What Is Franklin Doing?
Hi Maesie He sometimes brings something up. I only see him do this when he sits on my hand, knee or if he is perched on the monitor of my laptop when I am facing him. He has been behaving this way for the past 3 weeks. He is not on any medication and seems healthy. I hope its not a sign of illness.

What Is Franklin Doing?
Every so often when Franklin is sitting on my knee or hand he does this? It looks like he is bowing and regurgitating. I have a video of this behaviour. Sorry the video is not great quality and is a bit dark. Can someone tell me what he is doing? Click Here to See Franklin

Thank you Kaz, your knowledge and advice is always appreciated. That's fantastic you picked up that it was a she first thing. When I originally asked if its a he or she I was getting both from members and deep down I was hoping for a boy but now I dont mind because she is such a cutie.

Henry And The Cushion
Thanks Libby and Elly for clearing that up. I wasn't sure from the start whether it was a he or she. I've changed the name to Henrietta. The strange thing is that she doesn't bite and is singing which is more common for males. I guess I'm lucky to have such a lovely hen. hehe

I Clipped George's And Franklin's Wings
George and Franklin have been extemely naughty flying on my tv and sitting there perched and then flying back to the top of their cage back and forth. If I wanted to get them back into their cage it would be nearly impossible because I would be chasing them around and so I decided that I had to clip their wings. I had cut all their primary feathers thinking this would be okay but then found out that I cut too many and should of left some so they can fly just a bit. Anyhow, the problem of them flying onto the tv has been solved but should I be concerned that too much has been cut. I have noticed that when they are in the cage they used to fly from the floor to the first perch but now they cant and crawl onto the cage to get to the perch. I feel bad for clipping their wings and Franklin is a little grumpy. He does not seem like his usual self towards me. Normally when I feed him millet from my hand while he is in the cage he would sit there eating happily and would peck at any of the other birds that try to eat the millet as well. I tried feeding him the millet after he had his wings clipped and he showed no interest which is very unusual for him. After I clipped George's wings he was sitting on my finger singing for quite some time. George had not sat on my finger for that long in a while.

Going From Pretty Tame To Not Very Tame...
I'm sorry to hear that. It is possible that your other 2 birds may have had an illness which they caught of each other. General signs to watch for that your bird/s may not be well is if they're fluffed up, sleeping alot in the day and lethargic. Try feeding your bird millet from your hand. This may make your bird used to your hand again. It could motivate your bird to become tame again. Best of luck with getting your budgie tame again.

Going From Pretty Tame To Not Very Tame...
Hi Dave I know what you are going through. My first budgie George was tame when I bought him and was happy to sit on my fingers and allowed me to scratch his head from time to time. When I introduced my second budgie Franklin he changed and did not want to spend time with me. When I tried to get him to step up on my finger he wouldn't and rather sit close to Franklin. After a couple of weeks George went back to being his normal self again and would sit on my finger again and then Franklin became a bit more tame too. I think this behaviour could be a phase because your first budgie didn't have another bird as a friend for a long time and is very excited to now have one and wants to be with it all the time. I'd say give it some time and patience. Still try and spend time with your budgie by talking to it and being close to it. Don't try to force it too much to sit on your hand and gradually it could go back to being tame again. How long have you had your second budgie for?
