Balki Has Joined George And Franklin
Hi all My newest addition Balki is out of quarantine and has joined my other 2. He is very happy to have new friends. I don't think George and Franklin have accepted him completely as yet. When Balki gets close to them they peck at him but they haven't hurt him or have been violent towards him. I guess it may take a bit of time for them to get used him. I was wondering if it is common for a flock not to accept a new member? My first was George and when I introduced Franklin they got on like a house on fire and followed each other all the time. I have included a couple of pics of my 3.

Is Franklin A Bird Or A Bloke?
Hi there I have asked this question previously about whether Franklin (the white one) is a he or she but I am still uncertain and was hoping that some recent pics in the links below may be able to determine the sex of Franklin if anyone can help. Franklin does not bite and is a little dominant or bossy if that helps. I visited an avian vet today and she is also not 100% certain and I was told that the only way to find out for sure is to do a blood test. Please click on links below (Franklin is the white budgie). :hap: http://www.vickykh.com/gallery2/v/Huynhie/...071494.jpg.html http://www.vickykh.com/gallery2/v/Huynhie/...081566.jpg.html http://www.vickykh.com/gallery2/v/Huynhie/...081587.jpg.html http://www.vickykh.com/gallery2/v/Huynhie/...081584.jpg.html Thanks

My New Budgie Balki
Hi Elly Thanks for that. I will take a picture of his back later today. I bought him from a local pet shop and usually find that baby budgies cost around the AUD35.00 dollar mark in shops.

My New Budgie Balki
I visited my local pet shop to buy a few accessories and ended up buying a new baby budgie. :budgiedance: I have named him Balki. He was a little scared when I brought him home but has settled now. He is in quaranteen at the moment away from my other 2, George and Franklin. They will have a new buddy soon. Does anyone know what type he is?

George And Franklin On The Laptop
Thank you. Actually, the blue one is George and the white one is Franklin. George is a real sweetie. He is gentle and never bites. He likes to take naps on a regular basis, so it doesn't surprise me he took a nap on the laptop. Where as Franklin is more of a rebel and can be a little naughty at times. They both have different personalities but enjoy each others company and are always close to each other.

Just though I'd share a couple of pics of George and Franklin playing on my laptop.- A New Buddy!
Fantastic photo's Bea. Your flock looks very happy and they all get along so well. They are all so cute! :ygbudgie: Do you keep your budgies and tiels together in the same cage?- Hello
Fuzzy Butt is very cute! :hap:- My New Budgie
Thanks Elly, I thought I'd skip the quarantine process because when I had them in separate cages in different rooms George was getting very stressed because he could hear another bird chirping so I couldn't help myself but put them together because I felt sorry for him. I know this is wrong health wise and I will separate them now. I really thought my new one was female because of the way that George is responding to it. He is always preening the new one, feeding and always follows it. Vicky- My New Budgie
Hi everyone, I thought that it was time to get George a friend. I gave it some thought and decided to get a boy. The reason for this is because I heard that 2 boys are more likely to get on better than 1 girl and 1 boy and I wont have to worry about any breeding issues as I just want them as pets. I bought the new budgie from a local pet shop and I was told that it is hard to tell the gender when they are very young but was told by the staff that the beautiful white budgie is more likely to be a boy. Also, could anyone tell me the type of budgie it is? I was advised that the new budge is about 6-8 weeks old. Anyhow, after seeing the way that George and the new budgie behave I have a feeling that it is female. Could anyone tell what the gender is by looking at the photos? Any advice would be much appreciated. I am still happy regardless of what it is because they get on very well and I could tell he really needed a friend. I still haven't come up with a name because I want to be certain of the gender before I decide. Any suggestions for a name would also be fantastic. They can't keep away from each other. George is tame but spends less time with me because he prefers the company of his new friend. I still try to handle him because I want him to remain tame and hope the new one will be tame too. I have had the 2 together now for 4 days and they are inseparable. Is this a phase? Will there be a stage when they wont mind being apart and not being so close as they are now? Here are a few photos of the cute couple. Thanks, Vicky- More Pics Of George
Hi Bea You just need to click on "Pics of George" and its a link to the web site with the pics. Thanks, Vicky- More Pics Of George
Hi everyone, Just thought I'd share some more photos of my little one George. Pics of George- Looking Into Getting A New Cage
That's exactly what I was thinking. I have 1 right now and when I get another budgie I plan to have the 2 for some time. If I decide to get some more in the future I know my cage will be big enough. I plan to use my old cage for my new budgie to quarantine for a month and then place it into the new one with my current budgie. George is tame and sits on my hand and I am looking to get another the same. I hope they get along. Will let you know once I get the new one. Vicky- Looking Into Getting A New Cage
Hello, I have one pet budgie named George at the moment and looking at getting a second. I am also looking at getting a new cage and the model of the cage I am interested in getting is 82cm x 46cm x 160cm Tall which includes the stand. It is a popular model which alot of people seem to have on this forum. I will keep the second one in quarantine of course before joining it with my current budgie. I was wondering whether the size of this cage would be too large for 2 budgies. Some advice would be much appreciated. Many thanks.- Pics Of George
Hi Kaz Thank you. I really enjoy this forum. It is very informative and everyone has been so helpful with great advice. I may try for the BOM comp. Thanks, Vicky- Pics Of George
Hi everyone, Just thought I'd share some pics of my pet budgie George. He enjoys watching my pet fighting fish Harry. http://i217.photobucket.com/albums/cc295/vickykh/geroge2.jpg http://i217.photobucket.com/albums/cc295/vickykh/george5.jpg http://i217.photobucket.com/albums/cc295/vickykh/george4.jpg http://i217.photobucket.com/albums/cc295/vickykh/george3.jpg sorry, pictures too large, please check on my signature for allowable size- Wings Flapping Madly While Sitting On Perch
I take George out of his cage every so often and he sits on my hand for a while. He always walks back to his cage when he wants to but what I was curious about is that once he enters his cage and sits on the perch he flaps his wings madly for about a minute. I am not sure why he does this but it is always after he has spent time sitting on my hand? Does anyone know why he does this?- Not Sure If A Mirror Should Be Kept In The Cage
Hi Feathers Thanks for the advice. When I first bought Geroge he was very quiet in the first few days and a friend suggested i buy a mirror so it thinks it has company and would respond by chirping, singing. It worked and he was making more noise but after a while i thought he was getting too attached. I will now remove the mirror. Should be interesting if he changes. Thanks, Vicky- Not Sure If A Mirror Should Be Kept In The Cage
My pet budgie George is 4 months old. I have had him for 3 weeks now. I take him out of his cage when I can and he sits on my hand and likes having his head scratched but seems to like being in his cage more than outside which is part of his personality. when he is in the cage he would look at his reflection in the mirror in his cage and sing thinking its another bird. If he is sitting on the perch or sleeping at night he would be right up to the mirror with its side resting against it. I am not sure if this healthy, being so attached to the mirror. I thought that by having the mirror it would give him something to do and he would not feel lonely when I am not around but i am a bit worried that he is seems so attached to it. I have also noticed that sometimes when I am about to take him out of his cage because he wont come out on his own and he sees that I am about to take him out he would get closer to this mirror which makes me think he wants to be with the mirror rather than me. Should I be concerned about this? Any advice would be most appreciated. Thanks - George And Franklin On The Laptop
