Advice! Hurt Budgie
I know your rat is a pet and so it's pretty clean but it's still a massive risk to your bird. Your hens going to be stressed as a result and breeding/feeding is only going to exacerbate the situation. I'd get her to the vet and hold off breeding for a bit.

Blast From The Past - Don't Kiss Your Budgie!
okay. So this one was just asking to be revived... Seriously people Don't kiss your budgie, your saliva is toxic... and no one likes a sloppy kisser. Here is the original topic for you all to enjoy: http://forums.budgiebreeders.asn.au/index.php?showtopic=4432

Like with most animals they all come with seemingly different personalities, some are nice, some are not...

Who Are You?!
That's alright birdluv we forgive you Actually I haven't been back here in a while but figured the old place needed some life breathed back into it. I was getting sad when I'd come past and click 'View New Content' and find out that no one had posted. I messaged Dave Bateman the other day about starting up a Facebook page for the forum and he said he'd talk to the other Admin team and get back to me... I looked at the Admins and poor KAZ is the only one that gets on. maesie was last online on the 27th June 2013 and **Liv** hasn't been on since 22nd August 2011, from memory Liv got off to focus on her Cockatiel forum. Dunno what happened to maesie, I wasn't around much then.

Is the bird in the background of picture 2 bird 3? Can you take a photo of the back of the birds too please need to see wing markings but: 1. YF (I always get the mutations wrong so have given up trying to figure it out) sky blue Rec Pied Cock. 2.YF albino (sometimes called Creaminos) I'm gonna say hen. 3. YF Cobalt Normal Cock.

Eagle Eyed Noah
That is called an "Iris ring" Some varieties have them, others don't. I don't remember seeing you post pictures up, but my brains a little frazzled today so I may well have seen them. What varieties/mutation are your birds Erdoganog?

40Th Anbc Nationals
Yeah it would be nice to get over there... interestingly enough, I'm pretty sure South Australia is the only place you are allowed to catch wild Budgerigar I know it's definitely the only place you don't need a licence. Maybe a few of them will head north from adelaide and get a few outcrosses LOL!! I guess we'll have to call THEM "Australian Budgies..." LOL!!! Although if the wild flock are still going around Florida then maybe they are american budgies still... It's so hard to figure out...

Blast From The Past - What's Your Favourite Type Of Budgie?
She comes on still just doesn't post. I've gotta say I was looking at the moderators and Administrators profiles today. Poor Kaz was the only one that had come on here for the last few days... I like how I made the poll public so we can see people like Budgie_Mad who voted for American. LOL.

Blast From The Past - What's Your Favourite Type Of Budgie?
So, one great thing about this forum is that it has been around for donkeys years and there are heaps of old topics that are really helpful. There are others that are really funny, and others that just never went anywhere... What I'm going to attempt to do with this is post links to some topics from the past that I think should be revived and given a second breath of life. P.S. some are so old that the members names are listed as 'Guest' and some of the pictures may have been deleted. To start us off here is a link to a thread that talks about American and English type budgies - as you can see from the very beginning of time this has been a topic that has confused or annoyed many people: http://forums.budgie...hl=budgie&st=20 So what's your favourite type of budgie? As you can see I added another option...

Loss Of Beak, Will She Survive?
I have absolutely no expertise in this at all. My gut says it won't grow back but I have no clue. How did the beak break in the first instance? Here is a past topic from the forum... http://forums.budgiebreeders.asn.au/index.php?showtopic=1927 and this is what I found off Google. http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20100327172114AAGY10V

Have a read of this thread it should help and there are some pictures of the inside of the nest box. I'm sure there are other threads on it as well if you go to our breeding section but this one was linked into our FAQ section. Daz had set up cabinets because he was a show breeder so it was on a much larger scale than what you're planning but you should get a good understanding of what the nest box should look like and where the perch should go. I would let the parents raise them if they can. Each bird is different some are good first time mums others at terrible...

Should I Breed Budgies?
Here is something from our FAQ section. http://forums.budgiebreeders.asn.au/faqs/index.php?action=artikel&cat=8&id=173&artlang=en Have a read and that will give you a better idea of if you really want to breed. Whether you should breed or not is entirely up to you. Let's face it, you're on a forum called "Budgerigar Breeders Club" we are going to be slightly biased in our opinion LOL.

Nasty Budgie
Yeah, I'd always go for cabinet breeding if you have that option for this exact reason. I'd still keep an eye on her though because once she's had her first chicks and they've grown a little she might want to kick those chicks out to have a new clutch. I know on here there are people who say that if you are going to colony breed that you should have twice as many nest boxes as you have hens all at the same height. I've never done it so can't give an opinion if it works or not. Just another idea.

New To The Forum, Future Breeder
Welcome to the forum, hope you find it an enjoyable place to come and chat budgies. There are a ton of articles in the FAQ section regarding breeding and even more old posts. The cage will be fine, like Nadene said, be careful with string and ropes. When you decided you were ready to breed I would take the other male out and then make the perches go from the front and back, it might be difficult with the cage opening up the way it does though. The look very cute. We won't crack the sads that you call them parakeets, plenty of people in the US do. The issue gets confusing when you are on a website that isn't Budgie specific as "Parakeet" can mean a number of different species. Enjoy your time here and feel free to post as many pictures as you want. We all like them... They are also mandatory for any breeding journal you start on the forum
