Some Baby Photos
very cute birds. Since the young are now fledged, you will need to remove the nesting opportunities. they will try and breed, and it will end up killing the hens as the strain on their imamture bodies is too much.

Current Babies
I should print it out and go show the boys their niece. So neither of the offspring of Schitzo look to be spangles, but they are both opaline? That 3rd picture would be excellent for a caption contest. My entry would be "mfmfmfmfghdfgfgg" - hard to form words when your head is being pushed down like that!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Aviary Photos Of Spikey Moults
I was going to take some pics to add in here about moulting birds, but i felt bad for them. Some of the boys have so many pin feathers coming through, and they have these big bald spots, or blood patches. I just cannot bring myself to point the camera their way.

Good Seed Mix For Underweight Budgies
i would mix a very high concentration of both, possibly even give them a container of each seperately. normally we worry about concentrations of food when we do not want our budgies to get too fat. In this case, a fattening up is needed. I say give them a small bowl on the bottom of the cage with sunflower seeds and another one with hulled oats. Give them planty of millet as well. When they are fattening up, you can reduce it, mix it with normal seed, but at the moment, the mix is nowhere as important as getting them to eat it.

New Birds
Peter Dodd was a recent judge at St George Branches annual show, it's 50th Anniversary show. Peter was invited specially to be a judge as he was a judge at the first show, some 50 years ago. He was very young then, only in his early to mid 20's I would say, but he has been involved in the hobby for over 50 years, so he has a very good knowledge and has, and is continuing to breed some very good birds.

Tweetaville Community
You could pattern after Dave and name them "Blue" and "Bluer"! If you were there and saw their behaviour in a show cage, you would well understand the names dumb and dumber. it is no coincidence that Kaz has their sister, whose name is Schitzo.

Breeding Pairs 2009
I will let them know they are uncles - What did you pair her to Kaz? Do you have a picture of her with her other half? What are you hoping to get from her and her partner?

Update On Len
You know Kaz, I have one of those, and I have never ever thought of using it. How dumb am I? In fact, I might have 2. Very silly indeed.

Breeding Pairs 2009
Well, the breeding cages are all set up, and the first 7 pairs will be going down tomorrow. So who will be in there? Well, it depends on a few things, but the first thing I will look at is who is moulting. I will not put a bird down that is currently stressed, so a few have been ruled out for the time being. It will also depend on hens and cocks and their stage of their cycle. Pair 1 might still happen - Caesar and Latte - dependant on Latte Pair 2 should be fine Pair 3 is good to go Pair 4 has changed - the Old Man is now paired to a different Lute, but they are both good to go Pair 5 is good to go Pairs 6 to 8 are out I think due to moulting Pairs 9 and 10 - one is good to go, I will have to check - i think one, maybe none Pairs 11 and 12 are good to go Pair 13 is out due to moulting Pair 14 are too young Pairs 15 and 16 I have to check on. We will see what happens.

Day 1 To Day 42.

New Birds
So you are in esence using the breeding cages for quarantine purposes? That makes total sense to me. You are blocking off their access to the nestboxes. You are keeping them isolated from your other birds. All you are really doing it putting together the birds you want in their own cages, so hopefully they will bond in this time.Makes sense to me. Do you have a spare aviary? as if you do, then all in and quarantining together is fine, if not, the best you can do might be what you have said.
