My daughter chose to have a parakeet themed birthday party. She's turning 6th on Saturday. She wants to have pin the tail on the parakeet. Cute idea huh? Can anyone think of any other budgie games? Or party favor ideas? I'm trying to get a parrot pinata with the ribbon pull kit so no bats in the house. It's winter here. Thanks for thinking on this.
  3. I'm sorry too. I know he had a great life and with his condition it was much longer than average. You did a phenomenal job.
  4. Wow, what an interesting thread this is. I just read all 12 pages. It was informative, sad and uplifting all at once. I'm so glad that Cirrus continues to thrive. He's amazing to see. I'm sorry he lost his pal shaggy and brother quill. But I was impressed with love and respect you gave them all. I'd love to see more pictures too. I'd love to hear him sing in his soft voice. Summer
  5. One of my parakeets has chronic loose stool. Her vent is always clean and she behaves normally. But in the morning her poo pile is kind of a loose mass and there is a wet ring around the poo pile. You can see formed poo it's just loose. This has been going on for months. Today I saw another loose poo pile. I'm wondering if she might have a parasite or something that is spreading. If I was flush I'd just take them in but I'm really really short on cash now. And they are acting fine. I do think that the first hen's loose poo also started when she went into breeding condition. I'm not sure though. My second hen is now going into breeding condition. Can that cause loose poo? Finally, are there any safe home treatments I can try on them? Thanks for reading. Summer
  6. I don't know either but he/she is quite adorable!
  7. I'm guessing the light and dark splotches are normal pied pigment variations that you see on his cere. But I've noticed a yellowish tinge around the nostrils. Is that normal? He seems healthy and happy. He's my little sweetheart, Dave.

Here's my daughter's first cartoon with my help.
  9. My daughter and loved looking at these. Here was her photo response to them...
  10. So cute! Those babies are just precious! I'd love to see them sleep cuddling without the bars too. Summer
  11. I love the new pictures! They look like they have a blast playing with their toys! I haven't been able to get any good new pictures of my guys. They stare at my camera like I'm a crazy woman. Summer
  12. Wow, thanks guys! I can't believe I won. Though really it was Shelfie and Dave who won, those crazy keets! I haven't seen them play like this is months. Maybe next spring they'll get silly again. But Shelfie seems to have fallen for Mr. Blue (aka Baby Blue). I'll have to catch up with how you guys are all doing. Summer
  13. I love the new photos. Georgeous!
  14. He is adorable! What a handsome guy!
  15. That's too funny! What a little character! I'm still trying to teach mine the "wolf whistle".
  16. He does look adorable. What a fright! I'm glad he's okay. He's such a handsome guy. Summer
  17. Thanks for the tip! I won't but it back in. What about hanging plastic chin? With very small link? Or what about a plain cloth ribbon? Do you think they could hang themselves on that? I have a couple of these and they love to climb on them. The ribbon is about an inch wide.
  18. Try this link It's the activitoys preening rope. Maybe the toy was a little crooked leaving a gap between the wire and the mount? I'm leaning toward freak accident. Dave is fine this morning. It's got me nervous though because we are going out of town in a couple weeks. We have a pet sitter coming once a day. But what if something happens while I'm gone? Summer
  19. Poor Dave got his foot stuck...really stuck...to the point of flapping around and screeching...underneath the plastic back of the toy. It screws to the outside. This toy Anyone else had this happen? I have a bunch of toys with the same type of mount system. I'm wondering if they are safe in general. Any thoughts? I hope he's okay. It was really sore when I got him free. But he did start putting weight on it again. Dave is the most fragile of my birds. I worry for my little guy. Toy mounts like these
  20. Um, and how does your cat being destructive have anything to do with me asking how long my BIRD will be in her breeding condition for? Shelfie has been in breeding condition for several months. She's moulting now too and is suuuuuuuupppppppper grumpy.

What a wonderful setup! The fresh branches look wonderful. Do you worry about introducing a parasite or fungus or something? Is it safe because it's eucalyptus? Your pictures are just amazing!
  22. Those are wonderful pictures. My daughter and I enjoyed looking at them all. I particularly like the last one where they are all flying. Summer
  23. Thanks guys! When I got this shot I thought it was my best chance for winning but there have been so many great shots lately I was thinking it wouldn't win. This is my total character budgie Shelfie and her partner Dave. I got her almost a year ago because she rolled over and looked up at us. She loves to play with toys and lie on her back. Dave comes over and "kisses" her. Then he'll lock beaks and pull her across the cage. She seems to enjoy it. It's the funniest thing to watch. One day I'll get video! The day I got this picture they were having so much fun they completely ignored me!
  24. I've never seen crested before they look so funny! I hope you post pictures if they breed successfully. I'd love to see their spikey babies. Summer
