The only Recessive Pieds I have don't have any head bars on their head, only around their eyes. Here is what I mean.

Here is a picture of Sammi guarding Tracey's nest. Like the nest? It's a hollow log. Terrific.

I have recently noticed that one of my budgies has a green patch where his bars are. Does this mean he is a Dominant Pied? I was told he is a cobalt yellowface 2. Here is a picture of him. He is the one on the left. (not a great picture, but you can just see the green on his bars.) thanks in advance. Sammi.

I haven't posted for a while, so, an update: I believe 3 of the 5 eggs hatched. They are all covered in down and are very cute. I've noticed, Tracey has almost totally white wings, and I'm pretty sure the second eldest is like her, but the eldest has yellow wings like Sammi. The youngest I haven't been able to see recently, it's always under the other two :dbb1: . I'm pretty sure I've got 2 males and 1 female. They are all so cute, I don't think I could ever part with them, but my dad says we have to sell 2 and keep only 1. CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT?!?! I think he's crazy. I was also wondering, how do you tell if your babies are spangle? Thanks for the help. :ausb:

I use scoubies too. I have a big box of them. The only problem I find with them is that you have to use big beads and I can't find any.

So far there are 4 babies. The oldest one looks to be getting his/her first feathers, but you can only just see little bits sticking out of his skin. I am very happy with the way that Tracey is being such a great mum. Sammi is also being a great dad. The last one should hatch tomorrow. It is actually quite an achievement for me. It is my first ever clutch of eggs, but its also Tracey's first. Its an achievement for both of us.

So why do you feed them budgie eggs, not just chicken eggs? Is it better for them?

Kaz, she has no nest box, no other eggs, she does have a partner but they have only been together for 2 days. We think she might actually have the egg from another male because we only got her on Sunday, at the markets. We didn't quarantine her because 1. My dad didn't want to and 2. there was no sign of disease in the cage she is from. After I made this topic, we decided to put her in the aviary where there are 2 more nest boxes, in case she did mate with the male we had her with, and there were more eggs on the way. Is this okay??

Two days ago Tracey's first egg hatched. Today another one hatched and they are SOOOOOOOOOO cute!! The first one is about 3 times as big as the 2nd, and there are still 3 more to come!!! OOH CUTE LITTLE JELLY BEANS!!! So far every time I have checked, there have been full crops all around and they are all looking TERRIFIC (and cute). For a first time (quite young) mother, Tracey is a very caring budgie! I'm very proud of her! (And the CUTE little budgie babies!) Oh and what types of mutations will I get from these 2? Sammi: blue YF2 Tracey: Violet YF2 spangle P.S. Sorry no photos, cant get any decent ones, the nesting box doesn't have an extra opening for us. OOH CUTE BABIES!!!!!!!!!

Just a minute ago I was bringing my caged budgies inside for the night when I saw an egg in the bottom of one of the cages. The female wasn't sitting on it so I brought it inside. I have put it in a box on a towel with a lamp over it. I don't know what to do now. I NEED SOME HELP!!!!!!! PLEASE!!!!

Nerwen, the male with the lutino is definitely YF 2 because he has cobalt blue under his wings and a tiny bit on his front. Also, I didn't get any confirmation about the females but I'm pretty sure thats what they are. I'm almost definitely sure about the lutino because she has the white cheek patches. I did get confirmation about the males.

Hi Recently I have read about recessive pieds having pink ceres only when they are male. I have some recessive pieds and they have pink ceres but I was told they were definitely girls. Here are some pics of their ceres. Any info would be helpful because we got them with two other males and they said they were pairs. I AM CONFUSED!! They are about 2 years old.

GOOD NEWS!!! I have EGGS!!!! Ooooh I am so excited! Just a few minutes ago I went to check to see if Tracey had any eggs in her nesting box and guess what??? SHE DID!! 5 beautiful tiny white eggs!!! I AM SOOOOO HAPPY!! This is my first ever clutch of eggs!! SOMEBODY CONGRATULATE ME!!!!

Hi Today I put Sammi into an aviary with 5 other birds. What Im wondering is will he stay tame beacause 4 of the other birds arent. I would really like to know. Thanks.
