What Kind Of Budgie Would Go Nicely With Cosmo? (as A Friend)
I was going to say close to the same. Pretty is also a cobalt turned green due to her YF2. She looks most striking next to Dave. Dave also happens to be a funny and sweet guy. She also goes nicely with BB who is still blue. Oh heck with looks good with Shelfie too. But I think the the "clear" wing is a nice contrast to the stripy "normal" wings. I hope I make sense. Summer

One Eye Isn't Changing
What is the double factor? No markings on his wings. There's blue patch between his wings. He's a funny bird. When he's hungry he flies in the kitchen. One time he landed in my lasagna I was making. He also likes his alone time away from the flock unlike the others.DaveHere's his back.Sorry for the weird postings. I keep losing my connection. Here's his back.

One Eye Isn't Changing
- Photo Update Of Cosmo
Cosmo is such a handsome fella! I always love seeing his pictures. The same thing has happened to Pretty. See her in my sig? I wonder if it will happen to Baby-Blue?- One Eye Isn't Changing
So it will always be dark? Is it all pupil? Can he see okay? He's the sweetest bird.- One Eye Isn't Changing
Anyone had a bird like this? It's Dave. He's pied moslty white. He's probably about 10 months old.- Clearing Throat?
I've noticed that she will do this two or three times in a row some days. Others she doesn't it all at all. She stretches her neck out looks like she's trying to clear her throat. She's eating great, acting normal otherwise and has normal poop. Any ideas what this means? Thanks, Summer- Boy?
Oh I like that! Good idea! Summer- Boy?
Hi, We are going with Baby Blue. He's doing well. He's moved from terrified frozen to timidly checking things out. He is in a separate room all the way upstairs. Thanks for the input. Summer- Our Budgies...
I LOVE how Dizzy has the little cheeky coloring as white! It's so cute against the yellow. Is there a name for that part of the coloration specifically? And Lola is just drop dead gorgeous! Summer- Boy?
I adopted a rescued parakeet for my final member to my flock. I think he's a boy. The indoor avairy he came from was amazing. Beautiful healthy happy birds. When I brought him home left in the cage across the room so he could see other birds were here. While I was putting away groceries I heard a squawk. Shelfie flew over and attacked him through the cage. You can see the the cuts on his cere. I feel terrible. I got him out of there right away. If you have any name ideas let me know. Excuse the poop stuck to his chest, he had a rough day. Thanks, Summer.- Jealous Triangle?
I was hoping things would smooth over when I got the bigger can. What happened is Pretty has started chasing Shelfie. Whenever Dave and Shelfie are flirting with some simultaneous head-bobbing Pretty charges Shelfie. Thing Shelfie goes back to Pretty and starts head-bobbing Pretty. Pretty charges and they exchange clashes of the beak. It's like low key no one is getting hurt. I think they both really like Dave. I don't know really. Do you guys no what's going on? Would a second male help smooth things over or just complicate matters further? Best guess? Is this common hen behavior? Thanks, Summer- Help!
That's how Pretty looked shortly after I got her. She got so bad she was just sitting on the floor with her head hanging down. It happened in a matter of like 2 hours. She made no protest when I picked her up. She collasped in my hand. I really thought she was dying. I cried buckets while my husband phoned for vets. Amazingly after a half hour she "woke up" so I put her back in her cage. The towel, lamp, and lots of millet seemed to help. She went on meds after that. She finally seems 100%. So to digress. I hope your little guy gets better. Summer- Mean Shelfie
Actually they were all in the cage. The cage door was open and Pretty was thinking about going outside and moved to the door opening and hung upside down looking out. Dave moved the feedcup on the open door. Then Shelfie moved over and started pecking Pretty's feet. But they were both inside the cage. Pretty let go to get away but Shelfie grabbed her foot so Pretty was hanging upside down from one foot caught in Shelfie's beak. Poor Pretty was screaming for help. Then Shelfie dropped her and she fell to the cage floor. Make sense? Summer- The "angry Noise"
Syd sounds like what happened to Shelfie. She and Dave were instantly BFF's then after about three months she got really cranky. When she molts she's definitely much worse. She's been bad lately but thinking about it I think it might be the food change. I've been trying to wean her on pellets and she hates them and tosses them all out of the food-cup onto the floor. I think I might just give up for now. The funny thing is she's most frisky and sassy when she's being a pill. When she's nervous or scared she's docile as a clam. Maybe a bigger cage might help your birds? I don't know what size you have. I've got a bigger one ordered for mine. Good-luck!- My New Bird Hangs Up-side-down....a Lot.
