Breeding Cute Lil Baby Budgies ... What Could Go Wrong!
Quarantining - You isolate the New bird from your others if Inside needs to be in a different room if out side needs to me MINIMUM 5 meters away from your current birds ... During this time Deal with your current birds first . Ie changing their food water cleaning etc .. THEN YOU DISINFECT YOUR HANDS not just wash them under water ... .. Then you Deal with the quarantine bird/s ..... In this 4 - 6 week period I start with .... WHITE PAPER ON THE BOTTOM OF THE CAGE ... I am a poo girl SO i like to make sure that I can see any changes with any of my birds in quarantine All items from cage / feeder bowls and perches etc are washed disinfected and left in the sun for 30 mins to kill anything ... Then it is thoroughly washed and let to sun dry for the day .... Then I get my NEW BIRDS  Week 1 Ivermec - This is a medication ( available from Vets ) that is applied 1 drop to the back of the bird/s neck ... It treats for scaly face mites & Lice and mites ..... Even if they do not show signs PREVENTION is better then CURE :bliss: Week 1 Day 3 - I spray with an AIL ( Avian Liquid Insecticide ) Mite & lice spray ... I get a cotton tip ( cotton bud) and Spray the AIL on it and rub it under the birds neck ... I spray the bird over Especially under the wings ... Being careful not to spray in the eyes ... ( if you do it in the cage remove all water and food ) .... ( It is a good idea to have your list written down , As i had forgotten some steps before ) A product called Sunni chick is added to the water :fly: Week 2 Wormer - I don't use the in water method I but the drop of wormer directly on the beak ... Week 3 Rest from meds and a Multivitamin is given every second day in their water .... Week 4 Re worm birds & re spray for mites and Lice ACV added to water again .... Week 5 Sulpha is given as a preventative for Cocci ..... Week 6 ACV is given again .. I usually take the birds to the vet ( avian ) and get a smear done of their poo and a good once over ..... Rested for the week .... I will be getting Doxy and will include that in my quarantine program .... During this 6 weeks period ( not everyone does 6 weeks . I do  ) It is a time of watching and getting to know the bird  I do all the stuff on a Monday and the rest of the week the bird/s are left to get used to their surroundings This had worked for me - With no sickness TOUCH WOOD to this day ......

Health Food stores .. There is one at Narellan .... To start them on it YES add a few drops of honey - each time slowly decreasing the amount of honey.... Some say use sugar ... I will try and take a picture of what I use- What's Up With Neat

Hey all ... I am sorry if I have sounded rude or mean etc in any of my posts the last 2 days ... I have a few issues at home with family members being diagnosed with illnesses and also you may be aware of with the snakes ... Well the icing on the cake was Jake was bitten ... He was Vomiting and drooling ... I called him to come to me and walked up to me then walked away back to the grass area and continued to vomit ...... Dave called the Vet - and told them what was happening with Jake and then advised them that on Thursday Both Him and JD had encounters with the Red Belly ... They were both checked over and no obvious signs of any bites .... But Yesterday Jake became very ill .... Jake was given a anti venom and fluids via IV .. But needed to be monitored for the next 24 hours so he was then taken to Strathfield vet hospital ..... at 11.30 Last night his heart rate had finally lowered and his perky self was beginning to show again .. We called the hospital this morning to see how he was going - His vitals are good - Blood testes were taken Kidney's are good however there is blood in his urine ....He needs to be kept monitored for another 24 hours . To some of you Jake is only a dog and to pay $1,480 on medical bills may seem MAD - But he is apart of my family, Like I have always said ALL pets deserve a right to proper treatment .... I don't know how we are going to get that amount but we will ..... We are now looking at moving - THANK THE GODS! - The kids are little prisoners here and for such out doorsy kids they will go mad being cooped up inside! .... We have an appointment on Monday to view a House .. I really hope that it is going to be okay for us ... My kids, My husband ( not by paper :hap: ) are my life along with my pets I couldn't imagine what I would do if Dave or the Kids was bitten .. So I have a lot of stress going on -- So please if you can put up with me .. Really I mean no malice in what I say ..... I am not a person that Says the "Right" things or shows my feelings alot ... But well that is what is happening with me .... Thanks for the vent- Why I Prefer Organic Acv
