Opaline Chicks?
I think all 4 are spangles and the 2nd one in is not opaline. The reason i say spangle without being able to see the tail pins is that the wing pattern is very similar to the others.

Breeding Pairs 2009
Looking good Dave. I like the one above best, I think she'll turn out pretty nice. Thanks Darryl, I like her too. I think she looks good now, so I am hoping that she will continue to grow into a good looking chick. Not a clear mantle so she will not win show awards, but as part of a breeding line she is very good. Well Dave, they are looking VERY good! :)I especially like the above chicks - WELL DONE on getting a DF White Spangle! You have beaten me to the count! Thanks Renee. I am pleased with how they have turned out. I now have 3 DF spangles, 3 hens and 1 cock, all white, with 3 the offsrping of Dumb and Dumber(RIP), who I bought from Hans in january. I paticularly like the green chicks, I think they are filling out into very nice birds.

My Pairs
You have not actually paired anything up. What would you like us to say?

Big Blue ( Aka Kd ) And Spice
See I knew there was a legring floating around somewhere -

Big Blue ( Aka Kd ) And Spice
Renee asked me today which of these two chicks had YOUR legring on it  But as we know Renee is too trusting ... Now now Renee, don't be too hard on yourself. That is a damn fine question, and the people have the right to know the answer. So which one is it Kaz, Frannie or Mac? Come on, don't keep the masses waiting. the doubt about whether one of them is mine has gone. Now the only question remains is which one is mine? Well? Which one? They both look great by the way Kaz.

How Long Before Newborn Is Feed
I think GB is right

Nice Pair
so you are gettinga bird to go with the cinnamon violet, will quarantine him for at least a month, if not more, then you will put them down to breed. Is this right? What is the new birds mutation?

Nice Pair
I was wondering why you were pairing this cock up with this hen. Normally a hen this good should go with your best bird.

Breeding Pairs 2009
lol maybe i should come with him for a holiday not sure I am up to entertaining at the moment :hap: like you could deal with me not is anyone?!?!?!?!?! besides i am not sure i would fit in the carry box  you could take yourself on as hand luggage. Not sure if it is cheaper for frieght if you travel in the same cage as the bird. Hmmmmmm. Anyway, I have taken some new Here they are: The offspring of Bruticus - grey normal/cinnamon/opaline bred by Cec Gearing, and my Albino hen, who must also be split opaline, carry violet, and but have no dark factors The offsrping of the the first clutch of the Dark Green Cock/opaline and his GreyGreen hen The parents of the above looking after their new eggs. Of the 5, only 2 eggs are fertile, I think. The SF and DF spangles are the offsrping of a DF spangle hen and Dumber (RIP) The grey opaline and the cinnamon wing grey are from the second clutch of Earl (grey opaline/cinnamon) and Latte (grey opaline) Finally the sole offspring from the 2nd clutch of Kiwi and Twitch

Thinking Of Getting A New Bird.
Add in even numbers and that will save squabbles. Buy the 2 new birds from the same breeder or place, and quarantine them together. I remember the issues you had with quarantine last time, it is really important now so do not forsake it.

How Are They Split?
I find the genetic calculator found at the following link is good. 1.0 is male and 0.1 is female. All birds are normal greens unless boxes are ticked to indicate they are not. Budgerigar Genetic Calculator Even if you know the answer, try to put the question of "what am I?" up on this board. Some of us love trying to figure them out

What Time Of The Year Do Most Breeders Have Babies?
Lucky you explained what you meant by the thread heading, as before I read your post, I was about to type... "I prefer to breed all year round. I find that there are benefits to....................."

Nice Pair
The blow on the hen looks fantastic, even better than the cocks, and that is unusual. Is he your best cock? Is he currently coming to the end of a moult, or even in the middle? You can see some pin feathers in that photo.
-
Funny Pied
I suppose the next step is to put him down to breed.
-
Big Blue ( Aka Kd ) And Spice
You are beginning to sound as skeptical as other members of this forum.

Funny Pied
Well done on the results. Way to go Renee for asking the question -

Red-eyed Babies
I think the cock is split ino, so you probably have 3 hens if they all have red eyes. The green cock - is he just not a light green normal?
-
What Mutation Are They?
In the fist set of picture, the dom pied seems to be an olive green dommie pied. In the second set of pics, the green bird does not appear to be a pied. I would say that it is either a heavily marked clearwing or it is a grey wing. I am thinking clearwing. I do not think it is a pied. Maybe a stomach shot would prove otherwise.

9-5... ( Ish )
I am a High School Teacher. I teach Years 7-12, that is ages 11-18. My main area of teaching is Information Technology. Everything from Web Page Design, Video editing, Flash, Hardware and Software, Communications and Databases, to name a few topics. I am also the Year 7 Coordinator at the Catholic Boys College where I teach. This means I am in charge of 150 boys aged somewhere between 11-13. This means their welfare is my main concern. I deal with everything from bullying to adolescent issues such as puberty and maturity, special learning needs such as dyslexia, anxiety or ADHD, to behaviour or emotional issues, to gifted and talented students. As a teacher, and a year coordinator, you tend to need to be a bit of a jack of all trades. Patience is a key component in my life. With year 7, I spend a lot of time interacting with parents. Now, as for some of you who are thinking that teachers only work 9-3, and this thread is about 9-5 work, let me state I work from about 7:30-5 at school everyday, and then I am usually doing other work through the night. As for holidays, the beginning of January is probably the only time when you are not doing preparation or marking. Even as I type this, it is as I am taking a break from reading 150 student reports. I have to write a comment on each one. Teaching is not a job for everybody, but it is one I love. If you love holidays, then teaching is not the job for you. If you love holidays, try winning the lottery. The kids will kill you in week 1 if you are hanging out only for the holidays.

Big Blue ( Aka Kd ) And Spice

Breeding Has Started.
After a slow start, things seem to be coming along very well for you and your birds Deb. I am pleased to see this.
