  1. Wonder how it is going, 3 members from my club drove through the night, lol glad them and not me, Mark has some stunning birds and I would love to own some of them but a lot are flecked. I have enough flecking in my aviary so my view is that I am not missing out of much and plus they are right out of my price bracket. If I had the money that my club members took up there i would buy myself a new car and a good one at that so I can get around again (go to the next shield would be nice). lol Once the flecking appears it is very hard to get rid of. The flecking in my birds is hidden and I believe it is coming from the Watson blood birds. This is my view only so no one bite my head off. I have an update, just heard that the top price bird so far got $6,000. wow
  2. I try and leave mine in the breeding cabinet until they are 6 weeks, sometimes they stay there until they are 8 weeks if the parents don't mind. When I put them in the kindy cage I make sure there are some older babies in there because they help them too. I had one chick that wouldn't feed himself no matter what he stayed with his dad until he was 9 weeks old. My chicks start jumping out around 4 to 5 weeks and I just keep putting them back.
  3. I was wondering how you would get a df spangle until Neville corrected he prediction it.
  4. great news Dave the fertility is happening.
  5. You have some nice looking chicks there squeak, you must be happy with them.
  6. How old are they John?
  7. lol they would of being cursing you all , oh well they will have to take another break next week for the peace and quite.
  8. Yes she is nice Dan really happy with her.
  9. okay Time for an update. Things have been progressing slowly here. I have had a few DIS which I have found annoying. I have lost a few chicks with that strange flat back and then they go splayed leg. A few yellow belly deaths But we have worked out what it was. The stupid hens are sitting to tight and flatting the chicks, i even put large eggs in the nest but didn't work. I took the last 2 from one nest and put them in another nest and they have come good. Any way over all I have bred some nice little chicks so far. Pictures later. This morning I found a 4 week old chick on the floor dead, I have no idea why, I noticed yesterday that he was jumping out of the nest a few times but he is all feathered up, you wouldn't think he would die from the cold. He looked perfect just dead. So I need to keep a close eye on them now just in case something sinister is going on. I am very happy with my spangle pied nest, they had 6 chicks all pieds, No spangles and no spangle pieds, well the youngest is a bit young to tell yet. But the other 4 are dom pieds, one died. So far I have 1 violet pied, I think 2 cobalt pieds and just waiting on the youngest to see what colour. The chicks are starting to look promising. The parents are sky violet spangle and dark green dom pied hen. Another nest I have 2 white df spangles and a cobalt opaline spangle, the cobalt op spangle is looking really promising The parents are white Df spangle cock x grey opaline cinnamon spangle hen. Another nest I have a heap of chicks scattered every where. The parents are violet green cock x dark green hen. I have that I can tell 3 dk greens or olives the tails look a bit blue, one violet 3 more are green but what I don't know yet and 4 more are to young to tell. Another nest I have a violet and maybe a grey. parents are grey cock x violet hen, this is the nest I lost most of them to yellow belly. Another nest I have a green spangle and I think a grey spangle parents are light green spangle cock and sky cinn opaline hen Try and do photos later.
  10. Wow Huge club Daz, I thought the same thing as Kaz, big bike little tent.lol. Glad you had a great weekend. Boy I reckon it would of been noisy when you all started your Harleys up. Deathing I would think.
  11. Cross my fingers Dave for fertility now I have found that those huge big eggs don't hatch, I have had quite a few but one went right through to hatching but died trying to hatch out, the shell was really hard.
  12. John I forgot to mention that I also put Vetafarm Tracemine with the soluvite D Breeder along with calcivet. I only put the calcivet in 3 days a week.
  13. Thanks John. As for the Vetafam soluvite D Breeder, you are better off getting the breeder because it is much more economical. You use 1 gram to a litre of water, where is the one that is not the breeder one is 4 grams to a litre of water and it is gone in no time. The Breeder is quite expensive but I went halves with mine with another breeder.

My cage fronts don't have the little wire that goes up into a hole. mine just go on the front on the cage, I use plastic fly screen clips to keep them in place and it makes for very easy cleaning too.
  15. Thank you Budgie Mate, I really love my new birdroom and I just love my little kitchen, all the hard work was totally worth it.
  16. I have always set rings aside for cages , so when I recorded them they are in order but this year I haven't they are all over the place. And I hate having things everywhere.

Does he have a ring on, if he doesn't it would be hard to tell because he could be any from 4 months because he has gone through his 1st moult to years old.
  19. LOL..That's a good reason to call the bird holy ****.. On a serous Note.. Nubbly I hope you really have a better breeding season than me. My sucks. very disappointing.
  20. Funny, I had a hen given to me,a beautiful yellow face cobalt, but she had minor splayed legs but she still bred and lovely babies too, but she always landed on the floor ... splat.. and not relising I would have to live with this user name for ever I thought at the time splat is good for a while. I wish I had of use "Julie". But anyway I am now known as Splat and Splattie to some. I really feel splatted lol. Ha ha at least I am Platinum now Dan , which I never even relised I had that title until Dan pointed it out.
  21. Na, i wouldn't mind a special Title but can't think what????????????? After all I totally regret my user name SPLAT!!!!!
  22. Good advice Kaz. That's horriable, who would be so mean. Yes jail once the owners are finished with them. Oh well better teach Jake stranger danger then, and teach not to eat anything from strangers.lol Everyone is a stranger to him. aggrhh woof
  23. Oh you mean the drinkers, yes I put Soluvite D Breeder
  24. I like to see them try and get in this yard. Jake would eat them for dinner. I tell he is as gentle as lick you to pieces if we are home and let you in but boy if someone comes here the hackles stand up and his bark scary as. If I didn't live here there is no way I would try and enter. We have had plenty of people scream out and to afraid to come in. lol But that is his job, a good watch dog. I even go up the street now and leave the back door open, no one would ever get past Jake. lol Even gone to Shepparton for the day and left the doors unlock. how safe is that.
  25. Yeh all worn out. lol
