  1. Is it possible to trim a little bit off at a time, meaning that the beak will eventually correct itself?
  2. Pearce, how about a photo update? Any change with this little guy? Better? Worse? Unchanged? let us see?
  3. Dave_McMinn replied to Daz's topic in Jokes
They were very good Daz, i found myself laughing. the Ghandi one was the best!!!!!!!!!!
  4. I am with Kaz. It should not be back in the same nestbox from which it was attacked and ejected. Do you have any other breeding pairs? Just another questions, who was looking after your birds when you were on holidays? Did this happen before? DId you ask them?
  5. May I too offer my salutations at your enrolment in our technological-based Melopsittacus undulatus - loving community.
  6. I agree withe the first 2 NOT being spangles. Unlucky to get the first 2 as normals when you consider their parents. It will be interesting to see what the others turn out like.
  7. you have 3 birds, two cocks and one hen right? Might I suggest the first thing you do is buy another hen. Even numbers always work best.
  8. new pics Twitch moulting Sunshine Moulting Spikey Dumber Mix Shots Kestral and My split clearwing Caesar and then with friends Funny Sleeper Messy floor - I clean this eveyr week, but they are the worst house guests Grey hen
  9. Already planning possible changes, and it is not even erected yet -
  10. I have to do some tiling inside and I have never done it before so this might be a good chance to learn all the gear I need is already int he garage Just need some cheap tiles How long does it take tiles to set?
  11. very good blinds Kazzy. Saves some money. I need for year round use, so that is why i spent the money, and they came with the brackets.
  12. Took the barriers down today, a few more shots have been taken.
  13. Lest we forget.
  14. Looking very squishy in there at the moment Kaz. How is the building of that new aviary going?
  15. Sorry, I did not see the thread. I bought mine from Bunnings, and they were something like $120 each. price depends on the width.
  16. was not planing on tiling kaz, but now you have me thinking. It is not big enough, i do not think. I think that I might leave it as it is. i will vacuum up any dropped seed, no sweep, so tiling is not really necessary I suppose. i will think on it overnight. You bird room is massive ocmpared to mine. What are the dimmensions of yours again?
  17. The looks great Kaz. what colours are you thinking Dumb and Dumber's nieces will be? The oldest looks to opaline with that electric blue thing happening, but the young spangle does not look blue at this stage. Is she a little young or maybe she is another colour. What colour is Dad again?
  18. In each of my suggestions, it is the grey green speaking 1. La la la (think of that pig Babe - works best in this voice) 2. If I just stretch a bit more, yep, I am sure I'm taller, uh huh, positive, yep, no doubt 3. I can, I really can. Now, get a cracker, and put it on my beak, come on, I saw the dog do it, it looks easy. Quick, get a cracker!!!
  19. I am feeling it, the doing it all myself bit. I am so sore. I have covered the slab tonight. It will rain, and it will get wet, but the concrete guy who delivered it, and the receptionist I talked to at the company told me that it only takes 4 hours to set. I checked, and it is set, but I covered it anyway. The dogs are prevented from accessing it now. They can walk alongside, look at it, but cannot get to it. okay, so the next step is setting up the shed/aviary breeding room. If you remember, I bought an old aviary, rectangular, 3m x 2m x 1.8m I think the dimensions are. Now I can go through and set this up. May start tomorrow, if not Sunday. Body is so sore, and I have some papers to mark for school, so we will see.
  20. New slab was layed, though it is hard to do it properly due to the position of two fences. It is probably not as level or smooth as it could have been, but I am happy with how it turned out. It is the first time I have ever done this, so it is a very good experience. It is still drying, so the first pics still ahve lattice work seperating the dogs from the pavement. I have to go out in a minute, but I know I am going to come home and find that Mac & Tess have carved their names into the concrete slab -
  21. your sky blues are sky blue opaline spangles
  22. Yes, spinach can lower calcium absorption, but it is not as big a problem for a standard bird in a cage as it is for a breeding hen. The hen needs a lot of calcium to produce the eggs, specifically the shell. You have absolutely nothing to worry about by giving a single bird in a cage, even multiple birds in an aviary spinach.
  23. He is so cute Deb. Tess understands the collar thing
  24. can i give them 1.banana - I have never thought to give my birds banana. It does not seem like a natural part of their diet and I would be reluctant. 2.beetroot - mine love it,, but look terrible after it. I get fresh beetroot, cut them in half and put them on a skewer. they love it. Prepared for a shock first time you see them after they have had beetroot though, it truly looks like there has been a riot 3.lettuce - too high in water content. Not good for them as they will develop running poos 4.beetroot leaves - yes, they eat them all, but the leaves wilt rather quickly 5.apple or carrot - if you are giving apple, take out the core and seeds, then they will love it. carrot, i would grate it. 6.cabage.i was told that cabage was bad for them is that true - too high in water content as far as I can tell. 7.cucumber - I have heard of this being given, but I never have. I would not. 8.bokchoy - yes, they will love it 9.silver beet - yes, the will love it. 10.celery stalk and leaves - you can, but once more, it is veyr high in water content and there is little nutritional value. Celery is used more as a filler than anything else. 11.mango - how good is your budget - I would say no - eat this yourself 12.grapes - too high in water content - no nutritional value 13.corn - yes, they will love it - fresh corn on the cob. 14 . brocolli - mine love it, it is like budgie catnip for my aviary birds - especially my new clearwings - Nubbly 5- any thoughts? You have to remember that it might take them a while to try things, so if you put it in there, and no one eats it, do not give up on it. You need to try it for a month at least. Also remember fresh food does not last long, so by all means, let them try it, but you need to ensure you remove any veges before spoilage occurs. Spoiled veges have the potential for disease to fester.
  25. So you have multiple aviaries? Very good.