Why ORGANIC Vinegar? There is nothing beneficial about commercial distilled vinegars except for pickling, cleaning they have no health value at all! They do not contain the health properties of organic, raw apple cider vinegar with the "mother" (The chunky back wash looking bits on the bottom of the bottle :what: ) still intact and viable. Distilled white vinegar and cider vinegar are considered "dead" vinegars with none of the enzymes and other live factors that make raw, unpasteurized vinegars so valuable. Distilling removes the beneficial "mother" from the vinegar, which then destroys the powerful enzymes and life giving minerals ( like as potassium, phosphorus, natural organic sodium, magnesium, sulpha, iron copper, natural organic fluorine, silicon, trace minerals, pectin and other powerful nutrients. Also destroyed are natural malic and tartaric acids) which are important in fighting body toxins and inhibiting unfriendly bacteria growth WHY USE IT AT ALL Because it can be used medicinally, gets rid of toxins in the body, has disinfecting and cleaning properties and is a natural, nontoxic, biodegradable substance. IT has also been know to eliminate some poisons .The acidic qualities of ACV will help break down protein, in the digestive system, for absorption into the bloodstream. it's natural antibiotic and antiseptic that fights germs and bacteria. We would be smart to make use of vinegar in our own lives and in our avian nurseries and breeding facilities. --- For a healthier, stronger, longer life for our animals and ourselves. ACV destroys microorganisms, including bacteria, fungi, viruses and others, and prevents poisons from reaching the rest of the systems of the body. It has been proven to inhibit the growth of gram-negative bacilli, Pseudomonas, and Candida. The acid nature of vinegar makes the digestive tract environment unpleasant for germs and fungus. Yeast, Fungi, Bacterial and Viruses are what makes our birds sick ............... When you think about it ... using ACV a day could keep the Avian Vet away The following articles were written by Wanda Barras :Apple cider vinegar has proven to be a natural treatment (and preventative) in simple cases of avian pediatric digestive disorders. Dr. Jarvis through his own research believes that apple cider vinegar will lower bloods natural alkalinity, bringing it closer to a natural healthy acid state. A naturally acidic digestive tract digestive, with the correct pH balance, will discourage bacteria and is less likely to grow yeast and fungus. Apple cider vinegar can assist the natural process of breaking food in the stomach. Apple cider vinegar added to young birds drinking water encourages early weaning and healthy weight gain and they will feather out faster. Adding a little raw apple cider vinegar to the hand-feeding formula water can prove nutritionally beneficial and help to inhibit the growth of yeast, fungus and bacteria. In formula a ratio of about ¼ tsp per 4 oz water is best. "Many herbalists recommend the use of raw, unpasteurized, unheated, organic apple cider vinegar as an important dietary ingredient for humans, farm animals and pets, including birds. The Encyclopedia of Natural Pet Care describes apple cider vinegar in this way: "Long a folk remedy, cider vinegar has been shown to improve the health of dairy cows, horses, dogs and other animals. It reduces common infections, aids whelping, improves stamina, prevents muscle fatigue after exercise, increases resistance to disease and protects against food poisoning. Cider vinegar is rich in the vitamins, minerals and trace elements found in apples, especially potassium; it normalizes acid levels [pH] in the stomach, improves digestion and the assimilation of nutrients, reduces intestinal and fecal odors, helps cure constipation, alleviates some of the symptoms of arthritis and helps prevent bladder stones and urinary tract infections."... So I hope that this sheds some light on to the reason why I say use ACV -- Im New And My Nieces Little Billie Is Just Not Happy
Great to hear that he is Diagnosed - CORRECTLY No ever one can see the difference with a AVIAN vet and REGULAR vet .. Did you doubt us on the Raspberry Juice and ACV ( Apple Cider Vinegar) :what:- Related Word Game
