lol, yea i think i will resist. i'm going to the shop i bought the rest of my birds from on Wednesday and I'll probably be getting wire and stuff to make my aviary on Thursday. I'm thinking of turning an old wardrobe into my aviary.. any ideas on how i would do that?.. Oh forgot to say, when we got him home he got out of the cage i'm borrowing off my mum. For some reason there is i little bit of wire missing and he is so tiny he got out through it. He went straight to the seed box lol poor lil guy must have been starving. He had water on the way home but i had no where to put seed..

Today, we got a baby budgie from the local market. It is so cute! It's in quarantine at the moment. Obviously i was going to fall in love with it the second i saw it.. :hap: and of course i'm gonna ask the newbie questions like, What gender is it? and colour? Technically it's my fiance's cos he's wanted a baby play with for ages, I'm just gonna be cleaning out the cage and making sure all is well.. just thinking though.. I look really tiny.. but maybe thats because i've never bought a budgie so young before.. The guy i bought it off said he was an aviary breeder and that he had heaps more to come.. should i buy them all?? lol

About 6 months ago.. when i got Laila.. When was the last time you.. saw someone from school?

That's what i've been thinking it is.. My nearest avian vet is atleast an hour away, but i'll be taking him there first thing on wednesday.

Laila It would be great if someone could tell me what colour/mutation.. whatever.. she is. Cloud LOVE this photo of my gorgeous boy. besides the mess behind him.. the mark above his cere, it's like there is a feather missing or something.. the mass on Cloud's wing. (Thats not blood around it, it's betadine. My fiance did it..) Rocky My cute little boy, he is so pretty and he has the best personality. he's just kind of hypo all the time..

lol, so cute. I've been looking for a bird similar, can't find one anywhere though.. hopefully i'll have some luck with the breeder i'm meeting in the next few days..

We've got mice too, lucky our cats are sort of psycho and kill anything they can catch. Lucky they haven't tried for my birds yet!..

YAY! gorgeous pair! congrats. on the egg! quick question for Kaz, I've got one of those water things, but i keep freaking and taking it out cos i can't tell if my bird is using it.. should i just leave it in there?.. I'll know if my birds not drinking right?

Thanks, but the link for the australian one didn't work. So it was absolutelly no use.. I'll get my mum to have a talk with that receptionist tomorrow, she's going in there to get her cat desexed. I just got the best news ever!! fiance agreed to let me get or build and aviary!!! YAY! and mum was saying that there is a breeder in the town over from her, so i'll definately be having a chat with him. 10 budgies for $80.. is that a good deal? I think she said $15 each, so thats heaps cheaper then the pet shops around here, where they are $25 - $35 each.. Anyway, back on topic! :rofl: I'll start ringing all the vets in my area in the morning. Although I think i may have found an avian vet.. but he is atleast an hour away.. :rofl:

They are so cute!! I don't think I'm ever going to have babie's Laila seems to think she's a boy..

So, I rang the vet. And asked where I would find the nearest avian vet, to which I got " I dunno, ask at a pet shop or something." apparently the receptionist was haveing a bad day.. I have no idea where to take him. He doesn't seem any worse and it's not getting any bigger or anything but I'm still worried. While i was out yesterday my fiance did the (maybe) stupid thing of stabbing it with a pin and putting betadine on it.. He said a clear liquid came out of it.. I hope my poor little baby doesn't get worse now. His poo is still a sort of dark green and runny.. does that mean he's sick? I moved him into his own cage today, so i can keep a better eye on him, and because when i got him he was really friendly. (he still is at times..) he's just grunpy at even me at the moment because of what my fiance did to him. I'm hopeing he'll become friendly again because i really miss being able to play with him. (soccer of all things.. with one of those cat balls with a ball in it.. so cute ) Also, Laila has started her first moult (that i'm aware of) and she has been chewing her feathers on her wings. Only the ones on the.. outside, i'd guess you'd call it. should i pull out the ones that are bleeding or just leave them? she's been leaving blood everywhere, even on Rocky, the boy i've got in with her.

it's sort of a frog like sound more then anything.. i should be able to get it on film, i'll try to get in the next few days. I found quite a lump on the top of his wing yesterday, fiance said it is really hard.. i'm trying to get him to the vet to get it checked out. but all of them in my area seem to be closed until the new year.. i noticed a few weeks ago that his poo was green and runny.. but kept forgetting about. (not happy with myself about that!)

My oldest boy, Cloud, has been making a weird croaking sound. I first noticed it when i moved to my new fiance's house, whenever he goes near him he does it and we've been here a month or so now.. i'm the only person he actually lets touch him.. so i thought it was a jealousy thing at first.. Last week, i moved the third bird (also male) into a seperate cage (trying to teach my man how to be responsible.. Rocky is his now ) now he's started doing it to the Laila, the girl i've got in with him.. Can someone explain to me why he does it? Also Laila is the loudest hen i've ever heard.. when ever the boy start talking she joins in and drowns them out.. and she "talks" to me all the time, more then both the boys do.. after quarantine i had her in a cage with mum's two girls (one of which died yesterday. christmas day. very sad. :() but they were bullying her so i took her out after a few weeks. Could it be that she thinks she's a boy cos she's been with Colud and Rocky so long?

i was going to read this yesterday but got distracted.. i found a lump on my boy today. it's on his wing, up near his head.. i nearly had a heart attack when i saw it. i'm gonna ring the vet first thing in the morning (they are shut today) and try to get him in as soon as possible. my boyfriend said it is hard, i'm gonna get him to have another look at it when he's not busy..

The last week or so I've noticed Sampson doing some really weird things.. He was talking to himself for a good three hours this morning.. He's in a cage with two other budgies until i get my aviary next week (YAY!) and the three of them get along great when he's not being weird.. I've also seen him run along the side of his cage for ages.. so i open the cage door to let him out and he just keeps doing it.. and if i take him out he sits at the door and doesn't do anything...

Good idea, i'm going to the shops tomorrow so i'll heaps

Two of my budgie's sleep hanging on the wire of their cages.. i noticed last night that Sam was in the corner and he had one "foot" on one side of the cage and the other on the opposite side.. i think that might be so he stays there.. Do other budgies do that? Also, two of my younger ones are very destructive.. what can i do about it? my little guy chewed through a branch i had in his cage.. and the girl chews on everything..
