  1. Will do. thanks KAZ
  2. i just got home from holidays about 1 hour ago. I fed all the birds. and in my sky opaline and lutino nest both green opalines have fledged. now one is definitely been fed, because i watched dad feed him. but the other one keeps getting attacked by mum(attacked is not a very good word to use but she is kind of fluttering above him and pushes him out of the seed bowl). dad hasnt fed him im sure, he doesnt look as good as the other chick either. what can i do? do i take mum and will dad feed them? suggestions needed please, because if i need a crop needle and formula i need to get down to the produce by soon as it closes 6pm. ps sorry if this has been discussed, im sure it has, but my internet is really slow and wouldnt search properly thanks in advance

" Ummm I just ain't that into Chicks" lol i have a grey nomal cock bird that does the exact same thing, also my 08 hens in a holding cage are a little similar. dom pied green hen and yf cobalt hen mated with each other all the time
  4. I love how your DF hen sits off the perch

The lutino i bred from a light green normal cock x cinnamon cobalt hen, also has no iris ring. well that i can see anyway?(hard to see as she has two green opaline chicks in nestbox and always hides in there when she sees me)

It gets cold, but with the door closed and the windows closed at night it is surprising that it is a good 5- 10 degrees warmer than outside. All I can say is that the birds are breeding and chicks are being born (hatched) so it is working. we have had frost and its been down to 1.7 outside but all is well. Well i suppose that is the main thing that they are still breeding. Will you at some stage insulate to make everything a little more comfortable?

That looks great Liv and 007, how cold is it getting in the birdroom? is it maintaining a pretty decent temp? as you know im trying to do the same thing, this is fantastic, only thing id have different is half the shed would be flight and the other half my ply cabinets. That looks fantastic!! Also i agree with you maesie. that would really annoy me.

They all look really nice. i like the one on the bottom, im always breeding little yf's like that. they are awesome:)
  12. No offence to anybody, but i have taken Kaz' advice and no budgie chick will ever consume any breeding aid. I also consulted a friend who is and intermediate to open breeder and is very knowledgeble also, says otherwise. But in saying that it is fine to feed to mature birds. Another question. On preparing the mix. I made mine up in a chinese container (clear plastic container) and left the lid on for 24 hours. should this of been done or it doesnt matter or how do you do it.
  13. Come again shannon, i dont know about anybody else, but i cant make much out of that post, sorry mate..
  14. Okay, thanks Kaz. only reason i ask is i was thinking about feeding it to some ready to breed pairs, and another pair that have chicks, but dad is still feeeding and mum has started to lay again. Also when you mix it up(sorry about the repition) do you store it in an airtight conatianer? or allow air to reach it or what?
  15. thought so, but it should be right use right? and what sort of container, does it need to be airtight
  16. Cheers mateAlso when it is mixed up, what kind of container do you mix it in? does it need to be airtight.
  17. hey all i just mixed up a small batch of breeding aid and was wondering if it is okay to give it to my budgies that are feeding chicks? are there any nutritional values in it for the chicks. its only really for ready to lay, and raise chicks isn't it. just got the stuuf the other day and mixed 250g to 5mL yesterday. just want to know if its all right for any budgies with the chicks. cheers in advance

  19. Agreed. It will be great Dave!
  20. im just getting an idea of setups and stuff, im in the planning stages of my room on my thread, titled breeeding room/flight area or something. just wondering where you have kept them all this time. a photo sounds good.
  21. Dave, where do you currently have your breeding cages stashed? are they in a room or something or outside under cover?
  22. Siblings from the first clutch Love these last two! Also those two spangles look brilliant, they are superb. and might i say what a great bunch of chicks, they are looking really good Kaz. well done. and what a promising kindie cage.
  23. Dont they mattdog. they are very unique specimens, i dont know which i like better the green or blue series. The last show i went to there were the nices tcb blue series, but after seeing all the green series as well, they are all awesome. also trish in your first post, looks like DF spangle hen, her beak? is that a protruding beak??

a couple of months ago when i paired my skyblue hen and green normal cock, they were only just placed in the breeding cage, and i hadnt put their box in yet, and a couple of days passed and i thought the same thing about her as you did Kaz!! but i thought it was strange because she was in great breeding condition two days prior. its amazing what lengths they go too. Beautiful looking spangle, and im not a big fan of pieds(only dom pied), and your domn pied is absolutely beautiful. ive been after a good dom pied like that for ages. very nice Kaz
  25. How does the ply get mounted, would need some sort of pine framing?
