  1. Sounds like he is just moulting - some moults are heavier than others. one cause of a heavy moult can be a change in diet - this type of moulting can be so heavy they get bald spots. It sounds like your budgie is having his first moult, and there is nothing to worry about
  2. Awwwwww Thay have grown up so much. Great photos too

Go fish, i used to like it, but cereal only tastes good when away on holidays now Do you find it hard to change your daily routine?
  5. Very nice. I had a pet rat once too. His name was Tempalton and he stunk really bad, but he was lovely otherwise

    Toast. Do you hate ironing?
  8. If he is around 12-36 weeks old than he is in his adolescence and being moody - they get quite cranky in this period so just try and ignore the biting as you don't want him to lean that biting makes him get his own way.
  9. Very pretty
  10. Give the baby tiel a feed using Libby's crop milk ---> HERE Feed morning, noon and evening until the mum takes over. If the tiel hen isnt feeding by tomorrow than consider fostering. a wren can rear a cuckoo so guess it could be possible.... but in saying that a wren is no where near as intelligent as a budgie. foster to a budgie as a last resort as it's not known if it will work. The cockatiel chick will grow a lot bigger than the budgie chicks so it would take most of the parents food and time making the other chicks go without. If you were going to try it, foster the baby budgies to another nest and make the tiel the only chick in the nest. The tiel chick will be better with its tiel parents so i really hope your hen starts to feed it soon.
  11. Great buy. Love the aviary and a very pretty bird - what type is he?

He sure has. He was in a pet shop listed as "free" because he was getting picked on by all the other budgies in the shop, and he couldn't stand on a perch because of "flat feet" which is really rickets. After 6 months of socialisation and TLC he has come around to being a really happy and healthy boy - his disability is barely noticeable now I have even seen him having a crack at the females in the aviary. He is my smallest budgie, but he definitely makes up for his size with personality
  14. WOOOOO! congratulations
  15. I use a big net. It's long and thin so the birds fly straight into it. Its made from a fine mesh fabric that is quite smooth so the birds don't get caught in it
  16. This sounds so odd to me. 4 months old and still not weaned... a budgie will eat when hungry, that's how the bubs learn to feed themselves when weaning. Is there any chance that she could have some sort of mental disability that stops her from knowing how to take care of herself
  17. Awwwww I hope you are feeling better soon

They are doing well with their change. Scooter and Latte are fitting in nicely, they didn't leave each other side for the first 2 days, but now they are starting to feel more comfortable and making new friends :fly: Cookie has taken it the hardest, he has been quiet and a bit sooky the last two days - Although this morning he is sitting on the play gym singing his little heart out, which is a lovely way to start the day Cookie is starting to come when i call him, and he loves playing with his little ball - sooooo cute to watch I will try and get some photos and/or video of these sometime
  19. Bush budgies sell for $40 a pair here in SA. They are tiny little things and are the complete opposite to a show budgie. Remember to show us photos if you get some :fly: Good luck
  20. Good luck with the snake. Use some :ratty: :ratty: :ratty: to lure it out of hiding
  21. The black stuff is creosote and it stops termites (i love the smell of that stuff )
  22. Neat, you may want to PM the link to Zebra - i bet she would be interested in it
  23. very interesting Would be great fo those over seas who dont have access to eucalyptus
  24. I am the same, I would not like the look of seeing the pots either. You could put the cacti in their posts in the planter and fill all the gaps etc with ornamental pebbles and gravel until it looks like the pots are completely covered. My mum has an old wheel burrow with plants planted in it - i think it looks very sweet in her garden
