Breeding Early 2008.... With Updates
Another cold day in here sydney, so it is hard to tell how the hatchlings are going. this is mainly due to protective mothers. Milly and Humphrey have 2 as best as I can tell. Milly is a docile mother, she will sit on her young and eggs maintaining their warmth regardless of knocking on a nestbox or strange faces appearing. Sebby and Cheese have 3 - this I am sure of as when i knock, Sebby scurries out of the nest box and lets me look in. She is the only one that moves. Angel and Hugo look to have stopped at 6 eggs. Angel is a very protective mother, not only does she not leave with polite tapping, or any tapping really, she will squawk like mad and will look to nibble on your finger if you get too close. Tralia and Nibbler have 3, maybe 4 eggs. Tralia is sitting on the eggs well. She is very protective and has stopped being so flighty. She hardly appears to leave the enst box now. She has learnt bad habits as well. Tralia is the daughter of Angel, and her temperament is like her mother. She is a squawker and will bite if given half a chance - (Laughing out loud). Nibbler is the son of milly, but his temperament does not come from his mother, bu then his father was also calm. Must be an expectant Dad thing.

Breeding Early 2008.... With Updates
sounds like everything is going well,Dave. i would be happy to help out if you need somewhere for your young to live.i have a new aviary that needs filling. :hap: Hi Deb, I am quite willing to give some away to good homes. I would rather give them to good homes rather than sell them to pet shops. When more hatch, I will let you know what we have, and then we will see. I will keep your offer in mind. Cold day here in Sydney, so when i checked on the little ones, I could not see any as Milly and Sebby were both spread out over the eggs and checks keeping them warm. Good mums.

Breeding Early 2008.... With Updates
Congrast Ikon. It really is bubby budgie central at the moment. Which is good. I need to decide what to so with some of the young though. I am not going to keep them all. Sell some, and possibly give away a few. Depends on the colours. part of me is hoping that Sebby has laid some dud eggs - (Laughing out loud)

Breeding Early 2008.... With Updates
I was mistaken on the last update as Milly must have been keeping one of her little ones warm. one egg was indeed missing, but that egg had hatched, Milly was sitting with the little one tucked underneath so it was warm. So it stands at milly and humprhey - 2 young, 3 unhatched eggs sebby and cheese - 2 young, 6 unhatched eggs angel and hugo - 6 unhatched eggs tralia and nibbler - 3 unhatched eggs All is going well

New Additions
I think you are right with your comments Kaz. I look at my aviary now and I definitely do like the show type birds mroe than the pet types. I have decided that after Sebby and Cheese have this clutch, then there will be no more breeding of pet type budgies. As for the bigger aviary, whilst i would love to, not possible due to council regulations. Might need to move house. Hmmmmm.... not a bad idea. I will keep you posted.

They are hilarious. hail did nto worry them, in fact, they thrived. As for the sending of the rain, perhaps you should be asking mackay and Rockhampton residents

Woo-hoo! It's Raining
Today we had a massive thunderstorm, rain, hail, thunder, lighting, the works. I love storms, so do my birds. To that extent, I tried to get some pics of them enjoying the rain. During the storm, the rainbow appeared. Scramble for some to try to get wet Result - some soaked birds Peggy Independence Venus - hiding at the back

Breeding Early 2008.... With Updates
okay, new update with pics included. Sebby and Cheese now have 2 bubs. they are working 100% so far. They are so little, pet budgies breeding, damn my soft heart!!!!!! Milly and Humphrey have their first. They had much bigger eggs, so I expect a bigg bird. Humprhey is strutting like I have never seen strut before - funny old fellow is Humprhey. Just noticed that one of Milly's eggs cannot be seen in the photo. She might be sitting on that one. not sure. She has never eaten one, and it is not on the cage floor. I would say she is giving one extra attention. I was unsure if Hugo and Angel would work well together, but I am so pleased I paired them now. Angel is very aggressive, protective mother, so I was unable to get a shot. Good news is that she has 6 eggs, and they are all fairly large, like Milly's. hope they get Dad's size, and his sweet temperament - (Laughing out loud). Tralia and Hugo now seem to have they hang of this egg thing. They now have 3 eggs, as canbe seen in this blurry picture. Sorry, try better next time.

Age And Sex Please
What exactly does this mean? Everyone skimmed over this. do you mean that budgies do not need to be quarantined?

Hello!
Welcome to the forum. Your pied looks very cute, however it is hard to tell if it is recessive or dominant at the moment. Though an early guess of recessive has my money. Would love to see some better photos of Frodo.

Breeding Early 2008.... With Updates
You know, that is not a bad idea, not the budgie ****, but the webcam. part of me thinks that is great. I could do that. Anyway, that is for another day as there is even better news. I did a check of the nest boxes when I came home. Sebby and Cheese have 8 eggs with the first is due to hatch Sunday 24th February. This is all she will lay, so it is a waiting game now. Milly and Humprhey have 5 eggs with the first is due to hatch Sunday 24th February. This is all she will lay, so it is a waiting game now. Angel and Hugo have 4 eggs with the first due to hatch on 10th March. Angel may lay more eggs, so we will see what happens here. Tralia and Nibbler have their first egg - woohoo - layed today. I am so excited. This is such great news. I am so pleased. 24 days from now is the 16th march, so here's hoping all is good, with many more eggs to be layed from this pair.
