All your birds are gorgeous Kaz!

My New Boy
Permission granted ! I'm glad you had a positive experience at the breeders. There's nothing worse when you pump yourself up to get a new bird, and then you get to where you were going to buy it from, and they're in poor condition etc... . I can't wait to see the results when you begin breeding! Thanks maesie, Spunk it is .Yes, I've been to a few places like that and I have to talk myself into not buying a budgie out of pity, even though I feel so sorry for them, I just don't want to risk my birds.I can't wait either, I feel like a little kid on christmas .

My New Boy
That's the plan . I can't look at any budgie now without thinking "hmm I could pair you with my budgie and get this or possibly this" .

Babysitting Budgies
That's great, it's really good that you can 'keep in contact' with your hand raised bubs. Have fun vacuuming!

Shocker Of A Day
That's good news about your grandpa. That is a very beautiful photo, the black and white just makes it. Biggest hugs for you and your family maesie :angel1: , we are all here for you .

My New Boy
Cheers maesie, well no name yet, but I think you may just have given me an idea! Spunk would be a great name for him (with your permission of course ). Thanks Kaz . Yeah, I was so impressed with the bird dealer I went to today. When mum and I pulled up to the front of this old, run down building, I started thinking 'Oh no' (but never judge a book by it's cover!) Inside, I was in there looking for quite a while , all the birds looked so healthy and the cages clean and I didn't see one dirty water dish or empty food bowl. And I was talking to the sales lady about the budgies and she seemed very friendly and honest. And when I purchased 'Spunk' she told me "remember to quarantine" and that "he is due for worming at the end of march", I'd never been told that by any pet shop/bird dealer before! So I was pretty happy and will be going back there again.

Breeding
Well today I got my 'supplies' at bunnings and nest box number 1 was attatched to Arwen & Estel's breeding cage this morning. I didn't have a problem with the weight, but thanks for the tip Kaz . This evening I went into the garage to take out the veggies and Arwen was in the nesting box with Estel hovering around the entrance (they certainly didn't waste any time ), I hope this is a good sign .

My Budige Starts Biting
Hi and welcome to you and your flock. If Gumpy is as you say about 3 months old, it is probable he is going through his first moult and is just a bit grumpy (as the others have mentioned). Hopefully the biting should pass .

Breeding
Thanks guys . Well I've moved the perches and today grandpa brought down the nesting boxes....but forgot the hooks to attatch them to the cage....whoops. I scrounged around for some in the garage and I found a few that looked ancient and were beyond rusted....they are now in the bin. So tomorrow it's off to bunnings to buy some thicker dowel and hooks (before going to the other bird dealer). Unless there is another way of attatching the nestingboxes???

Too Fat!
Poor Milly and Squee. Though I'm sure under your fantastic care they will be in tip top shape in no time :oliveb: . Don't be too hard on yourself, when life gets very busy, even the simplest things or the things that we know by heart that we should/shouldn't do slip our minds. Atleast you saw the problem and are addressing it immediately, that in itself says alot :oliveb: . Good luck with your budgie fitness program!

Olive
Thanks for sharing the pics Chryso ! She is doing great! I love her to death, she just has soooo much personality. Though I feel very guilty keeping her in her quarantine cage, because all she wants to do is get to the other budgies. Yesterday I got 3 new budgies and two new cages so I thought I may aswell clean out all the other bird cages. Hers was the first to be cleaned....I had to change the newspaper 3 more times that day because she had dumped her water on it. So I had to keep filling up her water container too (I'm going to invest in one of those external water containers, can't remember what they are called though). Then when she dumped her water for the last time (this was about 7pm)....we had run out of newspaper! Unbelievable (Laughing out loud) (mum had taken the recycling out that morning and I had forgotten to take out more papers). ....And then she crawled beneath her seed dish and head butted it a few times, so that fell down too. Seed stuck to wet newspaper....fantastic. I've also used 12 pegs (I use three at a time, one for wach door) because she has chewed them back so far they don't clamp down on the bars. I've had to replace one of the original natural perches because it got too thin from chewing. I fixed th ball toy, put it back in, it was in pieces not five minutes later. And she's chewed a few holes in her cover blanket. Oh and everytime I open the door to change her water/food (which is quite often!) she'll jump down onto the floor and try to sqeeze out past my arm, so I have to be very careful. She is so cool! :oliveb: :oliveb: :nest: This afternoon I'm giving her a eucalyptus branch, we'll see how long that lasts, I'll get some pictures and possibly a vid.

Midday Naps
Great photos maesie and Kaz, your budgies look so cute all fluffy and sleepy like that :oliveb: . Though I fail to see how sleeping with your head twisted around and tucked against your back could be comfy :oliveb: .

The Newbies
Thanks guys....Tango is such a little character, he is so much fun to watch. I can't wait to see him and Olive in the aviary together! Though the way these two act, I may regret saying that :ausb: :oliveb: :oliveb: Let me know when your flight gets in.....so I can take Tango and hide :nest: .

Chit Chat Before & During Naps.
Yes my budgies do this too :oliveb: . The worst one by far is Skittles, whenever he sits still he chatters away to himself and I just love it when he sits on my shoulder and does it. But then you get this one loud SCREEEEECH! and go deaf for a few hours :oliveb: .

I'm Getting A New Puppy!
YAY!! How exciting :(Laughing out loud): . I'm so looking forward to pictures. I think that Snugglepuppie toy sounds awesome , I've never heard of anything like that before. It sounds like little Shandy is going to have everything and more that a puppy could want! I might have to sneak it onto my Visa Card, ssshhh, dont tell anyone!! :hap: :hap: Don't worry, your secret is safe with me :hap: .
