  1. Cheeta, I saw some budgies today that you might like - to increase your flock and fill that HUGE aviary. The shop down the road from me has 3 fallows - all female I think... didn't have a close look. Feathers.
  2. Curry and Laila adopted him Kaz, I love them all, especially Baby one and Mammoth, she's so pretty. She just reminded me to tell Cheeta abot some budgies I saw today... Feathers [runs off to Cheeta's aviary post]
  3. I'm green, Cheeta. It's a great aviary.. I assume you got all the toys too. I loved the wheel. Feathers.

  5. Great pics, Riebie. I just organised a budgie room too, will be used for a holding cage for exhibition budgies and a breeding room. Feathers.

  7. She is really beautiful. Feathers.
  8. Well, you certainly have the forum buzzing. In my opinion it is a gorgeous budgie Anyone doubt that?? Feathers.
  9. Hi, like you I was in awe of all the great info posted on this site and it is a great place to visit on the net. Loved your flock pics. Feathers.
  10. Hi there. Love them all, especially the first bird, a male yellow face recessive pied, very unusual. I wont comment on the types, I am positive a couple of other members will do that for me. I also love your 5th bird, another recessive pied... it looks exactly like Zanthie, one of my first budgies. I'm sure you will love it here. Feathers.
  11. Here's another couple of cute pics: Beau - looking like butter wouldn't melt in his mouth Keely the curious Oh-oh - just cause he's pretty Chik'n (RIP) with Jacquie - and below with Pascale Chik'n again - peek-a-boo under covers in bed. Mmmm - Thanks for the peppermint 4mnth old 'toy boy' Oh-oh flirting with Keely Feathers.
  12. Wait until you see the aviaries and all the work involved before volunteering, Nathan... trust me. It's a LOT of work.
  13. Hi Guys, I'm lazy, so I'll just grab the ones already on Photobucket. Zanthie Keely spreading her wings Tealah - I think the green normals look amazing in flight - so pretty Beau Kyan Poor Adelene with all her missing flights She tries so hard Oh-oh - about to take off And of course - Jacquie's flight picture of Zanthie Now for something different A Maccaw in Singapore's Jurong Bird Park flies through a hoop held by one of my little gymnasts. Juvenile crimson Rosella A rainbow Lorikeet And my absolute favourite - a young Sulphur Crested Cockatoo Feathers.
  14. :budgiedance: No, poor "little" baby. I hope he is okay in with Curry and Laila. Feathers.
  15. Hi Dave, Garages are a common solution that is used. Please beware of exhaust fumes though. They will kill a budgie quickly and baby budgies even quicker. My solution is a second aviary, under my patio, with the breeder cages in there. Feathers.
  16. Hi Neat, I had the same problem. I overcame it by using chain link held to the top by washers and a pot rivet.. you can see in this picture what I mean. Feathers

Looks very male to me too Feathers.
  18. I love them all, but must admit to be a bit fuzzy chop biased. Mammoth is huge. I had a cuddle yesterday and I would never have guessed how young he was by the size of him. Feathers
  19. I have too many that I adore, but of the pics I have posted, this is a favourite as it was taken by my 14 yr old daughter, Jacquie. She was just sooo happy that she managed a flight shot, and it was a beaut! Feathers

I have a sneaking suspicion that a hen plucked baby I once had MAY have been plucked by the mum because it had a bad heart. Perhaps instinct lets them know they won't survive so they need to rid the nest of them? Please keep in mind this is just a theory I had regarding THAT particular baby budgie. It did lives for a few months, with care, before nature called it back to her. Feathers.
  21. Hiya Neat, no, not all branches can be used. I'm not sure if it has been posted in this forum yet but there is a fairly extensive list here: http://www.plannedparrothood.com/plants.html Feathers.
  22. [sob] I am gonna cry.... I felt momentarily special coz Kazz chose my names Feathers.
  23. Gently cupping your hands around them, so your thumb and forefinger nearly meet and then letting them 'tunnel' from one hand to the other, over and over, can calm them fairly quickly if you need to handle them. This also has the advantage of teaching them that your hands are not such scary things. Having a lot of birds now, I need to be able to handle different birds all the time and obviously they are not all tame, but they all accept this method and are all okay with being handled. I only very occassionally now get a bitchty hen who tries to have a bite. But then, my daughter and I have been accused of being "budgies whisperers" Feathers.
  24. I concur with all the above, he sure is a handsome little devil. Feathers.
  25. I think we need a better shot of the cere If the bird is only around 12 months old, then I reserve a right of reply as that would be different... a few hens have not changed cere colours by then. Feathers
