  4. Hi Everyone, Are people still using this Budgerigar program or is Yorke's Birdrec program better. I had a quick look at the Budgerigar program website , last update was 2006. Has there been a later update? Any feedback would be appreciated Wayno

Hi Peter, Introduced myself to you on Tuesday, Trying to PM you but its saying you cannot receive any new messages, can you PM me when you get a chance. Thanks Wayne Hi Devil, I hate those b#$st*^ds that don't fly. My flights are high and long and birds have to fly. I feed plenty of oats and I don't get fat birds - because they fly. The damn things have wings because they fly. Make 'em fly and keep 'em fit. Pleased to know that the Melton birds are doing a good job for you. Cheers PT

  10. I think the highest priced budgie was $1000. Can't picture you there, i was one of the clowns wearing the orange vests to the side. PT, great job as auctioneer. Wayno
  11. Henry George Birds varied at the Auction. A friend of mine picked up a cock bird for $20, i got one for $30, Hens went dearer Prices ranged from $20 to $120 for most birds, then he had 3 birds sell, one for $200 and the other 2 for $500 each. I thought his birds did not stand out, there were much better birds there from other breeders.
  12. Hi everyone, Just a reminder about the Western Suburbs Auction on Sunday 9th October. The catalogue is now available on the BCV Website. Will definitely be there, will be helping out as its my club. Say hi if you are coming down. Wayno

  16. Hi can anyone tell me what mutation this budgie is, a good friend dropped it off to me today.
  17. I do ring my birds for identification purposes. Like i said it was the first budgie auction i went to and the people were really nice and i was invited to another one at the end of July. Thanks for your comments.. will try and get some pics up on the weekend.
  18. Hi Everyone, Just wanted to ask a few questions. Recently i attended by first Budgie Auction in Ballarat, Between my friend and I we came home with 9 Budgies. 1 x Texas, a few Crest Bred and Crested and some Pied. There were just over 200 birds up for Auction nd the highest bird sold for $500 which was a stunning Texas Clearbody. Plenty of Ian Hunter Birds there as well. It got me thinking i do not belong to a club and i do not have any ambition to show my birds. I believe my friend and I have birds at home that are equal and if not better than some birds that were sold at the Auction. Between my friend and I we have got good lines of Dilutes, Texas, Lutino's, Albino's and Cresteds going. Would our birds be worth anything to Club Breeders? Is it worth joining a club to share our birds with them? Would our birds be worth more if they were CLUB RUNG? I am happy to post some pics when i get a chance, i have around 54 Birds at the moment. Bendigo Bird Sale is on tomorrow Saturday 7th May in case anyone is interested in attending. Usually a pretty good sale with lots of Birds and Bird Supplies. Wayne
  20. Wayne, Iwas there,I was the Steward on the back door, this year there were more Budgie sellers, there then other years. Now I did't get to see any birds, till after the Crush, & you could move around. But I did notice there were a few lots of Bush Budgie there. A bit of bad luck but the Geelong Club was going to run a sale at the Show Grounds, next Sunday. But most of us are tied up with other things on.So well have our Sale day in December now. PS what type of Finches do you breed. Hi, I also saw lots of Bush Budgies. Would be great to come to the Budgie Sale, where can i find the date of this when it is decided upon? I just found there were not as many club breeders there than in the past. Going to Bendigo in a few weeks and they usually have a few. I keep a lot of finches, mainly the common ones, Been back in the hobby 3 years now and i'm now just deciding on what birds i'm going to keep in the future. These include: Parrot Finches, Blues, Reds and Tri-colour, Gouldians, St Helena's, Stars, Painteds, Parsons, Double Bars, Fires, Green Singers and a couple of others. I also love my budgies and now have about 10 pairs again, but looking at buying a few more pairs.
  21. Hi everyone, Just wanted to start a discussion about the Demand and Supply of Budgies. Especially English Budgies. On the weekend i was a seller at the Geelong Bird Sale, selling mainly finches. I had a quick walk around all 125 sellers tables and i was surprised at the lack of Budgies for Sale, of the 125 Sellers i think there would of been 3 or 4 people selling Budgies and only 2 of these had any decent sized Birds for sale. Compare this to the last 2 years of Bird Sales i have been to where there were lots and lots of Budgies for sale. Are good Budgies becoming harder to find and buy? I recently decided to increase my stock from 8 pairs to 16 pairs. I have had so much trouble finding decent birds, i must say i am not a member of a budgie club and i do not know any club breeders. Talking to other people as well and i have heard the same comments from them. Open for discussion.... Wayne

I too brought one of these traps from Bunnings. I got to a stage where i got sick of seeing mice. I blocked up all holes into the aviary and went about eradicating the mice. Firstly i put bait stations in all aviaries, they had a hole only small enough for a mouse and not a bird and i started to see dead mice on aviary floors each morning which were quickly disposed of. I then put this trap into the bird room against a wall. 1st day - caught 4 - all disposed of 2nd day - 3 3rd day 3 7th day - 2 4 days ago - 2 Yesterday - 0 Today - 0 I'm hoping i have trapped all the mice that were inside the aviary. This trap is great, and you do not have to do alot. Highly recommend. Wayne
