Avairy Full Of Dead Budgies
Thanks but I did what anyone else here would have done. Anyway been talking to the owners and they due to get the budgies back at the end of the week (estimation by the RSPCA when the paperwork is sorted). They setting up a big cage for them indoors where they can keep an eye on them. I've been round their house for a coffee they are such lovely people but you can see the devastation etched on their face. And the young boy Andrew is not dealing to well with the loss of his teil, he is only 10 poor little man. The owners Jess and Paul are pretty upset and said they might just get rid of the avairy and not have alot of birds again I suggested maybe they wait and see how they feel when they have come to terms with the loss. I just feel so sorry for them and there is not a strong enough word for the anger I feel at the person responsible At least two survived I guess and they are doing really well I hear.

Avairy Full Of Dead Budgies
Yeah I have talked to them on the phone my friend gave them my number (asked me first tho). They were glad that at least 2 of the birds didnt meet the same fate as the others. They just wanted to say thanks but were still a bit too much in shock to say much. Their little boy was just devastated. I just felt so bad about the teil I didnt even think that there would be a bird inside. I dont understand how an agency could be so irresponsible, alot of suffering for the birds, the boy is emotionally suffering and the owners lost alot of birds they loved. I can't even begin to imagine how they feel, I know how sick I felt when I found them and they werent even my birds. With the budgies once the RSPCA has finalised who they are charging they should be able to have them back everything involves paperwork. Hope they sue that agency for everything they have stupid irresponsibl mongrels

Avairy Full Of Dead Budgies
Well the owners came back today, your psychic Turbs :ausb: . Anyways there was a lot of commotion apparently Ive got all this second hand from my friend whose the neighbour. Anyway they got home the RSPCA had managed to contact them. Apparently they did hire a birdsitter a paid one with strict written instructions. Obviously not carried out cause the birds are dead. Thats not all the poor owners have lost $3000 in show birds there was shows in that avairy with the normals I did see the difference in sizes when I was in there. My friend says her neighbours are going to sue the sitter she was from a company but the worst bit is they have a young boy and the sitter didnt look after his handraised cockateil it was dead in the cage inside also he is absolutely devastated. My friend says that they are kicking themselves for not getting someone they knew to do it they thought a company would be the best way to go. They have apparently got in contact with the vet and are paying for his services. Not so bad after all these poor people paid someone to look after their birds and they didnt do it. I hope that sitter gets hit hard (i cant say what I want to cause it swearing) and the company needs to review their employee screening I think.

Strange Sleeping Mode
Yeah my boy chip sleeps ontop of his swing too looks uncomfortable but then I'm not a bird. I think its just that its the highest perching place in the cage

Avairy Full Of Dead Budgies
Yeah I think the owners will have to pay him for his services even if the birds are not returned to them which I think is highly unlikely they will get them back. My friend the normal vet said that the fines sometimes include the vets fees so that the vet who provided the care is reimbursed. Dont worry I tried to get him to give me the bill since I was the one that brought the birds to him on a weekend no less. He wouldnt have it told me my money was no good, with a big grin on his face. I love him and Ive known him for all of 2 days, absolutely fab person. Anyway he reckons he will keep the birds so why should I pay, so I gave up. The people you meet in a crisis never ceases to amaze me :angel1:

Avairy Full Of Dead Budgies
As far as I know the vet is allowed to refuse to allow the budgies back to the owners if he thinks they are neglectful. I do not think RSPCA will be letting them have them back they are pretty mad about the whole thing they reckon on the evidence that it was neglect. I would take the budgies if they needed rehoming and someone who could afford the vet bills. However the avian vet thinks there great, he fell in love with them reckons they the strongest little birds ever. And what better owner then an avian vet if they have any more health problems. Turbs they are a male and female. The male is a cobalt blue colour and the female is a yellow spangle( i think looks like mine without the green tinge), and they normal pet budgies. I have been to see them they don't even look like the same birds, I think even their feathers look brighter. They still look a bit rough but hey they nearly died.

Avairy Full Of Dead Budgies
Well thank goodness for the avian vet. The two survivors have pulled up well. After crop needling food at first I have been told that they are now starting to feed themselves. Although the vet is going to keep them for a while until they are in good condition again ( at a decent weight, and eating well). Basically they were suffering malnutrition and dehydrated, and hopefully there will be no related health problems. He has even mentioned that he may keep them depending on what goes on with the previous owners. Lucky birdies if they go home with him, best medical benefits ever. Still no word on the owners and what happened. I am thinking as you said Feathers that perhaps the person looking after the house believed the bird tray had plenty of seed left. If so I do feel sorry for them as they will be mortified to know they are responsible for the death of those birds. Anyway I am now much happier at least out of all that horror two budgies survived and are in the best hands ever

Avairy Full Of Dead Budgies
Yeah I meant no-one is in the house at the moment so they are somewhere and someone has been collecting their mail every few days. Also I have been told that the birds are rehydrated to an acceptable level and that if they survive overnight and take food they should survive. Fingers crossed.

