  2. Sad, so sad Perhaps they should try some anger management sooner rather than later? it was Hans Classic tongue in cheek then! I hardly think it is possible he wrecked his monitor :fear

  4. Well pebblz if they were still perching it means they were coping pretty well indeed! When it gets really hot for them they go to ground and sit there panting ... the danger sign is if they lie prostrate on the floor with their wings out IF you see this it is EMERGENCY time. Sometimes they can pick themselves up with no extra bother when it cools down BUT you need to be aware that the prostrate look is NOT a good one and if I see it I intervene pretty darn smartly. Fresh from the Perth Weather website: Perth is experiencing the warmest summer on record with a average maximum temperature of 31.6C so far - on par with the summers of 1931 - 1932 and 1977 - 1978. Perth's average summer maximum temperature is normally 30.2C.
  5. Yep, just checked the thermometer under the vaerandah ... 42C here as well .... Auuuuugh! Well the temperature has peaked for the day, currently sitting on 40C and the Freo Doctor has arrived (local sea breeze) The adults are still pretty quiet but the young uns have perked up and are very chatty. Here's some photos comparing how they were faring- Adults (almost all on the floor): Young Uns (getting up and looking chirpy):
  6. Good news ~ Yeah!
  7. You can use the teabag itself Renee. How many times you must guage by checking her...maybe twice....your choice. i bath twice if just red looking and if inflamed three times per day for two to three days then twice for week or intill normal but keep seperate for longer Kaz and GB. Here's a close up of Lou Lou's eye: (maybe a bit blurry, she was not the most co-operative of models)
  8. Well I bathed Lou Lou's eye twice in salty water and then today so far twice more using a soft facial wipe dipped in tea. It is looking heaps better! :hap: How often should I bathe her eye per day? :sadsorry:

  10. Well thank you for that explanation Nubbly :sadsorry:
  11. Renee - Triple C is NOT a sulfur based med it is an ANTIBIOTIC. Really! Well you learn something new every day :hap: In any case it is good for fixing pooey bums.
  12. No discharge thankfully. :sadsorry: Just very red from rubbing.
  13. Well it is 10am and the mercury is on the rise ... currently 31C in the shade. :sadsorry: Drinkers are done, fresh seed supplied and sprinkler will be going on as it approaches 35C. No fatalities yesterday :hap: Yes, they went to ground and looked more like drowned rats than show budgies but when the temperature dropped a bit they were all back on the perches and chirping away.
  14. Interesting you should say that, I had hoped the Baytril would clear up any infection but it did diddly-squat so Lou Lou and Luvie have been on probiotics since Friday. :hap: I think I may keep them on the probos for today (it is so hot) and once the ionic silver arrives give her that and perhaps give her a quick course of doxy. :sadsorry: Really I am playing it by ear for the moment. :hap:
  15. I am not sure whether there are any hard and fast rules as to how many clutches they have - be it 1, 2 or even 3. It comes down to breeding conditions in your breeding room and the breeding condition of your birds.
  16. Good tip! I think I'll try that one now as I have bathed her eye in salty water BUT it wasn't boiled ...
  17. well its been nothing but wind and rain today and yesterday half hot then frezzing again and rain at night my goodness i will be lucky if anything lives at this rate im beginning to think they all have come down with a common cold due to weather changes over few weeks and lack of amunity due to long time corse of doxcy i probo for three days but really they need more than pro bo for a cold i just dont know what my hens with the chicks in nest the cock birds are catching flu and im worryed their also know i through a blanket over cabinets so night chill stays off and day time wind so sorry about you birds rip it sucks hay : Crazy weather as always - cool over with you and boiling here
  18. Yes. We can only hope that we get a peak and then it cools off for a bit before peaking again .... if we get a run of scorchers one after the other it really gets difficult.
  19. Jeeze RIP, that's no good, sorry to hear about your losses ... and unfortunately tomorrow is forecast to hit 39C
  20. Current temperature in the shade 41.9C at 16.30 ... and that is here, near the coast .... can't imagine what it is like more inland near you Kaz Well it is official : today was the hottest January day in Perth since 1991.

  22. okay, that is good to know Lucky you My doctor is a reliable source of bad advice and hardly what I would described as helpful - I see as little of as possible.
  23. Yes, it really is a scorcher today. We are taking refuge inside the air conditioned house but the birds are stuck outside ... it is on days like these that I picture a state of the art facility with air con for my little darlings Ice cubes in drinkers, sprinkler system on .... now we have to wait and see. I can hear the young uns carrying on so at least that is a good sign.
  24. Yes they do .... but you need a prescription How will salt water affect the really red part of the outside of the eye? Won't it just annoy her more?

Yes, these days I lock up. I began that habit the moment the new flights were finished.
