding they not really their for any other reason than a respite mum for hens needing help feeding chicks i will stick a chick in for a top up from fosters if i feel mum not doing to good then once feed back with mum as fosters fill the chicks soon as i place them in so they dont always need to stay with foster its hard to explain really but its always worked for me i used a foster to let my lacewing have a first clutch recently foster had 8 eggs lacewing had 5 all clear so i moved the clear egg out and replaced with five fertile due one same days as her own she raised them all hatched them perfict and now i wont have problems when i want to breed her for her true peruse show birds .so they come in many uses i save 4 chicks from madien hens that didnt know what to do with the new one by getting respite feeds then handing the chicks back few days latter as the foster chicks were two days old but pet type so small the bigger birds got the idea second chicks were fed and fosters got their own chick back once i see new mum fed seconed chick then mum gets her own baby back all happy just need very good book work matt dog but matt first time i have really used them was my first failed atempt at show size birds of not show standeds like a try run lol see what im in for .
  14. this one my lacewing hens picture not to good does not do her justice and she been feeding young chicks her so give that a count and i think she is good start for lacewing hen
  15. sounds like a good plan a smart one kill the mice probblem then mouse proof the floor i brought stain a steel messing but that cost **** loads but never rusts i then pop-riveted it to bottom of my aviary floor nothings getting in that way now unless it has a chain saw its fox proof to then im slowly placeing pavers down a few every pay is the plan im also placing on sliding doors to sheid from wind and winter storms made from that c through plastic flat sheets its thin but sun proof one each side and the frount will have a drop down one the bottom all around will be permanant so mice cant climb or jump up and in i dont have mice where i am yet ...... so im getting prepered in case birds are a lot to look after if you really want to do it right i started before i had the right set up and belive me i still have not got the right set up as its a lot to cover you need worming mite proventer a medicine kit minerals cuttle bone iodine shell grit money for freash veggies weekly time to clean the aviry weekly if not twice weekly dayly cleaning of seed trays water picking up of left over greens so they dont go sour you need to clean chicks mouths out dayly and record growth clean boxes and breeding cages dayly or few days check birds over thats half hour to hour just watching each one see if they them self thats if they stay healthy money set aside for vet so you have it when needed or for anything they may need just like bang their and now like dezeze illness the list goes on and on and on belive me if your breeding healthy birds and keeping them housed right and feed corect then its not cheep i just spent 200 on seed alone and that was cheep then each cabnit needs iodine bell and charcol bell and cuttle bone at fewwdollors each i get them bit cheeper but still 1 something each and when chicks come egg n biskit and millet one bunch for 6 dollors does one cage for the duration of 4 weeks ussing one millet spray a day for 5 chicks thats for me over one hundred alone for one clutch per 12 breeding cabnits my seed lasts me just under a month so 150 to two hundred a month just on seed with out the added extras i own around 50 birds give or take up to 35 chicks in nest at any breeding depending how many pairs i place down yes i sell my birds but i dont ask the price i need to get a return on them as i rather place them in loving home not just sell to who ever all birds sold keep other birds fed and healthy but hay its my chossen hobby and worth every cent i can get i clean just to keep my birds toilets yuk lol for extra penny or i could not keep them all but you need at least 6 pairs down at once to save heart ach and chicks so my advice is get everything first birds last if you have birds get everything first then breed good luck and its worth it if done right problems rarly acure form my experiance anyways and its only going to get more expencive going in to show birds .....man

  21. i fill an infertile egg with sweet chilly sauce hot and then reclose it with bit of white out they dont seem to eat them after that or i just take the eggs soon as the lay i take note when it should be layed and take it out straight up i first let them have a egg and see if it happens again before i do any of thoughs things
  22. The formula dil gw / dil cw demands an explanation. A bird having this genotype shows the FBC greywing phenotype because the full bodycolor of the clearwing dominates the diluted bodycolor of the intermediate greywing, on the other hand the grey wings of the latter mentioned dominates the "white" or "yellow" wingcolor of the clearwing. This is not surprizing because multiple alleles always act additionally towards one another [4,14]. this is what i was talking about kaz about them being full body grey wings so ..but i still dont understand it thats what i was trying to say you got but im still probbly wrong lol oh reene you helped me lol i thought clear wing was dom to dilute pt thanks for this link :thankyou: will come in handy
