  1. What really sucks is that I had a bottle that I had had for ages when I only has a few birds that went off now I rip through it!
  2. WEll that just sucks! **Hugs** do you have any idea what caused it?
  3. I got a little hand wiz thing from safeway for about $40, I put carrot, broc, cooked potato, apple, snow peas, cooked beetroot, cooked egg and dry egg shell in it and wizzzzzzzz (not all at once but combinations of the above) and get Budgie mix, my guys love it I even add Millet seed to it or regular seed if I have a problem eater. Anything leafy I tear up or roughly chop (they go nuts for silverbeet) and also I cut the corn off the cob and give them that or canned corn if I can't find good corn cobs. I have been playing a game of can it blend! The other great thing is that one the weekend I make up tubs of stuff and then just dish it out each day ( I have a bar fridge in my breeding room so keeps it all nice and fresh for me). Normally around thursday I do another lot so it cuts down prep time in the morning.
  4. *runs off to buy a yellow faced hen*
  5. I know the hen does will have to check the cock tonight
  6. Ha poor girl she was a toss up, one that I took to round out the 4 and not my fav but there must be something there that I am not seeing.
  7. I would say they are being rolled you just don't know about it! If you are really worried you can mark them with a marker (just be careful the type that you use) that way to you see better if they are being moved but really I would just leave them and then hen to do her job.
  8. I had thought the same thing MB I have some about to hatch I think so will see if they are reptive to the idea of them.
  9. Seems Charlie Died. Brandon told me today when we where doing a check on the birds today. His friend said how the mother had spoken to the "breeder" and she had told them X and they decided that was the information to follow and the poor baby passed on. Brandons friend ask Brandon if I had any babies that he could purchase at which Point Brandon begged me not to give them one and I would not anyway. I tired to educate and inform I know I was short to the mother on the first night but after that I was very diplomatic but in the end the poor bird suffered. They went back to feeding it pellets only and I would say it starved to death. RIP little one. :angel1:
  10. Great News!
  11. I can tell you this for sure he is not a normal green. I agree he might be a spangle but on this screen hard to tell. A Normal green would look like this Wild Type Show Type Pet Type Sorry for the bad pictures but as you can see there is not way your little fellow is a normal green. He is very cute however
  12. Just don't tell him, really would he notice the new additions? Be sneaky... distract him to the front and sneak the bird in the back Good luck budgie shopping post pictures of what you get!
  13. What Kaz said in Vic birds have to be club rung. join the club gets some rings and start ringing your chicks that way you can show them.
  14. I am going to try a reply but feel free to ignore and listen to others as I am still getting the hang of this. My gut tells me that you want to pair him with a normal and to make sure the normal is not split with anything so that it truly is a normal. I would also say if you wanted to keep the green you need a normal mutation that is resessive so a normal grey would be good. You could go a normal green but then you need to find one that matches his colourings if you want to keep his colours as her green could dominate over his. So yeah I think a normal grey would be your best bet but then maybe I am really wrong so everyone else please feel free to tell me I am way off track!
  15. Can she glide? If so then this is the best excise for them. Get them about a foot off the ground and left them glide to the ground with a little splat, this will get her use to using her wings and hopefully get her flapping a bit more. If you want her flighted then keep this up untill you start seeing her flying again. It takes alot of muscle energy to fly and they need to build these up. As her wings grow in you will see that she goes better and better and hopefully with time and paratice she will get the hang of it. Just be careful not to give her to much hight to start with as she could damage herself when she hits the ground. There is hope, one of my guys lost all his flight feathers and could not fly for years but with practise and time I have managed to get him where he can fly once around a small room before it get to much for him. Hopefully come spring in the avairy he will want to chase his girlfriend around and the more excersie and practise he will be able to fly like a pro. Keep us updated.
  16. Does she do what I call take off? Basically they hold onto a perch and flap their wings like mad this simulates flying and helps develop their wings. What happened to her flight feathers? If you clipped them did you do it after she learnt to fly? it's important that babies get some flight time before they are clipped. It should not effect her, if you are really worried make sure she has lots of gliding time

okay I need pictures of your birds.... Also welcome!
  21. when she came home with me almost 6 weeks ago I changed her diet but since then it has been stable Yeah I thought of that however the vet says that as it is white not green that it is not it. I might see how she goes after she finishes the doxi and give her a bit to see if everything stablizes if not then i will have to take her to the vets again.
  22. If you can get anywhere near the motor try a hair dryer on low works wonders on mine!
  23. I am **** with genetics however I agree with the pie on these two
  24. I do like the brighter colours really starting to fall for the bright greens and yellows. to the point where there is part of me that just wants to try and breed some really big lutinos! I was talking to my cousin today (he's the one that breeds the ringnecks i txt you about) and he was saying the same thing. Also the really nice bright green cock I got the other week is a thought for the opaline as i would not mind putting both of the greys together will see how it goes. not sure, she might be I get confused with clearwings... she was a talking to Ivan "here I have something for you" got given a box came home and that was her... will have to get a good picture of her in the light so that other can work it out for me.
