  3. Yes a extra nest box & make sure they are all at the same height.
  4. All you have to do now Kaz,is to mate them to the right partner & could see some at the WA National next year.
  5. I have heard of that happening Kaz.But have never had to try it.I have been lucky ,haveing another pair to put them with.By the look of those chicks. Its worked a treat
  6. Aunty. If you are in a club. Some of the senior breeders, will show you how to despot & If I was you I would pratice on some birds, that you are not going to show.If you pull the wrong spot it dosent matter. But get ome one to show you first.
  7. That cage is okay. Its not like you are going to put a dozen or so in there, are you,. :feedbirds:
  8. Yes E.That is correct.Go to the head of the class.
  9. Kaz,Do the shows over there in the west have unbroken classes this time of the year. They don`t start till September here. Will be interesting to see how he goes. The best of luck.
  10. Ally,The Rec Pie is Prince.Colbalt blue, white spot on back of head= blue/rec. Small spot on back of head of a budgie,is amark to say split for recessive. I breed Recessive pies.& when I breed Normals & spangles to Recessive Pie the only splits I keep are the ones with the spot on the back of the head. Anyway it dos`nt matter.Neat is only breeding for pretty birds. :feedbirds:
  11. Ally, I think you will find, that normals are not split for dom pie.Only for Rec Pie. :budgiedance:
  12. I think she might be a bit over weight too,you would need to mate her to boof headed cock bird.
  13. They will be SKY blue & Cobalt,& split for albino & Rec Pie.
  14. Personaly I do`nt feed any soaked seed.In the breeding boxes.I make up amixture of grain bread & greens &breeding aid.A hard boiled egg & into the blender & feed it out at about a tea spoon each breeding box.
  15. No they are still cooking.

If the eggs are not fertile, its pointless the hen siting on them for 18 to 20 days.If you check the first egg & its not fertile, you can remove it & the next 1or 2if they are the same. The follow up eggs may be fertile.

Candle them 5 to 7 days after the hen has been siting. You will be able to see the difference between afirtile egg & a clear.Good breeding.
  18. Yes ,it is better to use grey/ to albino.Useing Roweys birds, you are best to use birds with his blood lines in them.Next season use the offspring, from the rowe bird.Mate her to a grey next round & mate the best from the 2 nests back together.
  19. The word at the Sheild on Sunday, good birds went cheap at the Bendgo Auction on Satueday 12th.There was only 39 bidders & 130 birds. Not far from you Splat, would of been a good auction to be at.That the day we have our club champion show & select the team for the sheild & could`nt make it.Perhaps next year.Top price $ 500.00 D/F spangle hen.
  20. There will be a budgie auction on june 16th in Ballarat.Melton july 8th. Western Suburbs21st july. They will no doubt have crested at these auctions.
  21. No I would`nt put Javas in with bubgies.
  22. Shine atorch on the eggs & you will be able to tell if they are fertile. The easy way to do it is have the eggs in a dark spot & shine the light though the eggs & if they are clear, remove them.I would pluck some feathers from the vent of both birds & let them have another goround.
  23. Good on you Daz,3 going to the inter club tomorrow.Best of luck. :feedbirds:
  24. Bea there is a fair chance, that is the probelm.Because the inside climate would be changeing all the time.
  25. Now there is a difference, between wild budgies, the Australian show budgie, before the english budgie come along. In the case of the pet budgie.A lot would have a infusion of the english budgie in them. The wild budgie is atight feathered budgie & 99% of the time green & small. The beak looks as big as there head.