So cute! She does look a little bat like. Dave and Pretty do this some but Dave usually gets really frisky and likes to hang by one let then somersault onto a perch- Mean Shelfie
Pretty was hanging upside down from the cage door opening and Shelfie hopped over and started pecking at her. Pretty tried to pull herself up to get away but Mean Shelfie bit her foot. Poor Pretty was actually hanging from Shelfie's beak. It was only for a second then Shelfie dropped her. I didn't see any blood but Pretty was obviously favoring it. Shelfie is just so mean. She wants to be around the other birds but she's constantly scolding them. I was feeding Dave and Pretty millet across the room. They don't peck at each at all. They were nicely sharing a millet sprig while sitting on my hand. Shelfie flies over and joins them. After a minute of eating, even though she had over 1/2 of the millet sprig to herself she started in on Pretty. Pretty and Dave flew away. Shelfie, the twit that she is won't stay across the room by herself. She has to be with 1 or 2 of her friends. They are all like that actually. I just don't get her. She still grooms Dave and even tried to feed Pretty sometimes. Pretty seems to say get away from me you psycho. Even with me, every-time she steps up quite voluntarily (no physical contact initiated on my part) she hops up and nips me hard. She will sometimes gently nibble my face but sometimes she bites really hard. She came over and watched me for a while. She came up nibbled my nose for a quick second and then bit my eyelid really hard! I don't let her get near my face. She's the most curious of them but just mean. She hasn't been plucking Dave anymore though. I'm afraid she might have to be separated if she doesn't mellow out. And she's not molting now. And she's getting 12-14 hours covered time. Any thoughts.- Cage Suggestions For The Low Budget?
Yes that's it. I'm glad to hear it. What about epoxy coating? The bar spacing is 1/2 inch so that is good. Thanks- Cage Suggestions For The Low Budget?
I'm totally stressing on this. When I bought my cage 6 months ago it was for 1 bird. It was small but doable 18x11x20. Then came Dave with a tiny quarantine cage and I blew that. And now Pretty has moved in with them. It's way way way too small. They spend the majority of the day out of the their cage but even so. Problem is totally broke. I've got a $40 budget. I'm in the US so I'm been looking on ebay. The best I can see is $39 for a breeder cage 30x18x18. Will this be big enough? I could always add a 2nd the top later like one enterprising person here who gave me the idea (sorry I forgot who). I've been looking on craigslist and for sales for about 2 months. Ugh. Are the epoxy coatings safe. You see tons on them on ebay. I had no idea when I began. Poor Dave doesn't want to go in at night and I can't blame him. Thanks for reading.- Eating Newspaper?!
I didn't realize about color and glossy paper. Good to know! Thanks!- Eating Newspaper?!
Could this make them sick? They are relentless about. I put it over the mantle that is a hop above they cage. I'm starting to worry about their health. Thanks for reading- Mature Cere
Here's a picture of her when I got her 6 months ago. She was in a heavy molt then. She's molted a second time since then. Really you can see some of her iris it's just the lighting of picture. How do you do that? I've somehow missed where that folder is?- Mature Cere
I don't plan on breeding her now. I think she's between 9 months and a year old. I got her in June and I her baby bars weren't all the way to her cere. I think she was 4 or 5 months then. Her cere remained very light and smooth until the past couple of weeks. I've never had a girl before so I just wanted to verify this is what happens. It's hard to imagine she will get darker and crustier. But I do understand the distinction that a hen might be physically able to breed but not be ready.I think her mate Dave is about 6 months old now. When he's a year (or should it be longer?) I'd like to try to breed them. So 6 months from now (husband willing) I might be asking for advice on that then.Poor Dave hasn't been getting enough sleep and has started chatting up any shiny thing that catches his eye. I've got to increase his covered time. As long as there is no nest they won't breed right? Or should they be separated? Thanks,Summer Ah, yes exactly!- Mature Cere
