  1. My budgie Sammi won't even go near my shoulder but he always goes on my finger.
  2. Hi My budgie Sammi is a really bad biter. I have tried many ways of stopping him to bite like using a squirty bottle, pushing into his beak when he bites me and more, but none of them have worked. Just today, I was trying jus with my finger and I decided to wrap some plastic wrap around my finger so if he bit me he would taste plastic and stop. Amazingly I found that he didn't bite me at all. I'm not sure why it worked but it did. So I took the plastic off and still he didn't bite me. Anyway, its just an experimental thing so I hope it will come in handy for anyone else with a biting budgie.

Hi lovey; There's 2 1/2 cm to the inch. Sammi.
  6. Hi; I had Sammi out of his cage today and he was GREAT!. We did it in the bathroom because it's not cluttered and messy like my room. I remembered to put the toilet seat cover down first so he didn't have an accidental swim.....(Laughing out loud)..... He didn't fly around silly or anything. He loves his cage and it took a bit of patience to get him to come out and when he did he just climbed around on the top of the cage. He got back onto my hand easily so I just held it in the cage doorway and let him decide what to do. He waited a few minutes then flew to his perch. I think it really helped having Tracy in the other half of the cage. I'll take him out again this evening and hopefully I'll remember to take a photo. Bye..... Sammi.
  7. Hi everybody; Here's 2 photos of Frosts back. Her back looks grey to me. I don't know how old Frost is but the pet shop lady thought that she was about 12 months old. This is off topic too but on thursday night this Willie Wagtail nest fell off the shed rafter and onto the concrete floor. Dad found it and the babys were really cold so I had to warm them up in my hands while dad tied the nest back up to the rafter. There were three babys but one died. The mother didn't come back to the nest for hours so dad put a heater on in the shed to keep these two warm until she did. They're really cute. Sammi.
  8. Thanks very much for your help everybody. As far as I can tell Frost and Missy don't have Iris rings. Lee has a yellow patch on the back of his head. I've put a picture of Lee's back in. Will it be good if these rwo breed? They seem to be very fond of each other. I wish Frost was as quiet as Chase but we got her when she was a bit older and she's really scared of hands from the pet shop lady being a bit rough with her. Thanks again everybody.
  9. Lee is actually light green not dark green it just looks like that nyos.
  10. Hi; I've got some budgies that I've had for a while and I don't know what mutations they have. Lee Frost. She has a pink band on her leg. (?) Missy and Xavier This is Xavier's back Missy and Xavier are bonded and so are Lee and Frost. We've put 2 nesting boxes in the aviary in hope that they will breed. Thanks, Sammi
  11. Hi I am sort of quarantining him. What I have is I have a small cage that has a separator. I actually have 2 birds. They are both very young. I have them both in the cage but with the separator. Before I bought them both Sammi and my other bird are from the same aviary section in the shop. I dont have his wings clipped but I have a very small room (my bedroom) to let him out in. Is it okay that I have my 2 birds so close to each other and should I have soft things on the floor in case they have crash landings? Thanks Sammi
  12. Hi Last Sunday I got a new budgie. He is 3 months old and fairly tame. Sammi can sit on my finger and I can pat him and he wont bite, but I dont know if I can take him out of his cage yet. He's only been in it for 3 days. Should I wait until he's used to the cage before I take him out? Thanks in advance, Sammi

  15. Hi; I'm 11 years old and I am a new budgie keeper. My dad just bought me 2 young Budgies and I would like some help working out what sort they are. I've only had them for 1 day and they already sit on my finger with a tiny bit of encouragement. I've spent most of today reading stuff in your forums and have learned heaps. One thing I haven't learnt is what mutations Tracey and Sammi have. From your forums I know that Tracey is a girl and Sammi is a boy and that they are probably between 8 and 12 weeks old. Thanks for any help you might be able to give me. Here are some photos. Tracey (closest) and Sammi Tracey yawning Sammi on my finger Sammi Thanks. Sammi.
