thanks guys. the poor girl she went through so much so here is hoping that where ever she is now that she is happy. I wish i could have done more but both vets told me she was a much older bird so maybe it was just the end of her time here.

okay I have one budgie who got very sick. She has been on Doxi but from the moment she came to live with me her droppings look like this Now She is perfectly healthy in all other ways, she is active, does not have a messy bottom, no tail bobbing (well not any more) no discharge around the nose and mouth. I have looked up sites but can't find droppings that look like this? Any ideas? She has a little while longer on the doxi but I am stumbled to what is going on. She is on a seed only diet due to the Doxi so it's not like a veggie could be giving her the runs. She has been wormed and de mited. Hmmm any suggestions?

Ivan gave me this little hen I then went and saw Shane Thompson a breeder down there and got Lutino hen '07 Opaline Green split with clearwing hen '07 Albino split with lacewing cock '06 And then he had a Greg O'Connell bird that he bought a auction but did not pair up with that he wanted so culling him The Grey spilt with ino cock '06 Also Biuddy and Boof got their new cage set up finally. I wish the stand was a bit higher but in the end it was free so not going to complain! Sorry for the crappy photos.

okay well I moved some in. About a week ago I split the hens that I was going to put down to nest out form the cocks and granted it might not be enough time to ensure that the chicks are the cocks but they are pet types and I paired them as they have been pairing up in the avairy so a little bit of lukcy dip but we will see how we go.

I really thought she was getting better and then today i went out and she was dead. She was the one that was found and was sick and I did try everything I could to get her better but in the end there was nothing more I could do. I just hope that the last few months of her life she was happy and feeling better. I know she was an older bird so I think her body just gave out. RIP Sky

I can second MB, people don't think of rats as pets as they go for the cute cuddly types but rabbits can be nasty and GPs can be really messy and run away. I would go for a rat, i have had mice and rats and both are great. Rats bond better with owners and don't smell. Look up rat breeders and do get through them and not through a pet store as you will get a much better rat or have a chat to MB as she might know some rat breeders.

Macka yes and no, alot of the time the club has gone through and taken the best birds from the aviary, however when there are 200 - 500 and sometimes more birds then the club may not be able to re house all of them as quickly as Ivan can. He goes in and takes down an avairy in a day so if the family want to get rid of it all it goes. Ivan and Jock have been involved and I believe that Jock was the president of the Mountain club down here in melbourne for like 6 years so they know what they are doing and do take all the birds and sort it out later. I breed pet types as well as show types and Ivan thought that this lady would have the birds in good nick but in this case it was not to be, her health had failed her and she should have called him in month ago not weeks ago. it was sad and it was a situation where she could not physically look after the little guys anymore. I spoke to Ivan and he gave me a nice little girl from the large avairy clean out he was doing and then I went and saw a breeder and picked up another 4 birds I really like so feeling a little better. But a sad situation. I had been told going in that she breed pet types and only had one rung bird so i was not getting my hopes up about getting some great show bird more thought I might get some pretty pet types to play with. I might go with Ivan when he does the next big one and see what he does and how he does it.

Flights? I don't have flights yet I jimmy the garage door open and the back door is open during the day except for the mesh/screen door then at night I shut everything up so it should be fine. When I convince my parents that i need flights then I will get the front garage door changed to windows and a door.

Alot of avairys that ivan does are show birds the reason he gave me this one is because there are not enough birds and not enough show birds so will see how we go. Sometimes Ivan pays for them sometime it's the family of an old breeder who has been moved into a nursing home or has passed away. Ivan does try to place the nicer birds with breeders and I am not on his "Call if a nice show type comes in" list. The random birds get put through his pet shop and the old and the sick either get put down, given meds or put into a large flight avairy he has. One of the real reasons I got lemon and lime, they had gone into the old age flight but she kept nesting on the ground so he had to get her out of there and lime came with her. Will let you know what happens tomorrow.
