Breeding Update!
If Elly knows anything it is genetics... I understand why you are confused bird_paradise, benetics is a killer. But I guess thats the great thing about breeding, you never know whats in them 100% until you've bred with them a few times. gotta love suprises!

My Baby Budgie's Are Dying Help
are there any feathers missing? Do they look like they have been in fights? Have you taken any to the avian vet after they die for an Autopsy? My first thought was other hens.. wanting to use that nest box...

Opinions Please
once they have raised a clutch and the chicks have fully fledged its fine to put them all back in the main avairy... Some people have a juvanile avairy but not everyone can have that space. As for whether the hen and cock stay partnered in there, thats up to them :ohmygod:

Do I Enter These Birds?
How was the experience? Sorry I didn't get to make it, got home at 2 am last night from Seaford Footy Club Best and Fairest (who knows why they waited a month after the season finished to do it but oh well) forgot to set up my alarm so needless to say I didn't wake up in time. Hope that you had a great time! Hope this is the start of a big bright future for you in the Fancy.

Breeding Cute Lil Baby Budgies ... What Could Go Wrong!
I agree with MB, possibly one of the greatest learning experiences would be to find a local breeder and go to their house (with a parent) and see what is involved. Make sure you ask them lots of questions and get all the information you can. We can tell you answers but without pictures, diagrams or a pair in front of us it makes it a lot harder to comprehend some things. I know with me I read and read and read even before buying a budgie, and some of the stuff I read on here I just went, "okay sure, I have no idea what that means but thats what your saying so great." I made sure I had the basics down and then I went out and got a pair. I brought them and only then did all the pieces fit into place. You won't start breeding when you are an expert, its impossible to be an expert without any practical application... it isn't a matter of being worthy, its just a matter of being ready. I think your biggest challenge is going to be convincing your friend that you should have her bird for at least 2 months... by the time you do that I suspect you might of been able to convince your parents that you need a male of your own Good luck with it all. And don't be a stranger. hang around even though you're not breeding yet, you'll learn a great deal of information just by going through old threads... Good luck again and happy reading
