  1. impossible to say. I have never heard of the tree you are talking about. Can you get a picture? Where did you get that name from? Not an "australian" sounding name. get the picture and we will go from there. maybe you have simply identified the tree incorrectly
  2. There is nothing wrong with liking pretty birds. As for people who show budgies not liking you, I think that is rubbish. I am yet to show a bird, so I suppose according toy our theory, I can still like you What some people find "pretty" others do not. For a long time, I though blue and green budgies were so boring, but now I think they are wonderful. I find them amazing to look at. Everyone is different and out opinions can change all the time.
  3. Thanks for the quick edit Daz
  4. Some lovely birds in there Are you trying to breed greys? Any reason why? Sometimes I think I might have too many - LOL
  5. You are right, as the thread was started in 2006. Since the site is no longer up, mods might have to adjust this one
  6. There are different types of white budgies, so depending onthe type, it will depend upon cere colour, and eye colour. Albino - these are what most people think about when they talk about white budgies. You can tell these easily as these white budgies have red eyes. The females are easy to tell as they will develop a brown cere when they are ready to breed (the young will develop a brown cere but do not let them breed unless they are over a year old - despite cere colour). Males do not have the traditional blue cere, instead they have a pinkish smooth cere. Double factor blue spangles - when two blue spangles are paired together, they may produce a double factor spangle. This is a white looking bird with black eyes. The female will develop a brown when she is ready to breed whilst the male will have a blue cere, that will go brighter and deeper when he is ready to breed. Black-eyed clear - I do not know too much about this variation, but as I understand it is the result of breeding a recessive pied with something else. Someone else will explain better later. They will develop much like the double factor spangle above. Remember, all young birds will not have a "determined" cere colour. Young or out of season hens will have white with blue, and this can be confusing.

    welcome to the forum
  8. i agree with the doxy treatment renee. I think it is a good thing you are doing. I have seen Renee's setup, and there is no reason why birds in her main aviary are getting sick. Good luck with the treatment program and I hope it all works out for you Renee.
  9. why a 5th? It is always better to have even numbers, and even numbers of hens and cocks at that. What is your cage like? Cage or aviary? If cage, do they get flight time outside of the cage? Welcome by the way. We all look forward to seeing pics.
  10. Both birds at Yelloface blues. The male is an opaline Sky Blue Yellow face dominant pied spangle the female is a mauve yellow face spangle As for their young, the totally white baby is a double factor spangle. It would also be a DF yellow face, so whilst it looks white, it really has two yellow genes that cancel each other out, the pastel coloured baby woudl again be a double factor spangle, but this one would have a suffusion of yellow through the yellow face, or it may actually be a creamino, as in a yellow faced albino. Does it have red eyes? If Dad was split to ino, then the young one could be a creamino and it would be a hen. The others are not clearwings, but rather poorly marked spangles.
  11. I hear the Jo Mannes line is in great demand. Anyone know the breeder Chidell in Sydney? Not sure that is the way it is spelt
  12. Some nice birds in there Shannon. I am guessing a few have been going through a bit moult. Few tails and the like missing.
  13. Just turn the camera around Dave. Great Photos, good looking birds. You've done well. It's been a great read for me too. LOL - thanks mate. I thought of showing him upside down I am glad it has been a great read for you. The first ever thread I truly followed on here was yours about building your new aviary. I used to log on every day and hope there was another installment. In fact, I lay some of the blame for me getting hooked on budgies solely on that thread- I cannot wait for breeding season. I would love your feedback when I work out my pairs.
  14. Cool. Do you breed them to another particular line of birds?
  15. Shannon, it seems you get new birds ever second day on here. how do you manage to quarantine them all safely? I know for me, it was a nightmare.
  16. I already have one aviary and i am building the breeding room, so no more room for another aviary. no buckling here!!!
  17. thanks yes, they all seem really good. It will be a while before they can stretch their wings though. Feel sorry for them, but rules are rules, especially when it comes to quarantine.
  18. All great ideas, I would go for Gentle or something like Serenity.
  19. Last pics so now they have all been photographed. my two lutinos - one is a Cec Gearing bird whose brother finished 4th at the Nationals so some very good bloodlines and the other is from Libby. My best opaline green boy is split Lutino so it should pair well with the Cec Gearing bird later on. A clearer picture of my 3 month old grey green spangle I purchased off Cec Gearing The Gearing Lutino is a bit fuzzy in the picture, but it does give you a good idea of her shape, plus you see the 2 clearwings in the background, plus the grey green opaline I purchased from Cec. Finally a picture of Dumb and Dumber together. I realised I had not included a picture of the boys together. So there we have it - all birds photographed
  20. jester - you fool!!!!!!!!
  21. A few more pics Lutino chick from Renee Sky Blue Opaline Hen from Libby Twitch - a green Henry George bird from Fran - named twitch as he has a little heart attack type thing when he is caught by a net I still have to get pics of my Cec Gearing Lutino Hen whose brother came 4th at the Nationals Comments are most welcome
  22. Now I am not sure I got everyone in the pics, so i will go take some more in a few minutes. I will try to explain all the birds. Some are not the best pics and they would look better in a show cage, but until i get some, this is all I have. This is a group of boys. The grey cinnamon wing is a Henry George bird, as is the sky blue cinnamon wing, there is a grey opaline I know little about, a Fran McLaughlin Grey Green and a green Dominant pied from Kaz Henry George birds from Fran McLaughlin The grey is a Cec Gearing 08 cock who Cec told me has excellent bloodlines, the grey green cinnamon wing is from Hans Sibum,he was a gift. An 04 bird but a very good father. The grey bird furthest away is split clearwing from Gina House grey split clearwing The old man looks a bit ruffled in this picture. Like I said, the pics do not do them justice The blue bird at the front there is my best looking bird. He is a Cec Gearing 07 Sky blue cock. majestic bird The Cinnamon Wing Light Green Hen came from Hans and the Grey Green hen from Cec Gearing This clearwing is one of 2 very similar clearwings I got from Gina House and the lutino I got from our own Libby That is either dumb or dumber on the left and the sky blue cinnamon boy on the right has a good boofy head but is a bit stumpy. Once more either Dumb or Dumber. I got them from Hans. Not the biggest birds, but great length Green opaline cock I purchased off Hans. He is an amazing colour and has a very good clear V Cec Gearing bred grey green opaline spangle. She is only 3 months old. Her brother is brilliant. Good genes - sorry about the dark picture, i will try to get another one tomorrow Grey Green Spangle Cock from Fran Jester from Hans, Grey from ?, Green opaline from ? and the green opaline spangle (cinnamon) from Kaz
  23. i had issues before the flight the flight was good actually - when i got off both flights - to perth and from perth - I had no back pain or soreness This is just me, twisted and maimed
  24. Really? WOW, I know my avian vet asked me why I wanted it and he was more than happy to sell me some Gald to hear it is only a sprain. Should be fine in a couple of days You did the right thing taking you bird to the vet - well done. So you know, my travel cage was probably about 50 cm long, 45cm wide and 20 cm deep, so it was big. There is a picture of the box here and later on in that post, a few pages on, you can see the box in relation to the size of the birds
  25. The batteries are charging. As for me relaxing, I had my own X-rays and specialist appointments last night and today thank you. No relaxing, I was being jabbed and poked and the like. Not enjoyable at all. Dave
