  1. This is awful I feel so sorry for those people. I hope the sitter gets what they ***** deserve. I feel sheer disbelief that a company that gets paid to do one thing managed to fail so miserably. Kerrie, you did a great thing, thank goodness those two are doing well.
  2. This brings tears to my eyes. It's so horrible. How awful for you, and the people when they get back! This hurts me personally too, because it happened to me once. I was very little. My parents and I went for a trip to Asia and I'd forgotten to tell my brother to look after the birds in my aviary. My mum said not to worry because the budgies lived inside and when he went to feed them he'd remember the birds outside too. Well, he didn't My budgies were perfectly healthy, overweight even, but when I went outside they were all dead. My four canaries, twenty or so finches, and four quails. I was absolutely horrified and devastated. What made it worse was my brother's attitude - "Oh. Whoops. No one told me. What are you bawling for, they're only birds." I was a small child and it really shook me. I learnt fast about responsibility. With no help from the adults. I can only imagine the suffering. Kerrie, I hope it was a terrible accident and not ignorant carelessness. Thanks for sharing, please keep us updated. Take care of yourself.
  3. There are lots of photos ahead. (Just the way you like it ) So I thought since the training sessions with Squee were going so well, it was time to put my sweet little girls together I was ready to grab Milly since she's bigger, packs a nasty bite and is bonded strongly to me. If they decided to fight, Milly would probably win. I soo didn't have to! Squee: Do my eyes deceive me? No! My love has finally come to me! Milly: What the-- Milly: Muuuuuummmm!!! Milly: Mum get it off me!! Squee: *smoochy noises* Milly: *runs away* Squee: *follows* Squee: *deep sigh* At this point Milly decided she wanted to go back inside :hap: I'll be safe here! Eew, gotta get the smell of that awful Squeemonster off me. Oh no! She's coming back! Milly: Pleeeease go away!! Squee: Can't I just have a kiss? Pleease? Milly: I think you're confused... Milly: Go away! *hacks* Squee: You really do love me! *smooches* Poor Milly had to be comforted after that But all can be cured.. with a bit of Synchronised Preening... And that makes us a flock! *double floof* Hope you enjoyed this as much as I did :ygbudgie:
  4. Oi! There will be no ingestion of my budgies, thank you Thanks for your comments everyone
  5. Boys! That said, my girls hack at everything in sight. I now have to keep Milly's water hopper tied to the cage with elastic from the outside, because she keeps gnawing and tugging at it until it drops onto the floor and spills all the water. Kestral, now I have images of a Great-Dane sized budgie romping around :(Laughing out loud):
  6. What a beautiful budgie Congratulations!
  7. Looking great Wow, look at the size difference! All very cute.
  8. Oh lookit the boys! They're looking great lovey. Absolutely gorgeous! :fear
  9. Squee: Go away mum! No photos! I'm not ready. I just have to put on my makeup.. Okay, all done :fear Am I pretty? Milly: Good job, little one! One day, you might be nearly as pretty as me! :ygbudgie:

I just took these photos of Squee: My heart just melted when I saw this! If only I'd gotten it a bit earlier when she didn't notice I was there. She was sitting on one foot, clucking softly to herself, falling (almost literally!) asleep and the three bells all around her foofy head. I think it's so cute when they bend over like their beaks are too heavy when they're sleepy. She looked up as soon as I got the camera. *just woke up face* So cute

Welcome Laura! I'm sure you'll enjoy it around here. I can't wait for pics, we love them around here.
  16. It's hot today and I thought I'd get photos of Squee having a little bath. She wouldn't cooperate while I was holding the camera - might have something to do with the way the water was sloshing around as I tried to hold it with one hand, (Laughing out loud). The results: (love the expression) Drying off in the sun Milly: Me! Me! Photos of me mum! Captive foraging with Milly Milly's a pro She knows where it's at Squee.. has yet to learn. Maybe if I put my foot on it... Or yell at it some more... Ghost foot? Fine, I'll just bite it until it gives up! *lunge* Hey that actually worked! *munch munch* :ygbudgie:
  17. :(Laughing out loud): Great photos of beautiful birds. I think the last one needs a caption contest!

  19. Carrington! Beautiful birds
  20. So cute! Great photos
  21. I'll pass on the compliments Nope, Milly's just always had a big br-- er, chest area
  22. Thanks Riebie, most of them haven't been changed, but yes some are zoomed in and/or cropped, particularly the ones under the heading "weird shots." The last one is cropped a tiny bit to get my then-sticky hand out of the frame, (Laughing out loud). My camera is fairly high resolution so it's not too noticeable (I hope). My camera doesn't have a motion setting either, actually. It's a Canon Ixus 55. It does have an option called "kids and pets" which I think will do the trick, will have to play with it. It has a half-second delay as well, for me it's about predicting where the bird will fly in that time. Out of 20 shots of guessing, aiming and clicking, you get one that's exactly what you want, which is that last one for me
  23. Wow! What an amazing experience, you're both so lucky Glad it went well. I can't wait to see the pics. Where do I order the book?
  24. ..when you've got a body like this! :ygbudgie: Oh - and the last of the black markings on Milly's back are practically gone. Plus, one of the paired main tail feathers is completely yellow now. Weird
  25. That is a great picture! Don't you just love wet birds?
