  4. Thanks for that Nerwen. My records show me you are right,,, on checking my files again I found that the dad was a Yellow face light grey Spangle. I hope I do get some babies the same as the mum. Cheers for that Paul
  5. I am thinking of puting these two birds together in the next month. What would you think I could expect in colours. Mum is a Golden Fallow and the son is this greeny yellow wingish one. The Dad to this boy was a Green Normal. Would I get any Golden Fallows? Cheers Paul :wine
  6. Puppies are doing great. They are walking, and can eat out of a saucer ( although they get very messy ) ....I will take some video of that tomorrow. Ken wishes he could keep them all. Ken actually had a fall in front of a car. He accidentally let Cricket out with him out front of the house...and she ended up on the road with cars all around. He ran after her and fell in front of a car as he tried to get her off the road. Ken has been scolded till he had "ear burn" over letting Cricket out the front of the house and then not watching her. He hurt his shoulder, back, elbow and knees. Thats right pick on the poor blokes hey Ken:) (Laughing out loud) What about poor old kens injuries.

The closest I would go with inbreading is Mother-Son or Father-daughter. Most breeders I've spoken with will go no furhter than this and then only if they have to eg: to strenghten a line in breeding. Mating brother and sister can create problems, which you certainly can do without. drinks_wine.gif Cheers

worming and checking for mites would be a good idea, red mites are easy to detect by turning the lichts off and using a torch. but if the bird is not showing signs of over scratching itself I wouldn't worry about it. we should worm our birds on a regular basis, Cheers
  12. What lovely pictures of your birds, keep them coming, we need to see more of peoples birds. It's great to be able to see the parents and then to see their babies. Cool Joanne Cheers Paul
  13. All her offspring have been green normals, light green yellow winged opalines. It has put my mind at rest that she is a Fallow. I've got no other Fallows to breed with her, the closest I will have is to breed her with her son who will b ready in september to breed, age wise I mean. Paul
  14. I bought this bird about 2 years ago, she was sold to me as an Australian Golden Fallow, she has red eyes and is a brilliant golden colour. (she is a good breeder which I'm told is common with these birds) What do you all thing I would be interested to have your feedback. Cheers Paul
  15. Best wishes going out to you guys. One day at a time Regards Paul

What do you mean by wet droppings. eg: are they large and sloppy, what colour are they. Also what are you feeding, is it just seen or some other type of food. Cheers Paul What do you mean by wet droppings. eg: are they large and sloppy, what colour are they. Also what are you feeding, is it just seen or some other type of food. Cheers Paul

  23. This is the latest email on this sick ordeal Things are looking up as I post this topic. They say when you fall off a bike, get back on again. So I did. I cleaned oout all the cabinets, washed everything , checked what birds were left and put some pairs down to breed. I have 8 pairs. The local vet is a budgie breeder too and she rescued some chicks and hand fed them yesterday and showed me today what to do. Now Im a mother again said my husband. The MBC I believe are rallying around and giving me some birds. The most upsetting thing Paul is the way someone let the helpless newly hatched chicks die. I believe now after talking to my neighbour that someone has deliberately let them out. Cheers Paul Edit: Topics Merged
  24. Hi Karen, I have some very old friends who were missionarys in India many moons ago, they told me way back then that they would always have Rasberry cordial to help in this area. Cool, it might be a good idea to use it as a preventive messure. Just thinking out loud. Cheers Paul
  25. Hi people, I got an email from a friend today about their friend that lives in Merriden WA, it's a country town about 5 hours east of Perth. She loves budgies and apparently does well with breeding. Below is a copy the email. We took our grandies back to Perth Saturday and had a phone call early Sunday morning to say someone had broken into our aviary and breeding room. I have lost 90 percent of my stock including breeding pairs and fledged chicks. They left the under a week old chicks to die. Be warned....even locks can be taken off. The person/persons levered the hoop that holds the latch back on the aviary, put a garden fork against the door, out went the birds what the cats didnt get including the quails. The breeding room....the took the whole bolt off the door with a screwdriver as they couldnt unlock the lock....that is missing. I have wonderful neighbours who called the police.....they cleaned up the dead chicks, buried them along with the cold eggs. None of the equipment was taken. At this point in time I just dont want to start up again, I cant afford to anyway. 70 adults and over 130 rung chicks went and about 30 more unfeathered chicks. The vet took some that were left in the nest box and is hand feeding them and will bring them to me today to feed them.
