  8. You may know the song "We're not gonna take it" (Twisted Sister).. my 4 year old grand daughter quite seriously sings "We're not going to daycare, no, we're not going to daycare... we're not going to daycare...any more!!" and like Deb's... when my first son was 2 or 3 he took everything we said seriously. I remember clearly when he was playing on the floor in a doorway with his little cars and we told him "get out of the road with those cars please".. you guessed it.. he picked up his little cars and headed outside to go and play on the road!

I LOVE the names!! How inventive "Razzle" and "Dazzle"... They're all beautiful!! I think my favourites though are "Poka" and "Pie"... (poke-a-pie??? ).
  16. I love posts like this.. I watch.. and wait.. with baited breath to see what happens next and to watch the bubs growing. Its one of the joys of a forum such as this. Even if you are not a breeder yourself (lack of space and time) you can still live along with those who are. You feel the sadness when chicks die as if they are your own but then the excitement as you see them feather up and grow. Thank you to those breeders who share their photos and babies milestones with us!!! :hap: :hap:
  17. Beautiful videos to watch!!! How on earth did you train him so well?? What were you using to reward him with? I love that you've obviously trained him with love (and food).. he looked really to be enjoying doing his tricks. Sorry to hear he is no longer with you but you obviously have great talent in training .. so undoubtedly your new baby will be wowing us in no time!! Congratulations Jessica!! The videos are fabulous!!!
  18. Charley doing what he loves best!!
  19. So true.. you know when "mr right" comes along... I fell in love with Charley the minute I saw him. Actually my daughter saw him when the breeder had him in his hands. She phoned me and said "mum, you HAVE to come down here NOW!!! You'll LOVE this budgie!!!! He's so TAME!!" .. so I got in the car, and as expected, fell in love with him the minute the man put Charley on my hand. He's a year old now and we're practically inseparable!! We're very "close" (many people think we're BOTH mad!! ) !! Good luck with your babies. I'm sure you'll find one (at least!!) that is just as special!!!

Thats touching!! How beautiful to get the photo of the little hatchling at that moment!! Thank you for sharing!! Cant wait to see how many more babies hatch!!!!
  21. I LOVE watching Charley having a bath and thought I'd share these few shots with you... First... we DIVE in.. head first!! Dog paddle to the other side... Try a u-turn (in a confined space!).. Head back to the other side... and.... on the edge.. for a well earnt rest!!
  22. Managed to get a few shots of "spunkey spikey"! this one isnt very clear.. but I thought I'd post it anyway as he's having a great giggle to himself.. (I have reduced the photos as advised on the forum, hopefully they're not still too large!)
  23. Thanks for the comments. I really was worried when he had the "head rash". I'm so happy it wasnt a disease! And here I was thinking he was in love with my hand when all the time he was merely using it as a scratching post!!  I have never seen a budgie's head this spikey before!! :hap: I'd love to get a good headshot of him but he's got to be the most annoying photo-model ever!! He just wants to sit on the camera and trying to catch him 'unaware' is almost impossible. I'll keep persevering though! :hap:
  24. I'm relieved to find that Charley's "naked red head" has given way to a porcupine head! :hap: The head rubbing was therefore perhaps due to itching while his new pin feathers were coming through? Is that what happens?? Do they really itch and annoy when they're coming through? I've never seen him with pin feathers on his head before. He is one year old this week so perhaps he is approaching "puberty"?? He looks terribly cheeky with his spikey hair style!!!
  25. yes.. definitely talking a lot to them and repetitively. When I enter the room where Charley is I always say "good morning Charley" (whatever time of day it is!!) ..he says it all the time. I find he picks up new phrases within 3 days but I do repeat them over and over to him. Sometimes he picks up things "accidentally". Like "what are you doing?" .. was something I say to him when he has one of his "flap attacks" (going crazy with the wings!) result is he now asks me all day long "what are your doing?" Patience is really all you need and dont be self conscious about looking (and sounding) stupid by talking to a bird, saying the same thing over and over again. I felt like a goose standing for hours at the cage going "you look nice today... you look nice today... " but it paid off, he tells me every time I walk in the door how nice I look today!
