Violet And Dilute Violet Spangles
It doesnt matter what you look for as soon as you get there you will fall in love with them all and want to bring them all home! Violet spangles are so pretty i have had a few they are such a pretty pale violet almost a lilac. Where abouts is this breeder? i might go and check them out oo. Also with them being in the flight aviary they will be "wilder" than cabinet bred babies but they adjust very quickly i think it depends on the temperament of the bird. You can come across some stubborn little buggers!Goodluck with it i cant wait to see pictures!

Turbosole For Canker
Oh that sucks mb! What were her symptoms?

Leg Band
If you look at the photo of him when you brought him home from the shops you can see the lines that go across his head and down his back when they are babies they have them all the way to the front so when you brought him he would have been around 6 weeks old. How long have you had him for? He will be fine to leave him to carry on looking after the baby for now. If they begin to lay before he finishes feeding the older baby then you can consider fostering the eggs out to another couple and give him a break. If you dont have any other pair to foster too you can let him raise them it will not harm him as long as you give him vitamins and all the right foods he should be fine. I have had young males raise babies (9 months+) and they have been great dads so make up your own mind whether you think he is coping with it.

Meet Lucky

Trip To Vet
To the breeders credit there wasn't any noticeable signs that the bird had anything wrong with it, it only started showing signs of illness a few days after neat got him. With the offer of him taking the bird back he has a aviary that he keeps his birds in that are for "non breeding " so i know the bird will get a good life where ever he goes. I trust the breeder he seems to be genuine and i am sure neat will buy from him again too.

Canker?
My Beautiful beautiful research mate neat may have just figured out whats going on. Thank god that it is not canker we think it is just a bacterial infection so i am giving them some antibiotics and see how they go. I will still take them to the vet just to double check but fingers crossed i dont lose any more bubies....

Canker?
I have recently posted about my budgie babies dying. They stopped and then this morning a perfectly healthy baby yesterday was now dead. I Cant get into the vet i would like until saturday. I have been told that it sounds like canker.I would like another opinion as i have read about it and they do not seem to have the symptoms? So please feel free to share what you think. I have lost babies ranging from 5 days to two weeks old they are fine one minute and dead the next. None of the parents seem ill although today i noticed one of the parents who is feeding had a small amount of yellow under her beak i am undecided wether it is from her feeding or a symptom of canker? Is there any signs that i should watch for in the babies?

Someone Talk Me Out Of It Please!
Ha ha! That picture cracks me up- Av dont worry its not real, there is a lot more tissue and skin and stuff in the way for the foot to be so defined, you just get a big lump in the side which looks like an alien is trying to escape! I am also planning to have another bubs. I am a little bit apprehensive but excited at the same time. I have a 7 year old girl and a 3 year old boy but for some reason that i cant explain i want one more? I love being pregnant(apart from getting fat!) I had two perfect pregnancies and now i think oh but what if i jinx myself and have a horrible 3rd pregnancy or their is something wrong with the baby? But these are the chances that we take and most of the time it all works out in the end. We are planning to start "trying" in 1 month-2 months so it will be a august/September baby if all goes to plan.Good luck with it. But on a serious note does anyone know if there are any bad illnesses that can be caught from the birds while being pregnant? Do i have to give all of the feeding and cleaning jobs to my hubby?

I Need To Help My Little Babies
I think there is something else going on in the cabinets as the babies are dieing with a FULL crop and its also not from only one nest even some of my best breeders babies have died.Babies from three different nests have died so there is something going on.Their are no mice in the aviary. My conclusion is i am going to bench all of my birds no more breeding for me.They were happier when they were colony breeding and flying around i didnt have any problems back then. I may consider reintroducing the cages at a later date but for now i am done.

I Need To Help My Little Babies
What colour were the babies? pasty white? No they seemed to go a darker colour and go all dry and flaky like they were dehidrated or something? I clean their water daily so it couldnt be from that?

I Need To Help My Little Babies
I had a clutch of 5 babies that were healthy chirping and crawling around. I now have 1 left al of the others died at around 1 week old and the youngest doesnt look very healthy either. I have been told that they have salmonella poisoning. The parents last clutch turned out perfectly 6 out of 6 hatched healthy. So my question is has anyone heard of this before and if so how do i get rid of the bacteria causing it? Is it in the nestbox and how is it past on? What if any of my other nest boxes catch it aswell? Please help i dont know what to do.Thanks

I Did It
I finally did it! I am a miracle worker!!! I have heard a few people say that when you find a "dead" chick dont discard it, Because you can bring them back to life. I thought-Oh yeah sure how does that work and have failed a few times. Well this morning i went to the cabinet to find a lonely cold "dead" chick when i looked at it it was not shrivelled like they usually are but was freezing and limp. I started to breath warm air on it and then put it back in the huddle with its brothers and sisters to my amazement when i went back 15 minutes later it was pink and wriggling like normal. I am absolutely stoked that i finally recued one. So if it wasnt for this forum i would not have known that and i would have one dead chick on my hands so thanks again guys!