Avairy Full Of Dead Budgies
Yeah that been looked into no one was there that was what I was wondering after I got the birds. But its been confirmed that the house is vacant. I'm not willing to blame anyone I dont know the full story yet so I will leave my judgement of the owners till then. Its whoever is responsible that I am mad at. I'm also a little more calm now, I was still a bit emotional when I got on here

Avairy Full Of Dead Budgies
Well nobody knows when the owners left now there was talk that it was thursday but another neighbour believes it was earlier then this said the car in driveway was not the neighbours car on the thursday. I know the seed tray looked empty just husks the water trays were dry. If there was a bird sitter they didnt replace the seed the trays are large. Judging by the avairy I just cant believe that they would not have a bird sitter so someone has heaps of explaining to do. I was alos under the impression they could survive a week without water. The vet reckons that it would be touch and go for a while but they seem to be responding well to treatment. the vet is such an angel :angel1: no wonder my vet refers her bird patients to him. And I have been advised to keep my mouth shut about where when who and others involved due to legal things, this I will do I imagine I'm going to be in enough trouble. My friend is beating herself up about it, I told her im just nosey thats why I checked thank goodness I did. The body count is 53 budgies in avairy plus 1 at the vets, may they all go to heaven. Thats all for now but I will be keping you all updated on the two survivors keep praying for them please Thanks everyone Kerrie

Avairy Full Of Dead Budgies
Yeah Turbs thats what the vet is worried about with them he said the complications from the effects of dehydration is the biggest threat he said their kidneys could fail and then their finished. I know they are on fluids but I cant imagine they would be up to food but I havent asked either. Oh god you should of felt how light they were I wouldnt of knowing I was holding them if I wasnt looking at them. One of them looked at me I swear with such misery and pain. I will never get it out of my head. Yeah the RSPCA is looking them up, I then may be in trouble if the owners want to gt nasty which I imagine they will and decide to press charges of trespassing and stealing against me. The RSPCA are allowed to enter peoples property to rescue animals I however am not. We think they have only been gone since thursday but not sure. Its the condition of the avairy thats got me baffled it was so clean and well set up obviously cost a bit, surely the wouldnt of just left their birds to die if theyd made an effort to look after it.

Avairy Full Of Dead Budgies
Well on the phone to my vet (whos my friend) whose with the avian vet. She says that he reckons that the last two are strong and fighting hard. But to be prepared for the worst as they are in very bad shape. I just hope they make it. The RSPCA are doing what they do and I am sitting here talking to you guys cause I dont know wot else to do. It has just ruined my day its only 10.30 in the morning here. Why cant peole look after their pets I just dont get it. I mean why would you get a pet if you dont want it. I spent $1000 in vet expenses for Guess (that was her name)a budgie I bought the other half for his birthday. She was only 7 when she died she had heart problems and atendencey to overeat. I also had a birdy autopsy done and the vet reckoned look like she died of a heart attack poor thing. That cost me alot of $ but I needed to know if I had missed something and it was my fault or not. I still feel guilty I miss her alot. She was grumpy but funny. But just leaving birds in an avairy to die, Why?

Avairy Full Of Dead Budgies
Thankyou Turbs. Yeah ones dead too far gone. At the present time its dehydration they will do a cant remember what they called it but going to do some further tests on the other birds to see if anything else is to blame. Yeah the RSPCA is involved now and I may be in trouble for taking the birds and trespassing they trying to avoid that but it might happen I dont care this ***** unbelievable.

Avairy Full Of Dead Budgies

Avairy Full Of Dead Budgies
I am just mortified I havent stopped crying. This all just happened in the last 30 minutes quickly popped round to my friends house who has some budgies. Anyway she mentioned that the aviary next door had been quiet lately and wondered if next door had gotten rid of their birds. I popped my head over the fence and noticed some birds appeared to be lying on the ground. So I went round to knock at their front door not knowing what I was going to say. Shouldnt of worried no one was home. Went into their backyard I know tresspassing and nearly fell over seeing the whole avairy floor covered with dead budgies must of been 50 of them I found 3 barely alive grabbed them and took them to my local vet who has an avian vet she knows. I have talked just then on the phone to her it doesnt look good. My friend has since said that she found out that next door just left for holidays a couple of days ago whether they had got someone to look after the birds or not I dont know but all water trays are dry and was no fresh seed. My friends going to talk to th RSPCA but I just don't know how this could happen. The avairy was in immaculate condition it appeared they had been cared for. If they did get someone what are they gonna think when they get back. I'm just devastated I feel like being sick I really do I nearly did vomit when I got home so many poor little things died of thirst and hunger and you know how hot it has been in Perth

Well thankyou so much for that Nerwen. Yes the normal green is what is doing my head in I didnt think that could happen. His tail is exact same as dads really dark indigo, except for one of his/her siblings been chewing on it
