Should I Just Let Them Breed?
Hey mate and WELCOME ... You sound like you have a good head on your shoulders re: the breeding and needing homes and etc But budgies are the most sort after bird - ( from the smaller species) So there are plenty of home always wanting that special little fella / girl ... I don't believe that you meant any harm when you said you will have nothing to do with their upbringing - I take it you meant you will let nature run it course .... But as you haven't breed before you will get that curiosity and then the Bug will hit ya if you re arrange the cage and move it to different places rather then stay in the one spot they are in every 2 weeks this will also help discourage BREEDING - However like Dolphins and Humans Budgie will have sex just because they can not just to reproduce ... An aviary/ flights will be a good solution just look out for anywhere she could call a "nest" Good Luck and again welcome to BBC

Bird Shaking Its Head, Help
there could be a few reasons for this ... But not being a qualified avian vet I can not say. Best is to take him to one a bird that can not eat or drink is at high risk good luck

Off To Perth
You are right RIPbudgies, that building is not part of the WACA. Look closely everyone... please note that picture is taken form the car. You will see other objects in the picture. The cars in front are not part of the WACA, nor is the bush, nor is the orange witches hat/cone. I was driving nearby and saw the light towers. I was making the point that the WACA was over there. Sorry if that posed confusion to others. Love it dave .. LOVE IITTTTT! I am glad I NOW know what the WACA should look like :lol2: Glad to hear that your "holiday" is going so well for you - have a blast mate you deserve it - your long awaited holiday

LOL GB you make me giggle - But you see where I was going with it ... I have so many bloddy budgie books and mags and they all state different "terms" too ... So in reality we shouldn't be so picky with the terms ... UNLESS of course we are all show breeders then I guess we would go by the ANBC- Hello From The Netherlands
Hello & Welkom Glad to have you aboard - I have come across a dutch website http://www.eerstekeuze.nl/cgi-bin/search/keuze.cgi but I am not sure if it is still active ... genieten & veel geluk * My dutch is a little rusty but Enjoy & good Luck- My New Aviary!
fantastic! Great job especially with the drain .. I couldn't tell with the photo's but does the hexagon and safety door have cement flooring too? Birds look happy as in there!!!- Loss Due To Heat
Sorry to hear of your losses Dodge. It been a stinker ( the worse thing is it is hotter then they actually say on the news ) Are your birds in a bird room or out in the open? Mine are outside under a porch so they get the morning sun for 2 -3 hours then they are in shade the rest of the day ... I have made seed bells and hung them up high so that when I hose them they aren't getting water in their feed dishes ... I have used lettuce in their water as this is high in water so will re hydrate them and I have been adding " spark " ( electrolyte) to their water in the after noon .. Hope things pick up mate- Tilly Has A Tumor.
Keep us updated.- Why Won't They Breed?
I agree with SW .. If his wings are still clipped there is a high chance he will not mate successfully- Key areas to look at is 1. Age 2. Condition & Bonding 3. set up - includes nest box position , cage position, stability of perches and positioning of them too ... If they are all sweet as and the pairs have been tried over other birds there is there fertility to look at Good Luck- Yellowface V Goldenface
just adding my 2 bob worth ... When i reply on here or talking to other breeders at meetings I am use to using my "wording" with the YF1 & 2 and GF. Whether it be "politically correct" or not like most breeders they use the terms that they were taught ie referring to a "yellow" and "buff" they are OLD SCHOOL terms too which are still used today by top show breeders ... I guess it is they way we get taught and brought up in the hobby There are breeders out there that will tell you that a YF1 is a Cream face bird and a YF2 is a Bright face bird and a Golden was is an Electric Yellow faced bird .... Then there are those that class how far the yellowing goes over the head and down the chest to class it a YF1/2 But it could be the same discussion with a Creamino technically it isn't a creamino it is a YF albino Just putting it out there- Budgies And Mice?
I agree with everything that has been said too .... Just remember Hygiene! and it should all be peachy :hi:- Tilly Has A Tumor.
Tilly2000, I am really sorry :hi: to say Hi and Welcome under the circumstances ... It's hard when making a decision about a life especially one that has been apart of yours for so long. Quality of life is the most important thing to consider - My thoughts are with you and Tilly- Movement At The Station , Finally
