Charlie Marlo's Bird
Thanks . I used natural wood/branches from my garden (gum tree, bottlebrush etc... Native plants). I also used UNTREATED Pine, rope and some toys I already had. You can use anything which is budgie safe and it's great fun too. I have also put some leaves from my native trees on there to and they love to eat them. Also, if you have a special place where you can offer him treats, this is where you can give him millet or his veggies etc...

Nice handy work and your birds look like they really love it too

Egg Bum picture
Me too!!! Then, once they're laid you have to wait for them to hatch, then to survive, then to feather up, then to figure out if they are male or female, then to fledge... SO MUCH WAITING! Good luck

I Don't Get My Bird
First thing first... if you want her to bond with you, remove the mirror. She sees this as another 'bird friend' and will bond with it before you! As to moving her cage around with you. Many members do this as this gets their birds used to being around them. You could continue to do this, or if she's still behaving a little 'off', you could try leaving her in the same spot for a week or so, and then go back to what you are used to. I'm sure she'll settle down and be back to her normal self in no time. Good luck and keep us updated

Charlie Marlo's Bird
Hey Marlo. I built this play gym last weekend for my newly breed babies. They are getting used to it and don't mind exploring it. I used things I had at home, so maybe you can do the same Yours wouldn't have to be that big, just something Charlie can be fed on and play on.

Big Bud's Trip To The Vet
I'm really glad it's not too serious. You mentioned your cage is tall and thin. Can you tip it on its side and make it wider and shorter? You may need to improvise with a try for the bottom, but it would help them exersize more. Just an idea

Taming Gucci And Dolce
I've decided to start a taming journal with Gucci and Dolce. For those unfamilar with them, here they are: Also, here is a photo of their cage (if you look closely in the left corner you can see four fluffy little bubs ) and the play gym I built for them. I didn't spend a cent on the play gym as I had everything at home: The other two babies went to their new homes last night. I felt a little sad, but know they will be loved and looked after. I also know I can check up on them whenever I want, so that makes me feel better. Okay... now to the taming. I have been able to get them both to 'step up' for a few weeks now, but as I go to take them out of the cage they usually get off. Over the past two day, both Gucci and Dolce have let me take them out of the cage on my finger. I'm so proud of them. They have been on the play gym a little, but are yet to come out on their own. Today when I got home from work, they both had some time out on the couch with me and the BBC. They did a lot of stepping up, walked along the couch a little and climbed over me. I had them out for a few minutes each. Gucci I returned to the play gym where he climbed up to his cage. Dolce on the other hand, decided he had had enough and flew back to the play gym, climbed up and joined Dolce back home. I feel it was a very successful first 'play' with me, and I only got pooed on once (that I know of ). Signing off... maesie, gucci and dolce xo xo xo

Bird Room/breeding Room?
Thanks Maesie. I love working with wood and i love building stuff too - it's relaxing, especially when it goes to plan Agree about things going to plan... if they don't everyone knows not to ask me how it's going as they know they'll cop an ear full... I get really angry  . I like the fact I can design, plan and bulid things myself and then be proud of what I have built.

Charlie Marlo's Bird
Does he like Millet Sprays? If so, you could have one of those pegged to your shoulder. He'll sit there and nibble it and hopefully stay. You will however get husks down your top but these can be simply cleaned up

Whats Going On?
I agree, that's why I don't help. I'm sorry for your losses and maybe there will never be an explanation. You could try breeding them again. Maybe it has nothing to do with the cock and hen?

Game: Go Fish
YES (and it's been so cold I've had to leave it on some nights) Do you like chairs?

So Guinea Pigs?
Congratulation Rah. They are sweet and those photos with your girls are sooooo cute. My nephew (3) has a thing with naming pets also. When my last clutch of budgies hatched, he wanted to call them baby love and baby care... then as they grew up he called them lovie and carie... needless to say I didn't go with his names

Whats Going On?
Out of my 9 eggs last clutch, I had two DIS. One was chirping in the morning and both had little holes (but from Mum pecking in NOT chick pecking out) This was her first clutch so I don't know if she was helping them before they were ready or not. I tend to leave them, and both of them didn't make it. I figure maybe they weren't meant to be... I do feel guilty at times and think if I had of helped them, maybe they would be alive today, but on the other hand, if they were meant to be alive, they would have made it out. I guess it depends on how you choose to look at it. In past clutches I've also have DIS bubs that were under developed. They had died earlier on in development. This I would think would be due to being left unattended (and getting cold) or any of the other reasons Libby said. Hugs from me xo maesie xo

Unseen Mice Around Aviary
What a surprise. You can usually smell them, especially when they pee everywhere. I hope you kill the last of them Jenene!
